Ron DeSantis, R., scored a victory on Friday when the state of Florida's university system approved a new accreditor to overhaul higher education. Florida, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee formed the Commission for Public Higher Education, a consortium of six public universities offering a new accreditation model. Florida's Board of Governors approved the creation of the Commission for Public Higher Education at their latest meeting on July 11. "The Commission for Public Higher Education is a consortium of six public university systems that are committed to streamlining accreditation standards and prioritizing student outcomes. It will be an accreditation model created by public universities for public colleges and universities," a spokesperson for the board told Fox News Digital. The Commission will create a "first-of-its-kind accreditation model for public higher education institutions that will offer high-quality, efficient services prioritizing academic excellence, student outcomes and achievement." DeSantis said during a press conference at Florida Atlantic University that there was a need for "alternative accreditation." "The accreditors are telling them they have to do these things," he said. "So, when we said, ‘No DEI,’ the accreditors are telling these universities, ‘No, no, no, you’re not going to get accredited unless you do DEI.’ Who the heck are they to say what our universities have to do? They’re telling them they can't follow state law? Are you kidding me? Nobody elected them to make that judgment at all." "What we’ve seen develop is an accreditation cartel and the accreditors by-and-large are all singing from the same sheet of music, and it's not what the state of Florida wants to see reflected in its universities in many different respects," he continued. BREAKING: Shocking violence at LGBT-promoting education convention as DCU Professor smashes phone The CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership refused to answer questions at the event. The government has paid radical LGBT activists €250,000 to run the National Convention on Education which aims to shape the future of Irish education for the next 30 years. ‘Quality Matters’, an organisation run by Aoife Dermody and Caroline Gardner, was appointed by the government to facilitate the National Convention on Education. Dermody is a promoter of radical transgender ideology. Gardner (Quality Matters CEO) is in a polyamorous sexual relationship (three-way) with two other lesbians. Today we attended the second day of the convention held at Thomond Park in Limerick. There were violent scenes at the event. Professor Jane Suiter of Dublin City University, a key government pick for the event, violently smashed our phone to the ground when walking out. Jane Suiter is Full Professor in the School of Communications at Dublin City University. Her ‘research’ focuses on tackling ‘disinformation’. Suiter is director of DCU's Institute for Future Media, Democracy and Society. She has been deeply involved in previous government citizens’ assemblies. Adam Harris, brother of Tánaiste Simon Harris, was also present but refused to comment when questioned. Niall Muldoon, the Ombudsman for Children, was questioned on his advocacy for “gender-affirming care” as a priority for children — he remained silent. Muldoon had recently expressed dissatisfaction with his salary of €130,000, and has lobbied for an increase to €178,000 of taxpayer’s money. Also present at the event this weekend was Alan Hynes-Cendrzak, CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership. Established by the Irish Catholic Bishops, its aim is to provide “an authoritative and unified voice for Catholic education in the public forum.” Alan Hynes participated in the education convention in Limerick this weekend as facilitated by Caroline Gardner who lives in a “throuple” sexual relationship. When questioned today it was disturbing that Alan Hynes refused to respond. Alan Hynes and the Catholic Education Partnership (run by the Catholic Bishops of Ireland) have sought to place the responsibility for advocating for children’s education on parents. Meanwhile there has been a silence from the Bishops and Archbishops on the utter depravity being taught to children in our schools. The Chair of the National Convention on Education is Professor Anne Looney, the Executive Dean of DCU’s Institute of Education since 2019. Under her leadership DCU developed the first SPHE/RSE teacher training course which trains teachers ‘professionally’ in how to deliver sex education. This course includes sexually depraved content. A teacher who experienced the training said she felt the presence of Satan. Among much else the training includes an activity instructing children to write a detailed sex scene. There was a shameful cloak of secrecy over the entire convention in Limerick this weekend. The location was not revealed to the public. Attendees at the convention were instructed by the Chair Anne Looney not to share what anyone has said at the event outside the four walls. Extraordinary efforts were made to protect Anne Looney (Chair of the convention) and Caroline Gardner (CEO of Quality Matters and in a ‘throuple’) from facing any cameras or questions. There were no media present at the convention on either day. We phoned the RTÉ Education Correspondent Emma O’Kelly — she hung up after saying someone’s “private life” was not in the public