🇫🇷 The newest frigate of the French Navy Amiral Ronarc’h (D660), as well as the first ship in its class FDI (Defense and Intervention Frigates) has arrived at its home port Brest, joining the ranks of the Naval Forces. This ship, built at the shipyard of the French company Naval Group, is the first of five planned to be delivered to the French Navy, which will strengthen their surface fleet in accordance with the new plans of the French Army to increase defense spending. With a length of 122 meters and a displacement of 4500 tons, the frigate can reach a maximum speed of 27 knots (~50 km\/h) and maintain autonomy for 45 days, making it ideal for long voyages to crisis zones as well as for escorting carrier strike groups. The frigate is also equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and equipment: its arsenal includes Aster surface-to-air missiles, Exocet MM40 Block 3c anti-ship missiles, as well as MU 90 torpedoes and a 76-mm OTO Melara artillery system. Additionally, the ship can accommodate a helicopter and unmanned aerial vehicles, providing multifunctionality from anti-submarine warfare to supporting special forces operations. It’s Friday 8th March 2024. As I walk into London’s iconic Westminster Hall for the graduation ceremony of Masters in Clinical Trials London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine , I count myself privileged to have my lovely wife Dr Yemisi Adeyeye and our daughter,Adesewa in my company. The master of ceremonies starts by reminding us that the date is international women’s day. I wished in my mind that my late mum was alive to see this. She sacrificed a commonwealth scholarship towards a Masters in the UK,just to make sure her kids were fine in a time family crisis. A crisis which cost her health. Indeed many mothers in our dear country 🇳🇬 (and across the world) continue to make untold sacrifices in the face of socioeconomic uncertainty. She was so excited about my Masters program but alas, faith would not allow her experience the joy of my graduation. As I take my seat with my colleagues in the front rows, I recollect other memories of her….. She home-schooled me as soon as I could hold a pen; while still in diapers. She ensured that I didn't have to go through nursery class ,even though my school had insisted. I had to write the promotion exam to primary 1 in my first week in Nursery school just to prove my case. She made sure I left primary school in class 4 after coaching me on the common entrance exams for secondary schools, while still in Primary 3. She always made sure I came top of my class in every exam and was sorely disappointed when I came 2nd in my final exam in primary 4 (by one mark). Safe to say she wasn’t amused when I told her to relax since I already had 6 offers for admission into secondary school! She felt I took my feet off the academic pedal. She even taught me, as an adult, how to drive my first car,a manual gear exchange Toyota. I still wonder why I bought that model;it was so stressful! She kept encouraging me to be the best I could ever be. To go to the places she could never go (even though she had an excellent academic knowledge of the world through her career as a geography teacher). To achieve the things she aspired to but could not accomplish because of the unfair cards she was dealt with. She raised me to be humble,kind,courteous,hardworking,easy going and gentlemanly. The only time she beat me was when I almost drowned after disobeying her instruction not to go swimming with friends. I now know that she caned me more out of fear of loosing me. I smile as I remember the tears… I wipe a tear off my face when my faculty is brought up the stage. As my name is called, I quietly say out her name and walk the podium. The steps I take on the stage were in her memory, a fitting tribute to the sacrifices she made over the years. Rest in Peace Mum; your legacy lives on and your foot prints in the sands of time will not be forgotten. Let’s all continue to honor the women who inspire us✌️

Approx 70 dead bodies recovered by Army column Two additional Army Columns air lifted from Trivandrum by Indian Air Force Air Craft AN 32 & C 130 landed at Calicut at 10:30 PM last night. These columns commenced their onward journey to #Wayanad at 6:45 AM today, with even an Army Officer on leave volunteering to join the mission. Engineer Task Force from the Madras Engineer Group and Centre arrived on-site at 02:00 AM. A class 24, 170 Ft bridge is planned to be erected at Chooralmala. Reconnaissance at Meppadi-Chooralmala Road underway. Essential bridging assets to include three sets of Bailey Bridges, JCBs and TATRA trucks, are en route to #Wayanad and likely to reach by 02:00 PM Furthermore, bridging assets from Delhi, along with three sniffer dogs, have been airlifted by the Indian Air Force Aircraft C 130 and are expected to reach #Kannur shortly, with subsequent road movement to Wayanad being coordinated with civil administration. What in the world happened to Los Angeles? Leftism did. Socialism. Egalitarianism. Progressivism. Nihilism. The Democrat playbook. Los Angeles has become one of the clearest examples of what critics see as the failure of modern progressive urban government. The city sits on extraordinary natural advantages: beautiful weather, Pacific trade, world class universities, enormous cultural influence, immense private wealth, and an economy larger than that of many countries. Yet despite those advantages, Los Angeles has struggled with homelessness, housing costs, street disorder, public drug use, crime concerns, failing infrastructure, and a cost of living that has pushed many working- and middle-class families toward the exits. This decline is not accidental. For decades, Los Angeles has been governed almost entirely by Democratic and progressive political coalitions. Their policies have often emphasized regulation, environmental review, tenant protections, expansive social programs, restrictive zoning, and a criminal-justice approach aimed at reducing incarceration. Supporters say these policies protect vulnerable residents and correct longstanding inequalities. Critics counter that, taken together, they have produced a city where it is extraordinarily difficult to build housing, expensive to operate a business, difficult to remove dangerous encampments, and increasingly common for ordinary citizens to feel that basic rules are selectively enforced. The homelessness crisis is perhaps the most visible symbol. Billions of dollars have been spent, yet tents, addiction, mental illness, and human misery remain visible across parts of the city. The failure is particularly striking because Los Angeles is not a poor city lacking resources. It is a rich city that has repeatedly demonstrated that spending more money does not automatically produce competent government. Compassion without accountability is insanity. Allowing someone addicted to fentanyl to deteriorate on a sidewalk is not humane merely because arrest was avoided. It is also entirely inhumane to everyone around them. Making housing construction nearly impossible does not help the poor merely because the regulations had noble intentions. Taxing productive residents more heavily does not strengthen a city if those residents eventually leave. Los Angeles remains beautiful, wealthy, creative, and full of good people. That is precisely why its problems are so frustrating. The city demonstrates how even enormous natural and economic advantages can be squandered when ideology repeatedly outranks order, affordability, personal responsibility, and competent administration. The lesson is not that every urban problem has one partisan cause. It is that policies must ultimately be judged by results, not intentions and Los Angeles gives critics of progressive governance plenty of results to point to.
