🚨 TODAY: settlers and army assault village in West Bank This morning at approximately 10 A.M in the village of Ras al Ein, a group of Israeli settlers, some of whom were under the age of 18, began attacking Palestinian infrastructure. Settlers attempted to dig up multiple buried water pipes, trespassed on Palestinian properties, and began assaulting activists. With them, settlers brought children as young as toddlers to witness and support the violence. Shortly after the attack began, Israeli security forces from nearby settlements, along with police, and military personnel responded to the scene. In response, police officer Offir Aharonovitch brutally assaulted the activist. Aharonovitch punched Dean in the face, choked him, and repeatedly slammed his body into rocks. Dean endured multiple assaults before being forced into a police vehicle and transported to Shaar Binyamin jail. He has not been released. These assaults are just the most recent events in an escalating pattern of settler violence in the village of Ras Al Ein. The village is largest remaining Bedouin community in the Southern Jordan Valley, and following the complete ethnic cleansing of the neighboring village of Muarrajat, has become a prime target of settler gangs. Currently, Ras al Ein is surrounded by multiple illegal outposts where over the last eighteen months, settlers and their supporters in local security forces, have mounted an increasingly violent campaign of terror designed to expel the Palestinian community from the area. Dean Talkoff is the fourth activist in the last month to be seriously injured in a settler-led assault.

On October 26, 2025, Muhammad Bahajat al-Halaq, 9, was playing soccer with other children and teenagers in the schoolyard of the village of a-Rihiya in the Hebron district. During the game, two military jeeps entered the village. Fearing that the soldiers would fire tear gas at them, as had happened before, the children ran from the playground and hid among the houses. Four soldiers exited one of the jeeps. Two of them began shooting in the direction in which the children had fled. One soldier fired tear gas canisters, while the other fired live ammunition. One of the bullets struck Muhammad. After he was shot, the soldiers continued firing tear gas toward the spot where he had fallen. When a local resident tried to reach Muhammad, the soldiers shot at him as well. Eventually, the man managed to reach Muhammad and evacuate him. Muhammad was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His mother, ‘Aliyah, said that Muhammad loved soccer, was an excellent student, and dreamed of becoming a doctor. “When he played with his brothers, he would always ask them to call him ‘Dr. Muhammad.’ But that dream will never be fulfilled now that he has been shot and killed by an Israeli soldier.” Muhammad is one of 54 children and teens killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank in 2025. SETTLER ATTACK ON BARDALA LAST NIGHT: PRESS RELEASE Field Report – “Save the Jordan Valley” Campaign On Wednesday night, around 10:00 PM, the village of Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley came under a violent attack by groups of settlers. One group vandalized the village’s agricultural water pipelines, prompting several local farmers to mobilize in defense of their land and property. After successfully repelling the initial attackers, the farmers were ambushed by another group of armed settlers lying in wait. The situation quickly escalated into direct gunfire, resulting in injuries to seven civilians — two of whom are in critical condition. Despite the presence of the Israeli army and police, no action was taken to stop the assault. Instead, the soldiers provided protection to the settlers, who took advantage of the situation to continue their attack. They advanced toward residential homes in the village, setting fire to Ahmad Ibrahim Jahalin Alaa Jahalin’s home, as well as his father’s. These two homes housed two families — a total of ten people, the majority of whom are women and girls. Both homes, consisting of residential tents, a structure, and their contents — including furniture, personal documents, cement house and livestock shelters (barracks), covered an area of approximately 160 m² — were completely destroyed. This attack is part of a broader escalation that has been ongoing for more than a week, during which Bardala’s agricultural water networks have repeatedly been sabotaged by settlers. The village is now completely encircled by an apartheid wall, with a new settlement outpost recently established nearby. A military checkpoint has also been set up, severing Bardala’s connection to the city of Tubas via the Ibziq road. What happened in Bardala is a deliberate and organized crime, carried out under the protection of the occupation. It represents a direct threat to the continued presence of Palestinian communities in the Jordan Valley and demands urgent action from human rights organizations and the international community.