interest. We also spoke to Pat Leahy of the Irish Times who also hung up after being confronted about the failure of the Irish Times to cover the event. BREAKING: Shocking violence at LGBT-promoting education convention as DCU Professor smashes phone The CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership refused to answer questions at the event. The government has paid radical LGBT activists €250,000 to run the National Convention on Education which aims to shape the future of Irish education for the next 30 years. ‘Quality Matters’, an organisation run by Aoife Dermody and Caroline Gardner, was appointed by the government to facilitate the National Convention on Education. Dermody is a promoter of radical transgender ideology. Gardner (Quality Matters CEO) is in a polyamorous sexual relationship (three-way) with two other lesbians. Today we attended the second day of the convention held at Thomond Park in Limerick. There were violent scenes at the event. Professor Jane Suiter of Dublin City University, a key government pick for the event, violently smashed our phone to the ground when walking out. Jane Suiter is Full Professor in the School of Communications at Dublin City University. Her ‘research’ focuses on tackling ‘disinformation’. Suiter is director of DCU's Institute for Future Media, Democracy and Society. She has been deeply involved in previous government citizens’ assemblies. Adam Harris, brother of Tánaiste Simon Harris, was also present but refused to comment when questioned. Niall Muldoon, the Ombudsman for Children, was questioned on his advocacy for “gender-affirming care” as a priority for children — he remained silent. Muldoon had recently expressed dissatisfaction with his salary of €130,000, and has lobbied for an increase to €178,000 of taxpayer’s money. Also present at the event this weekend was Alan Hynes-Cendrzak, CEO of the Catholic Education Partnership. Established by the Irish Catholic Bishops, its aim is to provide “an authoritative and unified voice for Catholic education in the public forum.” Alan Hynes participated in the education convention in Limerick this weekend as facilitated by Caroline Gardner who lives in a “throuple” sexual relationship. When questioned today it was disturbing that Alan Hynes refused to respond. Alan Hynes and the Catholic Education Partnership (run by the Catholic Bishops of Ireland) have sought to place the responsibility for advocating for children’s education on parents. Meanwhile there has been a silence from the Bishops and Archbishops on the utter depravity being taught to children in our schools. The Chair of the National Convention on Education is Professor Anne Looney, the Executive Dean of DCU’s Institute of Education since 2019. Under her leadership DCU developed the first SPHE/RSE teacher training course which trains teachers ‘professionally’ in how to deliver sex education. This course includes sexually depraved content. A teacher who experienced the training said she felt the presence of Satan. Among much else the training includes an activity instructing children to write a detailed sex scene. There was a shameful cloak of secrecy over the entire convention in Limerick this weekend. The location was not revealed to the public. Attendees at the convention were instructed by the Chair Anne Looney not to share what anyone has said at the event outside the four walls. Extraordinary efforts were made to protect Anne Looney (Chair of the convention) and Caroline Gardner (CEO of Quality Matters and in a ‘throuple’) from facing any cameras or questions. There were no media present at the convention on either day. We phoned the RTÉ Education Correspondent Emma O’Kelly — she hung up after saying someone’s “private life” was not in the public interest. We also spoke to Pat Leahy of the Irish Times who also hung up after being confronted about the failure of the Irish Times to cover the event. My Fellow South Africans, On the 13th of September this year, I signed into law the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act. This Act is vital to the transformation of the education system in our country. The Act is an important part of ongoing efforts to build an education system that is more effective and more equitable in line with the precepts of our Constitution. The BELA Act continues the work that has been done over the last 30 years to ensure that all children have equal access to quality education – from their early years and throughout their schooling. As a democratic country committed to building a new society, we have stated unequivocally that all children must get an education that prepares them to succeed in life, no matter what the circumstances of their birth might be, no matter where they live, no matter what language they speak. In implementing this Act we are all ultimately guided by the Constitution. The Bill of Rights guarantees the right of every person to equality. It guarantees the right of every person to receive a basic education. Importantly, the Constitution says that every person has the right to receive education in the official language or languages of their choice where reasonably practicable. This is a right that applies equally to an English-speaker as it does a Zulu-speaker. It applies equally to someone who speaks Afrikaans as it does to someone who speaks Xitsonga, Sesotho, Sepedi, isiXhosa, Setswana, Tshivenda, isiNdebele or siSwati. And now, it also applies equally to