At first I thought “guess they found out she couldn’t dance” but when I slowed it down, I saw Young Steff hits her face with his shoulder. My first-ever Notre Dame game was against Boston College. It was unforgettable—and not just for the football. It was 27° and during a blizzard. I wore steel-toe boots (rookie mistake), and despite two pairs of socks, I couldn’t feel my feet. I kept taking my boots off to try to bring them back to life. A kind lady behind me gave me foot warmers… which did absolutely nothing 😆 Southern boy meets Great Lake winter weather. Lesson learned.

Same driveway. It wasn’t that long ago I was knelt down in that same spot, taking the training wheels off her bike. Holding the seat. Running alongside. Letting go before she knew I let go. Today the car was packed, and she pulled out of that same driveway - headed to Ole Miss. She said goodbye to the dogs. To her brother. To me. And she took a piece of my heart with her 💔 I’ll see her in a couple of days. Doesn’t matter. It still hurts. But I thank God for the ache, because it means I got to be here for all of it. I put my 6 month old daughter to sleep with her pacifier and went to the kitchen to make dinner. A little later, I heard her crying and rushed back to her room. I thought she had dropped her pacifier, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. What I do soon as I get home is taking my socks off. It feels really comfortable after being bare feet, especially in spring and summer. Since I recorded this video 4 months ago, it was cold, but still even in the winter I often take my socks off pretty soon after getting home. What I’m saying in the movie is “sukkiri Shita”, which means that I’m refreshed being bare feet. I think I will put English translation in what I post from now on, if I have some time:) From now today, I will leave the house and commute to Izakaya (restaurant which has alcohol).
