Congratulations to Major General Drapatyi on his appointment as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine! This is an important step for the people of Ukraine on the path to peace and victory. Mykhailo Drapatyi is a professional forged by modern warfare. He has a strong team, extensive experience, faith, and the support of the Ukrainian people. Today, all of Ukraine woke up with joy and hope. I would like to share a few words about the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: 🔹 Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi previously commanded the Land Forces of Ukraine, the Joint Forces, and key operational groupings on the most critical frontlines. 🔹 He is a recipient of the "Cross of Combat Merit" and a full Knight of the "Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky." 🔹 Mykhailo is 43 years old and has risen through the ranks of the Armed Forces - so he knows the Army well and has a broad perspective. 🔹 In 2014, as commander of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion, Mykhailo led a daring BMP-2 breakthrough through separatist barricades to aid defenders in Mariupol. The advance of two armies and a tank division of the Russian armed forces was repelled: forces of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine destroyed dozens of units of equipment and a large number of occupier personnel. On July 22, the occupiers, using forces of the 8th and 41st Armies along with the 90th Tank Division, attempted an assault in the sector held by the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine, involving dozens of units of armored and light vehicles. The 41st Guards Combined Arms Army and the 90th Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod Tank Division of the Russian armed forces advanced from the area of the settlement of Novoekonomichne, while forces of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army simultaneously advanced from the area of the village of Vozdvyzhenka. For four hours, they attempted to enter settlements in the area of the village of Shakhove. The enemy attempted to deny the sky to Ukrainian forces using "Gerbera" and "Lancet" strike drones. A modern Russian "Tornado-S" MLRS, which was being used to support the assault, was also destroyed. Forces of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine, together with attached units, blocked the path of the advancing mechanized columns.