someone who uses the South African Sign Language. The Basic Education Laws Amendment Act enacts measures that strengthen the ability of our schools to give effect to these Constitutional rights. In the application of this law, we must ensure that no language is diminished. Rather, we must work to ensure that all official languages are valued and promoted. At the time that I assented to the BELA Bill, I noted that a number of parties to the Government of National Unity and other key role players in our country had expressed their wish to further engage each other on sections of the bill that deal with issues of admission and language. I said that whilst I had assented to the Bill, in the spirit of cooperation and meaningful engagement, I would delay the implementation date of the BELA Act in totality by three months. This would give the parties time to deliberate on these issues and make proposals on how the divergent views may be accommodated. I also said should the parties not agree on an approach at the end of the three-month period, I would then direct the Minister and the Department to proceed with the implementation of the Act. Over the last three months, discussions have been held with a view of reaching consensus on these outstanding clauses of the BELA Act. Various formations outside of government have also made representations, both for and against the relevant sections. Last week, I received a report from the Government of National Unity ‘clearing house’ mechanism. This is the structure which brings together the parties to the Government of National Unity and other parties represented in Parliament to deal with contentious issues and thereafter report to the leaders of the political parties represented in the Government of National Unity. In their final report, the parties agreed that the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act should not be sent back to Parliament to make changes to the sections that were in contention. The GNU clearing house participants agreed that the Act be fully implemented. This view was endorsed by the leaders of the parties to the GNU in a meeting I held with them today. I accordingly advised them that I would proceed to sign a Presidential Proclamation to bring the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act into operation from today.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse in Queensland, school parents have been unpleasantly surprised by the government suddenly allowing schools to switch to a four-day week from 2024. At a time when Australian school education outcomes are falling against international benchmarks, and when teachers are leaving the sector in droves, the last thing we should do is shorten the school week. Australia fell from 14th to 19th in the 2023 rankings published by the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment, or PISA, with China and Singapore at the top. Our school kids are two years behind their China and Singapore counterparts on science and maths. And back in 2017, UNICEF ranked Australian school education outcomes 39th out of 41 high-to-middle income countries. We’re in the fifth year of the Gonski 2.0 reforms, a commitment to more than 300 billion dollars in additional spending for education. Yet our standards and outcomes keep falling. Maybe if our schools stopped frightening kids about climate change, or making five-year-olds write apologies for the British settlement of Australia, we’d have better outcomes. Teachers are leaving in droves because of undisciplined classrooms and heavy workloads. In addition to delivering a poor curriculum, they’re taking on the roles of parents, counsellors and babysitters without adequate training or support. Cutting school hours in Queensland will only further dumb down our children. Over the decades we’ve allowed schools to become childcare centres and institutions pushing political agendas instead of real education and useful life skills. What hope do we have for the future? One Nation will fight this change at the Queensland state election, getting back to the basics that are the best foundation for a good education.

Our education team's goal is to show the largest academic gains in one year ever recorded, and we'll publish our results even if we fail. Recently, John Danner introduced me to Reed Hastings. Most people know Reed co-founded Netflix. Fewer know he has been one of the driving forces behind improving education for the last twenty years. When Reed pitched me on recreating Bloom's famous 2-sigma problem, I felt an overwhelming sense of hope for education. Over the last few months we have moved at breakneck speed to assemble an exceptional team. Someone recently described it to me as the "Avengers of education." We are testing one question with the rigor it deserves: can elite one-on-one tutoring reproduce the largest learning gains ever measured in a controlled study? We will work with researchers from Stanford, Brown, Cornell, and other leading institutions, and we intend to be the most transparent research group in the field. That means publishing our methods, our benchmarks, and our results, whatever they show. We will invest up to $100,000 per year per student to give them the best education on the planet. If it works, the data and methods can help educators and technologists recreate these outcomes for every child. We are actively hiring tutors, engineers, and operations people to help us climb this mountain.

