I work hard so that one day I don’t have to write a single line of code or even open a computer, and I love coding.

In 2015 I worked in a cube. By 2020 I was farming for real. I was BARLEY ready and I was in EXCELLENT physical shape. Farming is one of the hardest jobs in the world. No benefits, no overtime, no holidays, 10hour days, poor pay, but.... Having the food security in your pocket was worth it! Mostly though, what keeps me going is connecting with the most amazing people in the universe: customers and vendors at your local farmers market 10/10 would recommend, but 90% will break before the season ends.

Reminds me of this: "If you are sad where you are, and then you get on a plane to Italy, the you in Italy will be the same sad you from before. Just in a new place."

I've grown up on a farm :D and I'm a software developer at the moment :D

I think the problem is, most developers are building stuff that isn't physical and can't point to. I think building real stuff in the real world, like woodworking, is fulfilling because you physically show someone what you made. You can point to it and touch it.

This is funny, my coworker is constantly saying how he wants to quit and be a farmer. He's been saying this for about 5 years.

Not every single engineer wants to be a farmer. For me, I want to become an indie game developer and make games I want to create and share with people.

Farming sucks because you are in a highly competitive area with extremely low margins. It is as stressful as a job can be. However, having a piece of land and living off it can be nice, especially if money is not a problem.

On one side I also think its the opposite of staying indoors and being in front of a computer the whole day; but its definitely a lot of work

tbf it does depend on what kind of farming, plus where do you do it baby steps