Chaos sells. But if every apprehension erupted in a fuselage of stones and shattered glass then nothing would get done and almost nobody would be arrested. We went out on a recent morning with ICE agents from the Detroit Field Office looking for 12 illegal aliens, including a convicted drug dealer who had been deported three previous times and another who is a convicted car thief. They were living in a Cape Cod in Westland, near where my mother lives. Nine agents had been surveilling the group for days. Only one wore a mask. There were no histrionics, no tear gas, no Furries in fatigues shouting “Fascist!” The agents, led by Acting Field Office Director Kevin Raycraft, carried warrants and fingerprint readers. They knew the crew’s habits and early morning movements to the minute. The plan was to pull them over when they went to work. It was the most professional ride along I have ever gone on, more prepared than the Marines invading Iraq, even. Watch below. One of the claims I address in my new book, Israel on Trial, is the allegation that Israel has committed genocide. Genocide has a clear legal definition. It means that a country, not individual soldiers, a country has the specific intent to destroy an entire people in whole or in part as such, because they are that people, by killing their members or because of their racial, religious, or ethnic origins. The proponents of the genocide claim have to show that the Israeli government had the specific intent to wipe out the Palestinians of Gaza because they are Palestinians, not because there's Hamas fighters embedded within them, not because they're trying to release the hostages. That's why when you read, for example, the briefing book that the legal team from South Africa submitted at the International Court of Justice, there's no mention of Hamas really. There's barely a mention of October 7th. There's no hostages. It's a fictional world in which there are no hostages, there was no October 7th, there is no Hamas, and there's just Israeli war planes and an innocent civilian population. That starts to look a lot more like genocide if you remove all of the essential elements that are the reality on the ground. How do we begin to analyze this question? The first is historically. We know for example from the Nuremberg trials that this argument that Hamas and its supporters are advancing was already rejected by the original people who tried the original war crimes trial at Nuremberg. The German defense team wanted to advance the defense that you shouldn't be too angry with our people, and you shouldn't think that the prosecution has any moral right to be prosecuting and trying our defendants, because the pilots who were flying over Dresden and Berlin and Tokyo and Hiroshima are equally guilty of these war crimes. And the Nuremberg trials resoundingly rejected that theory and said, "You're not guilty of these war crimes when you're fighting a war of existential survival against a genocidal regime in a war that is defensive in origin, that you didn't start, and never wanted and frankly never expected." But it's much more than that. Israel has fought the most precise, and in some respects the most humane, urban warfare conflict the world has ever seen. And you don't have to take my word for it. Take the HLMG, the High Level Military Group. The HLMG is a collection of high-level officers and generals from almost every Western army in the world. Not Jews. Not Mossad agents. These are generals from America, from Canada, from New Zealand, who all went to Gaza, went to Israel, looked at the evidence, looked at Israel's strike packages, realized that Israel is fighting a war that is essentially run by lawyers. This doesn't appear in the newspapers, but as I can tell you when I lead these judges' trips to Israel, Israel is fighting an almost preposterously Jewish war, where all of the calls of strikes that are not emergent are made by lawyers in the field. This is a reality that must be understood. Israel has a corps of military advocate generals. They're called MAGs. Think about our JAGs, for example, and many of our judges were JAGs, and so the context and the contrast is stark. Military advocate generals are deployed in the field with the commanders all over Gaza and on the Gazan border, and one of the things that you should remember about the military advocate generals isn't just their deployment. It's also that their advice is not precatory. So in the United States, a JAG says to a commander, "You shouldn't strike. That's my advice." But the commander can always override the strike because the advice is precatory. In Israel, the MAG's advice is not precatory. It's mandatory. It's an order that must be followed. Of course, if the commander disagrees, there's a whole appellate mechanism that goes to senior commanders that ultimately could end up in front of an IDF judge. I mean, this is the ridiculously legalistic way in which these Jews fight these wars. And frankly, we have seen, as judges, dozens and dozens and dozens of videos where this plays out in real time. Videos, which somehow don't make it into The New York Times, where pilots are in their planes or flying their drones over clear Hamas targets— terrorists shooting out of a mosque or out of a hospital or out of a UN car. Yes, that happens in Gaza every single day. And the pilot says, "I'm ready to fire." And then something amazing happens, something our American JAG officers are like, "What is happening here?" A nerdy Jewish lawyer comes over the air, the airwave and says, "Hey, what's that 50 yards away on the top right of the screen? Scan over to the top right of the screen." And it's two children playing soccer or three women holding a loaf of bread having a conversation. And instantly it's "Strike canceled. Strike canceled. Strike canceled." Over and over again in Gaza and in Lebanon, legitimate strikes on legitimate military targets that almost any other Western army in the world would take are canceled by Israeli lawyers, international law scholars, because of a concern for the preservation of innocent Palestinian civilian life.