At 95,000 square feet, the two-story addition provides Smyrna High School with 38 classrooms and lab spaces, in addition to offices and large lecture hall. The space was much needed as Smyrna High has the second largest enrollment within Rutherford County Schools and is among the top ten in Tennessee. With the expansion, Smyrna High can serve up to 2,500 students under one roof. The building houses Career & Technical Education programs including Cosmetology, Health Science, a STEM lab, Criminal Justice and Audio/Visual Production. World Languages and English as a Second Language classes also meet in the building. Students and teachers moved into their new space in early December, about 16 months after the August 2023 groundbreaking ceremony and nearly eight months ahead of its projected opening. Another 16,000 square feet of space was renovated, including the school cafeteria. Other updates have taken place on campus, but this is the main building’s first major update since 2005. Goodwyn Mills Cawood was the project architect with RG Anderson Company as the general contractor. I was happy to receive the "Outstanding Higher Education Stalwart of the Year" award for 2024 from The Economic Times (Economic Times) last night in Delhi. Of course, there is still so much to do. I returned from the US in 1998 to join IIT Bombay (IIT Bombay) as a faculty member. After 25 years in the IIT system (18 years as a faculty member in IIT Bombay and 7 years in IIT Delhi, of which 6 years as the Director of IIT Delhi), I am now with the BITS Pilanii as a group Vice Chancellor since March 2023. All these three institutions happen to be the Institutions of Eminence (IoE) as recognized by the Ministry of Education Ministry of Education, Govt of India. #IIT Delhi received the #IoE status during my time as the Director IIT Delhi following a highly competitive process. Higher education needs major structural #reforms in India. We are archaic when it comes to managing our best institutions. While Public institutions are dependent on Govt of India for 90% of their funding, Private institutions are dependent on tuition fee for 90% of their sustenance. Both are flawed #financial #models. We need to develop a #diversified financial model where endowments, overheads on research and tuition fee contribute an equal share. It requires major #policy tweaks. We need to seriously look at Study Now-Pay Later kind of models on the lines of Australia's HELP scheme. American higher education funding models burden the students with #debt. So much needs to be done in this space in India. Without a proper financial model in place, our institutions are totally at the mercy of bureaucrats and politicians. State #universities are already on their knees and it won't be long before the same happens with our centrally funded Institutions. Industry is the bridge between #research (generation of knowledge) and #innovation (utilization of knowledge for public good). With India ranked 66th among the 130 countries when it comes to academia-industry collaborations, it's clear what we need to do to promote innovation. It's again the Government which needs to make favorable policies for promoting #academia-#industry collaborations. Hope to see some of these #reforms taken up by the new government.

