It was with a heavy heart that I led a delegation to join other distinguished leaders and a multitude of sympathisers in Bauchi today, to perform the funeral prayers for the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed on Thursday. We bid farewell to an Islamic cleric with a remarkable record of service to humanity. The Sheikh was a globally renowned spiritual leader who left a legacy of Islamic scholarship, predicated on integrity and peace-building, in Nigeria in particular and on the African continent in general. He is on record as having dedicated nearly 70 years of his life to consistently delivering annual Ramadan Tafsir and offering deep insights on the Holy Qur’an. في ختام زيارتنا إلى #السعودية 🇸🇦، وبعد ما غمرونا به من كرمٍ أصيل وحفاوةٍ لا تُنسى، كان الختام مسكًا بهديةٍ معبّرة، قُدِّمت لفضيلة الشيخ شمائل الندوي من رجل الأعمال السعودي علي الحارثي – جزاه الله خيرًا وبارك في عطائه، وبحضور الاخ الفاضل/ سعيد القاضي وفقه الله وسدده💚 هديةٌ ثمينة في معناها قبل قيمتها، تمثّلت في قطعة من كسوة الكعبة المشرفة، ونسخة نفيسة من المصحف الشريف مغلّفة بقماش من كسوتها، في مشهدٍ يجسّد عمق المحبة، وصدق التقدير، وتعظيم كتاب الله وبيته الحرام. At the end of our tour of Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, after being overwhelmed by unforgettable generosity and warm hospitality, the ending was truly special. A meaningful gift was presented to Sheikh Shamail Al-Nadwi by the Saudi businessman Ali Al-Harithi — may Allah reward him and bless his generosity. A gift priceless in meaning before its material value: a piece of the Kiswah of the Holy Kaaba, along with a distinguished copy of the Holy Qur’an wrapped in fabric from the Kiswah itself—an image that embodies deep affection, sincere appreciation, and profound reverence for the Book of Allah and His Sacred House.