🇸🇾 Aleppo is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with a history spanning over 7,000 years. Archaeological evidence of human settlement in Aleppo dates back to the 6th millennium BC, making it a living testament to the resilience of civilization through centuries of change and conflict. In 1915, my grandparents fled the horrors of the Armenian Genocide and found safety in Aleppo. The city offered them a refuge, a place to rebuild their lives away from the persecution that devastated their homeland. This history is deeply personal for me because Aleppo was also where I was born and raised. I studied in its schools, wandered its historic streets, and absorbed its rich culture. Walking through Aleppo feels like stepping into a historic film. Its ancient walls and vibrant spirit breathe life into its remarkable story. However, the Aleppo I know has often been misrepresented. Much of what you hear about the war in Syria—especially regarding Aleppo—has been shaped by manipulative narratives designed to manufacture consent for foreign intervention. Since 2011, NATO countries and their allies have engaged in a concerted effort to destabilize Syria under the guise of promoting democracy and human rights. But the real motivations behind their actions tell a different story. In 2011, following the NATO-led intervention in Libya that resulted in the toppling of Muammar Qaddafi, Syria became the next target. Libya's descent into chaos, including the emergence of an open-air slave market, revealed the devastating consequences of such interventions. With Syria, the goals were strategic and multifaceted. Blaming Ordinary People For The Ecocidal Consequences Of AI, And Other Notes I just saw an article in The Conversation titled “Your AI habit is wasting precious resources. Here’s how to use it responsibly,” and it pisses me off because you can already see where this is going. Neoliberalism is already doing that thing where they shift all the blame for the environmental consequences of ecocidal capitalism to the individual consumer, like how they told everyone to ride bikes and recycle instead of regulating the corporations who are actually destroying our biosphere. There are plenty of reasons why we should all avoid using AI, but the push to offload all the responsibility for the ecological consequences of data centers onto individual users instead of just regulating AI companies is typical capitalist power-serving bullshit. This is especially the case when AI is being aggressively shoved down our throats on every front, and when we all know most of this AI infrastructure being built up all around us is probably just going to wind up going toward mass surveillance and the western war machine. Blaming Ordinary People For The Ecocidal Consequences Of AI, And Other Notes I just saw an article in The Conversation titled “Your AI habit is wasting precious resources. Here’s how to use it responsibly,” and it pisses me off because you can already see where this is going. Neoliberalism is already doing that thing where they shift all the blame for the environmental consequences of ecocidal capitalism to the individual consumer, like how they told everyone to ride bikes and recycle instead of regulating the corporations who are actually destroying our biosphere. There are plenty of reasons why we should all avoid using AI, but the push to offload all the responsibility for the ecological consequences of data centers onto individual users instead of just regulating AI companies is typical capitalist power-serving bullshit. This is especially the case when AI is being aggressively shoved down our throats on every front, and when we all know most of this AI infrastructure being built up all around us is probably just going to wind up going toward mass surveillance and the western war machine. Telling people not to use ChatGPT to make shitty memes isn’t going to save us from the ecological fallout of the AI-driven facial recognition murder drones we’ll have patrolling our skies in the future of this increasingly dark dystopia. ❖ A UN independent inquiry issued a report on Tuesday finding that Israeli forces have been deliberately targeting Palestinian children, saying Israel is guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza, as well as war crimes in the West Bank. I have said it before and I will say it again: the single dumbest conspiracy theory of all time is that there’s a secret plot between all the world’s mainstream humanitarian institutions to falsely portray Israel as a genocidal apartheid state. ❖ My new thing is just telling hasbarists “Nobody believes you.” Because nobody does. There Is No Antisemitism Crisis In Australia. It’s A Carefully Constructed Lie. The Murdoch-owned Daily Telegraph has been caught trying to orchestrate what can only be described as a mass media psyop to inflame public hysteria about antisemitism in Australia. The man, who is reportedly associated with the Australian Jewish Association, entered an Egyptian cafe called Cairo Takeaway and postured with his Star of David hat without getting any reaction from anyone. He then started making comments to cafe staff, who caught on to what he was doing and started recording him. Police were then called and it caused a big scandal. It’s obvious that the intention here was to instigate something that could be framed as an “antisemitic incident” and provoke a national outcry and draw all the usual fiery denunciations from Australian officials, followed by arguments citing the incident as evidence that Australia needs even more aggressive speech laws to stomp out all criticism of the genocidal apartheid state of Israel. And it should here be noted that The Daily Telegraph