Absolutely right. Palm Pre had Touchstone magnetic wireless charging in 2009, Apple introduced MagSafe for MacBooks in 2006. Neither invented magnetic charging itself, but both refined it brilliantly for consumer tech.

True. Samsung had Qi charging in Galaxy S6 2015, Apple added it in 2017 with iPhone 8. But the video is about MagSafe magnetic alignment, not just Qi. That's the difference. Apple added magnets in 2020, Samsung still hasn't built it in.

Right. Cases have magnets, phone doesn't. S Pen uses EMR which conflicts with magnets, but multi-layer shielding could work. Samsung just hasn't invested in it.

Totally agree with the last part. They all innovate in different ways, and sometimes one company popularizes an idea that others then refine. That cycle is actually good for everyone using the tech.

True. Note 7 fiasco (2016) was devastating. $5.3B loss, recalls, explosions. Samsung added 8-point battery testing since then. Justified caution.

@Hoxygo You know I honestly thought about returning to an iPhone 12, last year. It was one of my favorite models, I’ve ever had. But I was curious about the hardware and software, of the iPhone 16. iPhone 12 is still my all-time favorite model.

iPhone 12 was truly special. That flat-edge redesign, first OLED, MagSafe debut. it felt like a complete refresh after years of curves. Hard to beat that new era feeling, even with all the 16's improvements.
