Traversable wormholes are not black holes, matter is not destroyed going through them. They are spacetime curvature which connects two points via an extra dimension. The energy requirements are obsolete because we don't need mass energy density like a black hole, we squeeze the zero point energy modes, and that produces negative energy. This is what Davis, Froning, and others have proposed. Unlabored acceleration. Hiding in plain sight. ER = EPR

So called empty space isn't empty at all. It's full of energy, and that energy is electromagnetic in nature. When they calculated the amount of energy, they found it to be infinite, so they renormalized it. We don't feel this energy because we're in an equilibrium with it, but if conditioned correctly it can be harnessed. Atoms are sitting in a sea of energy.
