Spoiler alert What was $155 in 1997, is now $505 in 2026

The fed has destroyed the value of the dollar.

See this non racism focussed content is sooooo much better. Thx for sharing

🤷♂️

Ur shares of clips hating on all somalis n other immigrants. I bet u didnt know the leader of latinos for trump got detained by ice for deportmt? That denaturalizing mthly quotas of 2-300/m r being implimrnted per noem? Look it up urself

These people weren’t complain when prices doubled under Biden. I can’t take them seriously. Boomer do suck shit though generally.

I complained

I know you did. You’re fair. Most of these influencers and propagandists aren’t.

@FinancialPhys Uh.. people are still allowed to complain. Just because the recession didn’t reach them at the same time as you, doesn’t mean they aren’t entitled to bitch about it. Infact, living in this country, we’re a little more than entitled to bitch about things.

@FinancialPhys That’s not incorrect but I don’t think most of them tell any bit of truth. They’re paid just like fox and cnn.

@MysticMacht @FinancialPhys These “people” definitely complained.

@MysticMacht @FinancialPhys The @krassenstein style influencers that complain so hard no never complained under Biden. They said we’re liars/conspiracy theorists and everything was perfect.

We need to end the FED

Baby boomers need to ease up on their dozen cantaloupes

Who the Hell buys cantaloupes 12 at a time?!?

Salaries have not matched the increase in the price of groceries. Toiletries. Baby products. Housing, transportation, & TAXES. This is 💯 unsustainable. I remember shopping in the 90’s. All through the early 2000’s. I get groceries today…. spend $200 then look at the 3 bags I’m carrying out with ease……. (Definitely NOT overfilled bags!) And think….. $200 FUCKING DOLLARS FOR JUST THIS?! I remember shopping with TWO CARTS (I had family of 5 back then….) — & could afford it! 🔥THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE.🔥

The worst part is our food was better quality back then and no where near as modified. Now everything we get is made cheaper than before, but at least 5 times the price.

With our rate of inflation, it should only be at $313. So they’re price gouging and more than likely shrinking the product so you get less of it.

Silver is over $70 an oz today.

All part of the plan And guess what It’s designed in a way that it can only ever get worse

Check what it would have cost in 1970

Ok. There’s this thing. It’s called inflation. Prices have certainly gone up, but so has income. In 1997 the average household income was $37,005. In 2024 it was $83,730. I expect that 2025s numbers will be higher.

I'm surprised the ink is still readable. Have you noticed in the recently whenever you get a sales slip, the ink starts to fade in a few months? I started to notice this in my post office slips the last decade or so. Looks like in '97 they hadn't started using evaporating ink.

I’ll just say that in 1997 I was 27 with a 2 year old child and another born in Dec 1997. I just started my career at Bell Atlantic making $9.76 an hour. I worked 70 hours a week while my wife was a licensed day care provider in our rented townhouse. We were far from rich but we worked hard to take care of our necessities. We rarely ate out but not unexpected with 2 small children. My daughter is probably your age now and I do understand the struggle but I don’t see many working quite as hard as we did in our 20’s.

Exactly. We’ve been robbed

Per da bot, median wages: 1997 $20,102 2025 $45,040 So, $155 in groceries then should be equivalent to $347. At $504.11 today, about a 45% loss of purchasing power. But at least govies don't suffer these losses!

Many of those items like honey have gone through the roof because of the lack of bees 🐝. Pampers and wipes, a lot of fruits and vegetables have gone up more than the inflation rate. Comparing $155 in 1997 dollars vs 2025 dollars, it’s not as high as $505 from a pure inflation calculation, but shows our purchasing power gets lower every day/ year vs the year before.

$100.00 usd

None of these prices for these products have gone up at all. The value of these products has remained exactly the same. What has happened is your government has been counterfeiting money for 50 years and the value of the money is greatly reduced. Inflation is a tax they perpetrate on you in the shadows hoping you never figure it out. They think your stupid.

Now factor in that food has 50% more cheap garbage in it, manufacturing has reduced cost by 50% probably so the real currency devaluation is more like 90% $1 is worth 10 cent tops.

With the Fed printing money like confetti it’s only going to get worse. Lucky us we have cards instead of needing wheelbarrows full of bills to get a loaf of bread.

So, in just under 30 years, average minimum wage across the US has only doubled from $5.15 to $11.50 while groceries have gone up 400%, rent on a 2br has gone up 250%, and gas is up 300%, and they still can't figure out the fertility crisis.

If you use an inflation calculator on Google it works out that $155 in 1997 is = to $313 in 2026

So, I have to question what she looked at. What size bottle of honey did she look at? I pulled a screenshot of 12oz honey below. Also, the Little Debbie Brownies price is not correct. Again, see below. Are prices up? Yes. Especially because of the ridiculous inflation we saw in 2021. But, this young lady didn't do a proper comparison either.

Add a $1, multiply by 3. Devaluation of the currency via money-printing is a big deal, but I think people drastically underestimate the impact of artificial scarcity of products via regulations and red-tape.

Boomers are the fn WORST

It's called inflation. When the government prints money, prices go up. When you add millions of people you increase budgets by billions, that money doesn't fall out of trees. $2.4 trillion today vs $458 billion in '97 circulation, a factor of 5 difference. The increase is fair.

That’s 4.3% annual increase over 28 years, average US salary only increased 2.3% =you’re fucked

The CPI is broken

First, she bought 200 items, that's a hell of a list. Second, two things can be true at one time: the economy sucks due to government spending and regulations, but also, a lot of people don't know how to work hard or budget.

@waveryder91 Yeah but what about

She needs to understand why. Heres why. 👇👇

Money supply. More dollars chasing a finite set of goods. Specifically FED $M2 money supply. This is why everything is 5x the cost from 1997. The FED has put five times more dollars in circulation and continues to do so.
