Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday attended the condolence ceremony for Walat Tahir, a security officer at Erbil International Airport, who was martyred as a result of the attacks on Kurdistan Region’s capital. The Prime Minister conveyed his condolences and sympathy to the martyr’s parents and relatives. The Prime Minister later visited a hospital to see those wounded in the attacks on Erbil and wished them a swift recovery. In a statement to the media, Prime Minister Barzani again extended his condolences to the family of Walat Tahir, noting that this is not the first martyr of Kurdistan and will not be the last. The Prime Minister condemned the attacks on the Kurdistan Region and reaffirmed that these assaults have no justification and stem only from deep hatred toward Kurdistan and its people. He emphasized that the perpetrators should know that the hostile stance they have taken will not be forgotten by the people of Kurdistan. The Prime Minister called on the federal government and parliament to take a clear position and set limits on these criminals, noting that, unfortunately, the groups carrying out such attacks are funded by the Baghdad government and are provided with salaries and weapons. He said that under no circumstances can the continuation of these attacks be accepted, nor can the blood of our martyrs be wasted. He stressed that the Kurdistan Region is making every effort to keep Kurdistan away from war and turmoil, but as President Masoud Barzani has said, everything has a limit. He expressed hope that the federal government will draw a clear line for the perpetrators and stop supporting them. The Prime Minister reiterated that the Kurdistan Region has never been and will not be a source of threat to any neighboring country. He added that he has been contacted by world leaders, all expressing their support for the Kurdistan Region, and agreeing that mutual support is needed to restore peace.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and his delegation to Pakistan amid reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across multiple sectors, including trade, economic development, infrastructure and reconstruction, and promoting peace and stability in the region. During his opening remarks at the delegation-level talks, the Prime Minister said it was a great pleasure to receive the Iranian President in Islamabad and thanked him for accepting his invitation to visit Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, “I have no doubt that the brave and resilient people of Iran, with their immense capabilities and natural resources, will transform their country into a flourishing economy.” Pakistan and Iran would continue joint efforts to achieve shared prosperity, he added. The prime minister thanked the Iranian leadership for trusting Pakistan’s sincere and honest mediation efforts and assured Tehran that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in promoting lasting peace. “True brotherhood requires no questions or answers,” the Prime Minister remarked, emphasizing that Pakistan would continue supporting peace initiatives based on dignity, honour and mutual respect. The prime minister conveyed his warm regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader and praised the Iranian leadership for its efforts that led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the achievement of a ceasefire with “dignity and honour.” Expressing solidarity with the people of Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered his deepest condolences over the loss of innocent lives, including children, women, boys and girls, during the recent conflict. He commended President Pezeshkian’s sagacious, calm and vigilant leadership that had helped pave the way for a more peaceful future. Highlighting the role of Pakistan’s military leadership, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif particularly acknowledged the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, whom he credited with working tirelessly to facilitate dialogue and support the signing of the MoU. “He worked untiringly through difficult days and nights with one mission: to do everything humanly possible to stop a war that could have brought devastation across vast regions,” the prime minister said. He also referred to the first technical-level session held in Switzerland and thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar as well as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their diplomatic engagements and shuttle diplomacy efforts. The prime minister further appreciated the support extended by Qatar and other brotherly countries for advancing the peace initiative. He also lauded the contributions of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for their support and efforts toward regional stability. PM Shehbaz Sharif noted that he had informed Parliament about President Pezeshkian’s visit and said the people of Pakistan were delighted to welcome the Iranian leader. Reaffirming the close ties between the two neighbouring countries, he stated, “Iran and Pakistan are brothers, and we stand together in times of happiness and sorrow.” Addressing speculation regarding the contents of the MoU, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif clarified that ballistic missiles were neither included in the agreement nor discussed during negotiations, as the issue was not on the agenda. He cautioned against any misunderstanding regarding the agreement and suggested that certain elements had attempted to undermine peace efforts. The prime minister emphasized that there should be no confusion about the MoU’s scope, reiterating that it focused on promoting peace and stability and did not contain any provisions related to ballistic missile issues.

I want to thank President Donald J. Trump Donald J. Trump for his unwavering support for Israel. During my recent visit to Washington, I said that Donald Trump is the greatest friend that Israel has ever had in the White House. And President Trump shows that friendship each and every day. He has shown it through his visionary plan for Gaza, this is a plan which Israel fully supports. He's shown it by sending us all the munitions that were being held up. This way he is giving Israel the tools we need to finish the job against Iran’s terror axis. And he has shown it by fully backing Israel and putting the pressure to release the hostages where it truly belongs – on Hamas. Israel has accepted President Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff's plan to extend the temporary ceasefire by 50 days, during that time we can discuss the conditions for a permanent ceasefire that will end the war in Gaza. In Witkoff’s plan, half of the hostages would be released right away and the remaining half would be released if we reach an agreement on a permanent ceasefire. Again, Israel has accepted this plan. I accepted this plan. But so far, Hamas has rejected it. Hamas had also put forward positions for a permanent ceasefire that are totally unacceptable. Israel has decided to stop letting goods and supplies into Gaza, something we've done for the past 42 days. We've done that because Hamas steals the supplies and prevents the people of Gaza from getting them. It uses these supplies to finance its terror machine, which is aimed directly at Israel and our civilians – and this we cannot accept. We will take further steps if Hamas continues to hold our hostages. And throughout this, Israel knows that America and President Trump have our back. Thank you again, President Trump! Thank you for all you are doing to return our hostages, bolster our security and provide a future of prosperity and peace for all the peoples of the Middle East.
