An Oromo girl is disgusted by the lack of solidarity from her community as Somalis face challenges in the U.S. Many East African and Horner communities have benefited from Somali-built institutions, neighborhoods, and social capital in the West. Somali achievements in America inspire these communities to pursue similar success stories. Despite all this, these same communities are often the first to retreat into silence when things get tough.

Shhh, the babies are sleeping! (Sulwe closest, Lenny fidgeting behind, and Zigi is seen at the end) With three infants in the mix, our Umani herd now has a decidedly different rhythm. As adults, elephants sleep the least of any mammal, logging as little as two hours a day. But babies need rest — and lots of it! Sulwe, Lenny, and Zigi are just a few months old, requiring naps throughout the day. When they show signs of sleepiness, the entire herd stops and circles round, so they can rest safely and soundly. Born to orphans we rescued, raised, and rewilded, wild-born babies are testament to the success of our Orphans’ Project. Meet them all at:

When questioned if our CGT could drive people to places like Singapore and New Zealand, Jim Chalmers arrogantly says it won’t because it hasn’t happened to date. Firstly, that’s categorically false - we have lost major Australian-born success stories like Airwallex for tax reasons, as well as the most profitable trading divisions of mining giants BHP and Rio Tinto. Secondly, this is the same Treasurer who was explicitly warned by his own Treasury in 2023 that raising the tobacco tax would result in less revenue - which was conveniently omitted from the budget papers. He’s both shamelessly deceitful and seemingly incapable of grasping the very simple concept that changes in tax settings drive changes in behaviour.

With over 60% of our populations under 35, our shared realities are clear: Rapid urbanisation. Expanding higher education. Export-led ambition. Labour market transitions. Climate vulnerability. Engaging with the bright young minds of NSU, we reflected on how the Fourth Industrial Revolution — AI, automation, digital trade, and climate technologies — is reshaping economies and redefining opportunity. The future of our region will not be determined by past ruptures, but by the innovation, skills, and ambition of our youth. History reminds us that nations rise when knowledge and unity converge — and decline when fragmentation prevails. My message to the students was clear: New worlds are created by new ideas. Collaboration is strategic — not sentimental. And the destiny of nations lies in the hands of individuals.