This week, I testified before the Select Committee on Effective Postsecondary Career Technical Education (CTE) and Workforce Development Programs and why it matters for young people furthest from opportunity. For the last several years, Alliance for Boys and Men of Color has been helping lead the fight to build real, paid pathways into good careers for opportunity youth. Alongside Youth Will and California Opportunity Youth Network, we worked with Senator María Elena Durazo to establish the California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) Grant Program — because too many young people were locked out of the apprenticeship system, even as California faces major workforce shortages. COYA is about more than training. It’s about building relationships between community-based organizations, labor, education, and employers so young people who’ve been disconnected from school or work can earn while they learn and move into high-paying, stable careers. Over the last two years, California has made a historic investment in opportunity youth through the California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) that we established. Across two rounds, COYA has awarded more than $46 million to 80 programs to build and expand registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship pathways. These investments are supporting thousands of young people who face barriers to employment—connecting them to paid, high-quality career pathways in high-demand industries through partnerships with community-based organizations, labor, education, and employers. This week, I testified before the Select Committee on Effective Postsecondary Career Technical Education (CTE) and Workforce Development Programs and why it matters for young people furthest from opportunity. For the last several years, Alliance for Boys and Men of Color has been helping lead the fight to build real, paid pathways into good careers for opportunity youth. Alongside Youth Will and California Opportunity Youth Network, we worked with Senator María Elena Durazo to establish the California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) Grant Program — because too many young people were locked out of the apprenticeship system, even as California faces major workforce shortages. COYA is about more than training. It’s about building relationships between community-based organizations, labor, education, and employers so young people who’ve been disconnected from school or work can earn while they learn and move into high-paying, stable careers. Over the last two years, California has made a historic investment in opportunity youth through the California Opportunity Youth Apprenticeship (COYA) that we established. Across two rounds, COYA has awarded more than $46 million to 80 programs to build and expand registered pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship pathways. These investments are supporting thousands of young people who face barriers to employment—connecting them to paid, high-quality career pathways in high-demand industries through partnerships with community-based organizations, labor, education, and employers. BREAKING: BURKES RESPOND TO CHURCH LEADER’S LIES OUTSIDE NI TRANS CLINIC On the evening of Sunday August 3rd we sought to speak with Mervyn Storey outside Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church in Co. Antrim. Mr Storey is Chairman of the transgender-enforcing Education Authority (EA) in Northern Ireland, and a prominent elder in Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church. Mr Storey refused to answer any questions about his promotion of transgenderism in schools across Northern Ireland. David Park, the Minister of Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church, has since issued a statement. The statement from David Park is laced with lies about the events of August 3rd. As is clear from the video, we did not come to “create havoc”, or “harass” anybody. The meeting was over long before we spoke to Mr Storey in the car park and many people had left at that point. We stood for some time in the lobby and asked to speak with David Park. After about 10-15 minutes two men appeared and requested that we leave. We asked again to speak to David Park and were told he was gone and so we left. It is a sobering thing when a professed minister of the Gospel resorts to lies to cover his own hypocrisy. The statement released by David Park is most notable for what it does not contain. The statement says nothing about Mervyn Storey and his promotion and enforcement of transgender ideology as Chairman of the Education Authority in Northern Ireland. As revealed last week, the Education Authority has released a 60-page document entitled ‘Guidance for Schools on Supporting Transgender Young People’. This document has been formally issued to schools and is the current advice from the Education Authority on Transgender issues in schools. Mervyn Storey was appointed to the role in 2024 by DUP Minister for Education Paul Givan. There are large sums of money involved. Storey is paid £50,000 + expenses for a three-day week. As a prominent elder of Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Church, he leads the singing and uplifts the Scriptures on the pulpit on Sunday but then as Chairman of the Education Authority he enforces transgender ideology to every preschool and school in Northern Ireland. One is reminded of Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Christ for thirty pieces of silver. There are eight political representatives on the Education Authority. Three of these are from the DUP, including Mr Jonathan Craig, member of Hillsborough Free Presbyterian Church. The Chief Executive Officer of the Education Authority is Richard Pengelly, on a salary of over £149,000. Christians across Northern Ireland are being deceived by the presence of such people on organisations such as the Education Authority. Their presence conveys an utterly false sense of security. In reality, the vilest ideologies, diametrically opposed to everything Christians believe, are sailing through and seeping into every corner of the education system, from pre-school to secondary. The First Minister of Northern Ireland Michelle O'Neill of Sinn Féin has been very clear on her position on LGBT+. She recently apologised that she could not attend the LGBT Pride Parade in Belfast and gave her 100% support. She pledged to “all the members of the LGBTQIA+ community” that “I, as your First Minister, am your ally, I will continue to be your ally and Sinn Fein as my party will also continue to be an ally.” On the contrary, the stance of the DUP and others who claim to be Christians, is utterly unclear. While professions are made on Sunday, the actions during the rest of the week appear to be the opposite. One must question where their loyalties lie. It is significant that close to the time Mervyn Storey was appointed Chairman of the Education Authority, Minister David Park closed down the Ballymoney Free Presbyterian Christian School.