is owned by News Corp, the Murdoch media conglomerate which dominates the Australian press. Rupert Murdoch became the media giant he is with the help of his ties with the Ronald Reagan administration and US government agencies. Also noteworthy is that Murdoch is a board member and significant shareholder of Genie Energy, which holds a contract to drill for oil and gas in the Golan Heights — territory illegally occupied by Israel. This is just the latest in a spate of incidents in which a narrative about an urgent epidemic of antisemitism in Australia is being marketed to the public based on false information. Just today we learned from The Sydney Morning Herald that the Dural caravan laden with explosive materials we were told a couple of weeks ago was intended for use in a “mass casualty event” targeting Jewish sites was not only full of unusable 40 year-old explosives with no detonator, but was involved in a scheme by underworld crime gangs to help negotiate reduced sentences with law enforcement. The entire Australian political-media class lost their minds about this story when it first came out. The words “antisemitic” and “antisemitism” were rife throughout the Australian press. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared that “There’s zero tolerance in Australia for hatred and for antisemitism, and I want any perpetrators to be hunted down and locked up.” The federal government’s special envoy on antisemitism, Jillian Segal, called the incident a “chilling reminder that the same hatred that led to the murder of millions of Jews during the Holocaust still exists today”. And it had nothing to do with antisemitism. At all. We saw a similar incident earlier this month when headlines blared about an “antisemitic attack” at Bondi Beach involving eggs being thrown at a group of young women. A couple of days later it came out that the egging was perpetrated by two teenagers getting up to teenage mischief and had nothing to do with anyone hating Jews. Right now we’re seeing an uproar over two Arab Australian nurses who were baited by an Israeli influencer into saying on the website Chatruletka that they would kill Israelis if they came into their hospital. The comments by the nurses were obviously extremely ill-advised and unethical, but a police investigation has so far found that they’ve never harmed anybody, and if you watch the extended footage of the exchange it’s clear the influencer went out of his way to inform them that he served in the Israeli military and killed Palestinians. One of the nurses has reportedly lost 70 family members to Israeli atrocities in Palestine. Without defending the irresponsible comments of the nurses, I don’t think anyone would expect a Jewish person who came in contact with a Nazi soldier in the 1940s to maintain their cool and avoid violent speech, much less so if that person had lost family members in the Holocaust, and even less if they believed they were having a conversation in private. These chat roulette sites are not intended as mass public broadcast forums; people participating in them tend to interact on the assumption that they are having a private conversation, so the exchange should be viewed as angry words being hurled at a perceived abuser, not as a public declaration of intent to harm others. I don’t condone a healthcare provider saying she’d kill Israeli nationals in her hospital, even if she has lost scores of family members in the Gaza holocaust. But I also wouldn’t confuse what I was seeing with evidence of an antisemitism crisis in Australia. There is a concerted effort to manufacture the illusion of an antisemitism crisis in Australia in order to protect Israeli information interests — and the call isn’t coming entirely from inside the house. When you see graffiti on a synagogue with “Free Palestine” written next to swastikas, it calls to mind the Mississippi man who notoriously claimed in 2015 that his driveway had been vandalized by black activists with graffiti that said “BLACKS RULE”. Apparently we’re all supposed to take very seriously the idea that either (A) Nazis are spray painting the words “Free Palestine” next to their swastikas, or (B) that supporters of Palestinian rights are spray painting Nazi symbols next to their pro-Palestinian slogans. And we are never meant to consider the possibility that this incident was staged by Israel’s supporters or by paid actors working for foreign Zionists. It is always okay to express skepticism about dubious incidents of “antisemitism” in today’s political environment. Israel’s supporters are shitty, evil people who support genocide, and faking antisemitic incidents is a standard hasbara tactic with a well-documented history. People conflating support for Palestinians and criticism of Israel with hatred of Jews. This is the most common category by an extremely massive margin. 2. People conflating October 7 with a Holocaust-like event in which Jews were murdered simply for being Jewish. In reality October 7 was an act of desperation by the oppressed inhabitants of a giant concentration camp, and they would have killed their oppressors regardless of their religion. 