Now that President Trump has declared that the US is in control of Venezuela and that the US plans on taking back the oil, it makes zero sense for there to still be sanctions on Venezuela under the Trump administration. The sanctions were imposed by the Trump administration in addition to an oil embargo and sanctions on entities involved in Venezuela's oil and gold industries, including "shadow fleet" tankers evading sanctions, because of Maduro’s behavior. Now that Maduro Nicolás Maduro has been captured, the Trump administration should immediately lift sanctions on Venezuela and restore all of the oil licenses to American energy executives and American oil companies. Why would you want to have sanctions on a country you yourself control when you could just re issue the oil licenses to Americans and retake the 1 million barrels of oil per day that are being exported to China from Venezuela? China shouldn’t be getting that oil. It should all be going to the United States. It’s time for America to neutralize Russia, Iran and China’s access to oil in the Western Hemisphere and assert energy dominance in Venezuela. Hopefully, we see the Trump administration reissue the oil licenses to American oil companies who have infrastructure in Venezuela. Maduro is out. This proposal represents a significant increase roughly 50% over the $901 billion defense budget approved for 2026. Trump described the increased funding as necessary for "troubled and dangerous times" and stated it would allow the U.S. to build a "Dream Military" Trump's actions regarding rearmament are not without purpose. He is aware that a conflict with China is on the horizon and that time is limited. This is also why Maduro was removed from power and why the US seeks to assert control over Greenland. We have crossed a pivotal threshold, and the sole measure that can avert another global conflict is deterrence. Should a conflict arise that cannot be prevented, it is essential for the U.S. to have access to the infrastructure and raw materials needed for the American military complex to produce weapons. One reason, apart from the sanctions, why Venezuela produces so little oil is that its drilling, shipping, and other capacities are so degraded and dilapidated. Here's where Trump makes another fundamental mistake by thinking that foreign investment by US or other foreign oil companies can suddenly or quite quickly increase Venezuela's oil production, which is absolutely wrong. This is going to take billions of dollars of new capital investment over an extended period of time before there's any real impact on Venezuelan production." On US President Donald Trump's statement on Iranian protests, he says, "What probably caught the Ayatollah's attention more than anything else was the capture of Maduro. They should be worried. But I think it's better to act rather than engage in rhetoric, as Trump does... in Iran, the anti-regime demonstrations are continuing and expanding.
