Africa Is One Market, But Not for Africans Africa has been treated as one big market for foreign goods, but Africans have been discouraged from treating Africa as one market for ourselves. The same people who tell us continental trade is too complicated have no problem moving their own products across our borders. They want access to Africa’s market, but they do not want Africa to trade freely with itself. Because an Africa that trades with itself is an Africa that becomes stronger, more independent, and less dependent on foreign imports. So when you see foreign products everywhere across the continent, while African products remain trapped inside their own countries, understand what you are looking at. Dependency by design.

BREAKING NEWS: The Kenya Revenue Authority have released a statement informing the public that it will not be renewing Humphrey Wattanga's contract as KRA Commissioner General. He proceeds on terminal leave with immediate effect. He has since been replaced by Dr Lilian Nyawanda, currently serving as Commissioner Customs & Border Control (C&BC). Dr Nyawanda started off her career in taxation at KRA in 2003 as a graduate trainee. In 2009, she moved to Deloitte as a senior consultant for Customs and international trade. An RWA Marketplace bringing the $2.7 trillion Agriculture Industry on chain. Recently, the Head of Institutional Growth of Solana, Nick Ducoff, has been mentioning $AGRI alongside Baxus and $ONDO as the prominent RWA projects within the Solana ecosystem. For me, personally, I think that this project stands out in terms of market opportunities having a real impact in the world as we know it. The agricultural market is very inefficient, opaque and could use blockchain to improve the quality of the processes significantly, which, from an investor perspective, is interesting as you can start allocating funds across the globe and get yield from those investments. $AGRI is still a micro-cap, but given that it's one of the few working within the agricultural sector and building a real RWA project on Solana, I'm definitely keeping this one on the radar.

We’ve delivered 20 trade deals, with more to come, opened new markets for American agriculture, delivered over $40B in assistance to farmers, strengthened the farm safety net, expanded crop insurance, cut red tape, reduced costs for farmers, and protected American agriculture from threats like New World Screwworm. We’ve been digging out of the hole we inherited — and the results are real: more trade opportunities, lower costs, a stronger farm safety net, and a USDA that is finally listening to the people it serves. NEXT UP: While Dept. of Agriculture reports have historically been the gold standard, farmer participation in surveys has been declining for over two decades. Survey response rates were once 85-90% and are now averaging around 40%. We’re exploring every avenue to modernize how USDA collects and reports data to reduce producer burden, improve collection efficiency, and enhance data products and transparency. To do this, we’re taking USDA directly to farmers by hosting listening sessions at state fairs and farm shows across America, hearing their concerns and ideas, and finding new ways to improve confidence in our data. The DEA statistics indicate the same thing: looking at the trafficking of cocaine, which is the main drug trafficked from the Andean countries to the United States, 74% goes through the eastern Pacific vector into Mexico, and a very small percentage—8%—comes from Venezuela. Do some drugs leave from Venezuela? Of course. There is not a country in the world where this does not happen, but that is not the problem. And in case you think this is an old map, here’s the latest one, from 2024. This indicates—although I don’t have the numbers here—this does indicate, from the UNODC as well, what we are talking about. So it’s nonsense to talk about the drug problem in that way. Second point on drugs: Most of the drugs do not enter the United States by illegal migrants swimming across the Rio Grande or by fast boats dashing across the Caribbean. It’s not true. The referral asked that Daszak be considered for a Tactical Terrorism Response Team examination - a secondary inspection that can include questioning and a review of electronic devices. VP Vance was asked about the ongoing tariff negotiations with Canada, and what he’d say to Maine businesses and consumers worried about the impact of those tariffs. His answer was 🔥🔥🔥 "Well, first of all, I’d say we’re very mindful of the fact that Maine is a border state with Canada. There’s a lot of cross-border transaction between Maine and Canada. And what we’re trying to do here is just make sure that Maine actually gets a fair deal. If you look at the amount of tariffs that have been applied not just on Maine but on a lot of our northern states that are doing cross-border trade with Canada, Canada and China have been the two worst countries when it comes to trade policy anywhere in the world. What a shame that is. China, you, of course, expect. They’re our biggest economic competitor. I would expect that from China. I would not expect that from Canada. We have to remember, Canada is a state—sorry, Freudian slip. That was actually an accident. 🤣🤣🤣 Canada is a country that has underinvested in its military that quite literally would get invaded by a foreign country were it not for the umbrella of protection provided by the United States of America. And so how does Canada actually respond to that? By treating the people of Maine fairly? No. They apply ridiculous tariffs and other non-tariff duties on Maine products coming into Canada, and they don’t expect Maine or anybody else to fight back. We’re sick of that. We are actually going to fight back against unfair trade practices whether it’s coming from China or Canada. Now, let me just give you a very, very simple and concrete example. If you buy dairy, cheese, butter, milk that comes from Canada into Maine, you probably are buying a product that has 0% tariffs on it. And by the way, if Canada applied 0%, that would be one thing. But you know, if a Maine farmer sends dairy products into Canada, they could be paying as much as a 250% tariff. Now, how is it fair to the farmers of Maine that they pay 250% when the Canadian farmers pay nothing? That unfairness is something that we just have to fix. And here’s what happened with the most recent round of negotiations. They’re still ongoing, and I want to be respectful of the process. But we know that Canada allows itself to be used as a backdoor for Chinese goods. They treat Chinese goods more fairly than they do the goods that come from the people of Maine. It’s insanity. And what we’ve said to Canada is stop it. Apply a basic principle of fairness to the trade that you’re doing between North Dakota and Canada, between Maine and Canada. And what happened at the very end is they came in with a bunch of unreasonable last-minute demands. I frankly thought we had a deal. I think that we should have a deal. But I think that we need to send a message loud and clear to the Prime Minister of Canada. STOP taking advantage of the people of Maine. Stop taking advantage of America. It’s over. We expect fairness in our trade policy." WELL SAID!