3. Real hatred of Jewish people and real attacks on Jews because they are Jewish. This, while relatively uncommon, is being made more common by Israel’s practice of committing genocide under a Star of David flag while claiming to represent all Jews. Israel apologists always go out of their way to conflate these three categories. The Anti-Defamation League officially made this conflation a standard practice in 2023 by categorizing incidents of pro-Palestinian activism as antisemitic incidents. The Anti-Defamation League recently drew controversy by saying that Elon Musk’s infamous Nazi salute was not antisemitic, while we’re on the subject. There is no antisemitism crisis in Australia. Sunday night in Los Angeles changed my understanding of what a natural disaster can do to a modern city. The wildfires created conditions that made the familiar streets feel like another world entirely. When I heard how bad things were getting, I loaded thousands of Americana survival kits into my Cybertruck and headed straight for the fire zones. As night fell, the devastation became surreal. Houses engulfed in flames. Entire neighborhoods looked like a war zone, with stretches of eight, nine, or more houses in a row burned down to a crisp, as if hit by a rocket launch. The smoke lingered heavily in the air in the parts of Los Angeles I was in, creating an eerie, muted atmosphere that made the city feel unrecognizable at times. We drove through what felt like an abandoned town, completely blacked out due to the grid appearing to go down in that area, the familiar streets of this part of LA transformed into something unrecognizable. The Cybertruck's durability gave us confidence as we navigated streets covered in debris and ash, a small comfort amidst the chaos. In the distance, I kept catching silhouettes of people moving in the haze. I wasn't sure if they were people needing help, people who didn’t need help but were running, or looters taking advantage of the chaos. But at any mass casualty event, you feel something else too—maybe the wandering of souls, or hopefully their ascension. In that moment, it felt like the silhouette of Death itself was walking around, and that none of us were truly safe. The military presence was massive. There were what looked like MRAPs with strobe lights on each side, possibly searching for bodies, moving slowly down vacant, empty streets in the black, ashy, hazy blackout zones. The sheer scale of the response was both reassuring and unsettling. It felt like a police state during an armageddon, with the military and police first responders performing incredibly under the circumstances. Yet, the optics of it were shocking, as if the world had turned upside down. But it was the silence that really got to me. Where I was in Los Angeles had gone completely quiet except for the distant crackle of flames and the low rumble of military vehicles. In a city that never sleeps, this silence felt wrong. We came across a gas station that had become an impromptu emergency center. Someone had set up a makeshift generator, throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning, it became a hub for the community. A taco truck had parked there, giving out free food to everyone. People were collecting shoes, clothes, and gasoline. There we distributed the last of our survival and first aid kits. What struck me most was seeing people coming together as Americans, helping each other for no reason other than they were just fellow Americans. The footage we captured that night doesn't do it justice. Cameras can't capture the disorientation of trying to navigate through near-total darkness, or that gut feeling when you have to decide in an instant whether to approach an unclear figure in the shadows. The night revealed two contrasting truths about Los Angeles: the frightening speed with which a modern city can descend into darkness, and the remarkable way communities rise to meet that darkness with light. Throughout the chaos, off-the-record first responders and residents alike shared their deep frustration and heartbreak over Governor Gavin Newsom's response to the fires. Across party lines, people expressed anger at the perceived lack of coordination and urgency, criticizing his handling of the situation as ineffective and tone-deaf. It was clear that this sentiment was widespread, cutting through typical political divides in a way I hadn’t witnessed before. Leaders have as their first and most sacred duty the responsibility to unite the people who follow them—to keep them whole, to keep them together. But Gavin Newsom had done the opposite, systematically, over years, using the media and from almost every podium. It’s absolutely evil because it’s a perfect inversion of a leader’s duty. He’s certainly tried harder at this than at any other task. He hasn’t focused on managing the economy, paving roads, or preparing for a fire everyone knew could come. He’s done just the opposite—so focused they have been on making us hate each other. I always wonder why one of the best states has the worst leaders? No state deserves leaders like him. Why do the people with the longest track record of failure have total control over the rest of the state, which is beautiful and filled with great people? How does that work? That doesn’t look like democracy to me. A few days later, the most interesting take I have is that if you experience America through your phone, which I hate to admit is mostly how I experience of America, you really get a distorted picture of it. They want you to get the sense that the country is at war with itself, that people hate each other. But when you see what just happened in Los Angeles and how ordinary Americans came together extraordinarily you realize Americans secretly don’t really hate each other. And yet, they have been convinced of the opposite, systematically, over decades by terrible leaders. And up until this past weekend, what people, including me, forget to consider is how much good there is in the world. Good that makes no sense. The love between people who don’t know each other, who have nothing obviously in common except their Americanness, their citizenship here. People who gain nothing by being kind to each other—who are, in fact, encouraged not to be kind, yet are anyway...

