Zed 1.0: Your last next editor.

The only thing that is making me not use this is the git UI. I like vscode's git UI. If you can give an option to switch to vscode git ui, I'd switch right away.

Congrats, but do you guys have side-by-side diff views in the git graph yet? I'm surprised calling a 1.0 without one. It's good that you have elsewhere, but not having it in git graph means I still use vscode for that purpose. Especially in the age of agents.

jetbrains..... I thought I'd miss you... but.... I don´t......

The only thing that is missing is a remote server like vscode, so we can use zed command to open the files.

I have difficulty finding text in files because it opens in a tab. Same in checking diff of git files. This is the only thing that keeps me away from Zed. Hope you'll make it better. It's a great product that I use daily.

Installed it, launched dev container and... cc agent can't run. I don't get it, if AI is your main focus now, why isn't it working at least as good as vscode cc extension

Huge thanks to the @zeddotdev team ❤️. Zed made it possible for me to build and ship my website on a 4GB RAM laptop, where VS Code was just unusable.

I wanna switch to zed so bad but I’ve already paid for the antigravity plan. If they weren’t banning people for using the exposed api with other harnesses, you best believe i’d be on zed.

I doubt it. Would it be possible to add an API for VCS In other words, if I or someone else submits a proposal or even sends some code, would there be a chance of it being merged?

Git support is good, it allowed me fully switch to the zed

You guys could have included that you can disable AI completely to the commercial too, as the amount of people that don't want AI everywhere (myself included) keeps growing by the day. It's another "selling point" in my books!

"Your last next editor" is exactly what every editor claims but Zed 1.0 might actually back it up. The Rust-native architecture with real multi-buffer editing and AI agent collab built-in is genuinely different. Moved to it a few months ago and the speed feels unfair compared to VS Code. Congrats on the launch.

One of the best editors I've tried, but I had to stop using it because it doesn't support Jupyter notebooks.

I hope its performance is better. @WebStormIDE is super slow; it seems like the TS server is slowing it down, or I don't know.

Just need full Flutter/Dart plugin support

What does 1.0 actually commit to staying stable — plugin API, the AI/agent layer, or just the editor core? In Claude Code the agent surface churns every other release, so 'last editor' is doing a lot of work in that headline.

Like others, I want the git UI from vscode/cursor - at this point all I edit in cursor is markdown files, but the git UI is still the best, especially the diff view with full files. Build that and I switch.

the only thing that kept us from using @zeddotdev is a good working extension for protobuf with the buf lsp

ssh implementation alone is totally worth it! love what you do, keep it up!

I love zed, but due to limitations in ACP wrapped Claude vs full Claude CLI, I stopped using it. Instead I use the Claude plugin for vscode. I will check back later, and if the situation is improved I may come back.
