Actually a terrible change with needing 10m shorts views every 90 days just to maintain monetization. Not everyone can hold that insane number and then they’d need to somehow double that viewership just because they lost it within 90 days.. if that goes through that’s insanely greedy of YouTube holding back smaller creators from earning money. 1-9 million shorts views can be hard but at the same time greatly helpful financially for some people and to strip that away is wild. It should not be 10m within 90 days it should be 6 months. Sometimes people go through a rough time and need a break or can’t upload as much and that’s just too short of an amount of time to decide to take away someone’s ability to earn..

Dude, your own channel Shorts views haven't even crossed 1M in the last 90 days, and you're saying you have to maintain 10M in the last 90 days to earn from shorts🤡

YT just killing shorts for the majority of creators...

To clarify- if in any 90 day period a channel drops below 10 million views they’re dropped from the shorts revenue sharing program and need to reapply am I getting that right?

This shorts change is terrible. As a smaller creator, I don’t make a ton off of my shorts, but it’s also not nothing, especially as they get additional surges the longer they are up, and you are taking that away. As someone who uses the funds they make from all their content to continue buying products to keep my channel running, you are very negatively impacting me, and likely many others. 👎

This guy is the worst. Every time he comes out, he just gives me that feeling that something's about to go down. I think he needs to be let go and replaced with someone who genuinely helps creators, not someone who makes us all look like villains. In his eyes, everyone except the group he works with are the protagonists, and everyone else is the antagonist. #firehim

You guys shoot yourselves in your own feet. Stop trying to have so much control and let creators create.

Absolutely garbage decisions. Your post bragging about how much you've paid out to creators and then slashing how much we can earn is a stupid 1-2 punch here @YouTube

YouTube are also nuking the landscape. Falsely accusing channels with no prior history or recent history of breaking their policies. Without even offering the specific violation to which video(s) they have automatically found to be policy breaking. They don't want creators

How about removing the broken ai you have thats removing channels like mine and many others? You falsely banned my channel of 7 years that was also monetized over accusations that I had broken a policy that I NEVER did. No strikes. No warning just a ban.

You are stealing from a creator who has been in YPP for 15 years and active… I’m not putting up 40M views a year in shorts… so now I guess you’ll receive none of my shorts content… follow me on X or Facebook for these shorts since YouTube fails and robs creators of YEARS

Oh. I was under the impression youtube wanted creators on their platform. My bad.

The shorts change is pretty brutal for smaller creators. What reassurances do we have that you'll never implement the same kind of rolling 90 day viewership requirements for continued monetization on long form videos of creators currently in the YPP?

The only way to get 20 million views every 90 days.

I am sorry to say but doubling down the watchtime is a really stupid decision, do you really think creators find it easy to complete 4k watchtime or 10m short views?? It was already so difficult for many creators and this would only make it worse.

So wait...if I'm not in the YPP yet, and I post both LF + shorts to my channel, I'd need 8K watch hours to get in to the YPP?? Did I catch that right or misunderstand? 4K watch hours is hard enough...but 8K??

I do shorts sometimes on my long form channel. They make some revenue, but not much. But now you're saying there will be zero financial incentive to make shorts unless I can hit 10-million views every 90 days? lol

I'd consider myself a pretty successful small-time Shorts creator. I've hit 6.8 million Shorts views over the last 90 days. That's already an insane number of people. Expecting people to maintain 10 million views on a 90-day rolling average seems WAY too aggressive. @reneritchie

Meanwhile YouTube play ads on your content before monetization, it happens a lot. @YouTube is just stealing from creators. Come on @rumblevideo it’s time to step up and make some updates to your platform. YouTube is screwing creators over again. 😤 Give us a real alternative!

This is really f#cked up. I knew you guys were stupid and detached but I didn't know that it was this deep

I was growing two other channels in addition to my primary channel. Guess I’ll shut those down now. They won’t be monetized for years so what’s the point.

Hey Rene, I have a nuanced question for you; I was monetized as a long-form Creator but I make both long and short form content and receive ad revenue from each content type. I typically get between 8-10 million views from Shorts every 90 days. Am I also required to hit that 10 million Shorts view mark every 90 days for my Shorts to remain eligible for ad revenue?

This is abyssmal. One of the worst changes I’ve seen from YouTube in a long time. Absolutely destroying the small creators on the platform.

This is a gut punch for small creators who are yet to be part of the YPP program.

This is bad for Creators, period.

So you're are just stealing from creators now because what happens when a creator gets less than 10M views and you already served ads on the shorts feed? Who gets that money? YouTube is already playing ads on content before monetization, I've seen it on multiple channels.

4000 watch hours was already so hard to obtain.. but now 8k?! Insane. And the shorts thing is bullshit. Why are you making this even harder for small creators? This is terrible for anyone trying to get started on YouTube

Once YouTube was one the best video platform on earth creators loved to make content and advertisers give money to YouTube. YouTube shares its income everyone was happy but as when YouTube wants to fight with new creators, new creators isn’t happy …

So if you hit the existing long form threshold before the changes in 2027 what changes?

Disgusting. Worked to get 10m views over 90 days. Now have 3.5m-5m every 90 days and it won’t be enough. YouTube hates creators.

Hoping you listen to the thousands of creators who don’t want this change and reconsider these parameters

Do you want a site flooded with low effort AI slop? Because this is how you get a platform flooded with low effort AI slop.

YouTube only cares about mega-channels while choking new creators with tighter algorithms and higher monetization limits. They profit off millions of us while we waste time and money. Those "new features" are just a distraction. It’s a scam.

My honest 227k subs Channel was terminated for a false+ in One single video, over 260, without warnings. This happends on April 2026. I Hope that your implementation program Will fix this false + and holocaust of channels, terminated in seconda for nothing.