A few days later, the most interesting take I have is that if you experience America through your phone, which I hate to admit is mostly how I experience of America, you really get a distorted picture of it. They want you to get the sense that the country is at war with itself, that people hate each other. And yet, they have been convinced of the opposite, systematically, over decades by terrible leaders. The failure of command to disperse their soldiers is what led to these fatalities. The very minute that the Patriot battery was struck in Erbil was a major clue that the Iranians were conducting shaping fires of their own...they were striking the air defense sites so as to open up a gap in air defense coverage, and reach out to American positions with their larger ballistic missiles. Though it is usually in poor taste to reflect on failures in the immediate aftermath of the death of troops, in the interest of expediency sometimes uncomfortable conversations must be had in order to prevent further loss of life. If a gap in air defense coverage is what allowed this strike to happen, it is almost certain that this gap still exists and that the danger to American service members is still not mitigated. For ALL American troops in the Middle East, this observation must be noted: If the Iranians are striking air defense sites, the next assumption must be that the Iranians are planning to strike something that would have been protected by that site. In retrospect this is common sense, but even at this very moment, the continued strikes on American positions (and the nearly total lack of fortification efforts at these bases, even to this day) continues to indicate that the Iranian targeting efforts are not being taken seriously by senior American decision makers. Five months into this war, CENTCOM leadership has still not figured out that the Iranians can strike their bases at will, and as demonstrated by the strikes in Kuwait and Jordan, the US is still not digging in, and also not dispersing enough to avoid troops getting killed. No underground fortification efforts have been undertaken at any base in the Middle East, and satellite imagery indicates that no substantial fortifications have been undertaken either. Granting as much leeway to the Pentagon's decision making process as possible, it is possible that no hardening of defenses would have mattered considering the missiles Iran is launching. The very minute that the Patriot battery was struck in Erbil was a major clue that the Iranians were conducting shaping fires of their own...they were striking the air defense sites so as to open up a gap in air defense coverage, and reach out to American positions with their larger ballistic missiles. Though it is usually in poor taste to reflect on failures in the immediate aftermath of the death of troops, in the interest of expediency sometimes uncomfortable conversations must be had in order to prevent further loss of life. If a gap in air defense coverage is what allowed this strike to happen, it is almost certain that this gap still exists and that the danger to American service members is still not mitigated. For ALL American troops in the Middle East, this observation must be noted: If the Iranians are striking air defense sites, the next assumption must be that the Iranians are planning to strike something that would have been protected by that site. In retrospect this is common sense, but even at this very moment, the continued strikes on American positions (and the nearly total lack of fortification efforts at these bases, even to this day) continues to indicate that the Iranian targeting efforts are not being taken seriously by senior American decision makers. Five months into this war, CENTCOM leadership has still not figured out that the Iranians can strike their bases at will, and as demonstrated by the strikes in Kuwait and Jordan, the US is still not digging in, and also not dispersing enough to avoid troops getting killed. No underground fortification efforts have been undertaken at any base in the Middle East, and satellite imagery indicates that no substantial fortifications have been undertaken either. Granting as much leeway to the Pentagon's decision making process as possible, it is possible that no hardening of defenses would have mattered considering the missiles Iran is launching. Drone defense is one thing, but it would take years to build a bunker that would withstand the impact of an Iranian Fattah or Ghadr missile. Nevertheless, when it comes to defending American positions, doing something is better than doing nothing, and concrete does not take half a year to dry. Even if large-scale construction projects are off the menu, ALL military publications, textbooks, and training scenarios dictate and demand what has been obvious since World War One...Dispersion is the name of the game. This is what kept casualties to a minimum in Bahrain, but different theater commanders have different personal initiatives. Some are more proactive with their defense, and others have done nothing at all, besides making sure that all of the vehicles in the motorpool are lined up neatly. Where this goes from here is anyone's guess, but unless radical and immediate changes are made, the United States will continue to suffer casualties. And as long as the bombing continues which is motivating Iran to target our bases, this indirectly highlights the deficiencies with American air defense technologies, not just for this war, but for the wars to come. I played 4 hours of The Blood of Dawnwalker - and it's damn good. My full thoughts below 👇 The version we played was in beta and running on some powerful PCs. It was from the beginning of the game so I wasn't able to explore the entire map. It felt pretty polished overall and I didn't experience any bugs or performance issues during my time. The game takes place in Vale Sangora - it's a beautiful valley near the Carpathian Mountains full of lush trees, bogs, mines, and all kinds of wildlife and villages and communities roughly comparable in size to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine but packed with detail. There's a lot of neat history everywhere you look and explore, with references to Genghis Khan's hordes, the Tatars, and more. There are also little details that help make the setting a bit more real. Because Vale Sangora is run by the vampire leaders, silver is forbidden to have in your possession, and not every merchant will buy or sell them. It looks great visually, but I wouldn't say in a way that blew my socks off. Environments look good, trees, bushes etc all swaying in the wind, good lighting, character models are nicely detailed. It's not pushing things on a technical level but I found that perfectly ok. From the beginning of the game, a series of events introduces you to Coen's family - his parents and siblings. His father Pieter is a strong and stern caretaker who knows his way around a sword but deeply cares for his family. Coen's mother Esme is stricken by an illness that the whole family is trying to wrangle with, and his siblings are playful and endearing. As the vampires don't tolerate 'weakness', you start the feel the weight of the family's plight that gives off an aura of despair. At least in these initial hours, I found myself surprisingly growing attached pretty quickly. While there's an ominous metaphorical 'cloud' that hangs over the valley, there are bits of lightheartedness thrown in too. One charming quest saw me play tag with my siblings and go fishing in the old family hangout spot. Character performances and voice acting are excellent. There weren't really any characters that felt out place or miscast. I especially enjoyed the gravelly voices of Pieter and Brencis - the leader of the vampires. Brencis comes off formidable, and events in the game gave me a motivational drive for revenge, which I always like in games. The story is set up in a way that each of the vampire leaders needs to be taken down, with Brencis as the head honcho. You can attack them in any order, even going directly to Brencis from the outset, but you'll probably find you'll have a bit of trouble with that approach. While I've always been a little hesitant about plots that have open-ended structures, the team at Rebel Wolves told me that each vampire 'captain' is unique with many quests tailored to their specific stories, and there was a lot of effort and care put into each. They urge players to play through each storyline to get the most out of the game. There were lots of endearing characters in just the first few hours. Anca - a local herbalist and a witch, reminded me a lot of The Witcher 3's Keira. And she's a romance option. There are other sentient races as well, like the Uriash which I would say resemble something like the Qunari from Dragon Age. They're big, tough and brooding and are seen as monsters and somewhat shunned. There's a nice variety of monsters too, like kobolds who are basically ghouls that talk smack, and I came across the "Great Bog Wurm" in a swampy area which was it's own mini-boss fight. When I compare to something like The Witcher 3 (because many people understandably do with Dawnwalker given how the game looks and the makeup of the Rebel Wolves team), movement and navigation in the game felt fairly fluid overall. Walking, sprinting, vaulting ledges, etc were smooth. There's a bit of clunkiness when it comes to jumping, where I'd sometimes starting sliding jumping down a hill or onto rocks. There's also an ability that Coen automatically gets after he becomes a half-vampire called "Planeshift". It lets him teleport dash around the world so he can reach higher areas or across gaps. It felt a little clunky and imprecise when scaling things like towers and trying to land back on solid ground. There's a glossary/beastiary that's structured just like The Witcher 3, and the soundtrack is basically, you guessed it, The Witcher 3 in all the best ways. And like one of my favorite parts of The Witcher 3, there are plenty of points of interest that lead to unique little narrative beats or quests. One saw me come across a villager searching for his brother. Following that little quest line led me to a buried tomb which led to a boss fight with an ancient warrior and cool loot at the end. One abrupt encounter in the world saw me chase the village asshole talking shit about my family. When his drunkard father catches us arguing, he scolds him more and tells me I should teach him a lesson myself and beat him with a stick. I can choose to partake in it, stand by and watch, or stop the father in a physical altercation. There's been a lot of questions about combat and from what I played, I liked it, moreso than The Witcher 3's. There are two ways to play: directional and traditional. With directional combat, you hold down a shoulder button to block while aiming in whatever direction you see an enemy attacking from. That's either up, down, left or right. It's simpler than something like Kingdom Come and I got used to it real quick. It sometimes got a liiiittle overwhelming when multiple enemies are attacking at the same time - and they do that a lot. Enemies don't wait around for their turn, instead opting to gang up on you to take you down. There's also the traditional or 'standard' combat, which is basically pressing a button that blocks enemies no matter what direction (your standard action game). You can also expectedly parry enemies that open them up for more damage. There is a stamina meter that depletes with blocks, and it depletes faster if you're playing standard, though you can upgrade your stamina as you play too. There are active abilities you can put into quick slots for faster use during combat. As there's a day/night cycle and Coen is a 'dawnwalker' - meaning he's human during the day and a vampire at night, you can switch between your swords in daytime and bring out your claws at night, which are more powerful. There are many abilities, though because I was playing the first hours of the game, I didn't get to see them all. One that I got to use was a powerful charge attack, and another was a flurry of deadly slashes with my claws. You can drain enemies to regain health with 'voracious bite', though enemies won't wait around while you're doing it so you have to be mindful. There are shrines dotted around the map that you can use to fast travel and upgrade your skills. There are tons of resources and items in the world just like The Witcher that you can use to craft potions and the like. Some can only be done during the day or at night. In terms of time progression, there are 8 time 'segments' per day and certain quests and activities can push the time forward a set amount of segments. I thought I would hate it at first, but it actually makes for some compelling choices in how you choose to progress the game. You're always shown when an action will progress time by the way, so nothing will take you by surprise. Running around and exploring the world doesn't push time forward. When your vampiric health drops really low, you become hungry and start to really crave blood. You can even lose control during dialogue and drain the person you're talking to - including friends. I didn't encounter that myself but the devs said those can have lasting effects throughout the game. This has definitely jumped up my most anticipated list for the rest of the year. It's practically The Witcher 3: Medieval Vampire Edition with its own flavor and unique mechanics and honestly...that is something I'm quite happy about. #BloodofDawnwalker

I played 4 hours of The Blood of Dawnwalker - and it's damn good. My full thoughts below 👇 The version we played was in beta and running on some powerful PCs. It was from the beginning of the game so I wasn't able to explore the entire map. It felt pretty polished overall and I didn't experience any bugs or performance issues during my time. The game takes place in Vale Sangora - it's a beautiful valley near the Carpathian Mountains full of lush trees, bogs, mines, and all kinds of wildlife and villages and communities roughly comparable in size to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine but packed with detail. There's a lot of neat history everywhere you look and explore, with references to Genghis Khan's hordes, the Tatars, and more. There are also little details that help make the setting a bit more real. Because Vale Sangora is run by the vampire leaders, silver is forbidden to have in your possession, and not every merchant will buy or sell them. It looks great visually, but I wouldn't say in a way that blew my socks off. Environments look good, trees, bushes etc all swaying in the wind, good lighting, character models are nicely detailed. It's not pushing things on a technical level but I found that perfectly ok. From the beginning of the game, a series of events introduces you to Coen's family - his parents and siblings. His father Pieter is a strong and stern caretaker who knows his way around a sword but deeply cares for his family. Coen's mother Esme is stricken by an illness that the whole family is trying to wrangle with, and his siblings are playful and endearing. As the vampires don't tolerate 'weakness', you start the feel the weight of the family's plight that gives off an aura of despair. At least in these initial hours, I found myself surprisingly growing attached pretty quickly. While there's an ominous metaphorical 'cloud' that hangs over the valley, there are bits of lightheartedness thrown in too. One charming quest saw me play tag with my siblings and go fishing in the old family hangout spot. Character performances and voice acting are excellent. There weren't really any characters that felt out place or miscast. I especially enjoyed the gravelly voices of Pieter and Brencis - the leader of the vampires. Brencis comes off formidable, and events in the game gave me a motivational drive for revenge, which I always like in games.
