[2] Hezekiah was pleased with them, and showed them his treasure house — the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil — and all his armory, and everything that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his palace and in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them. [3] Then the prophet Isaiah came to King Hezekiah and asked him, “Where did these men come from and what did they say to you? ” Hezekiah replied, “They came to me from a distant country, from Babylon.” [4] Isaiah asked, “What have they seen in your palace? ” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen everything in my palace. There isn’t anything in my treasuries that I didn’t show them.” [6] ‘The time will certainly come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon; nothing will be left,’ says the Lord. [7] ‘Some of your descendants who come from you will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ” and gifts to Hezekiah caused him soooo much excitement that he shared secrets or stuff in his treasuries with the enemy things he ought not to have done so 🤔🤔🤔🤔 *Result:* All what had been collected in the past was to be taken away and even some of his descendants would land into trouble *Why?* Because of a forefather who got excited and said what he needed not to have said. Similar situation: *2. 1 Kings 10:1-13 + 1 Kings 11:1-13* — Solomon & the Queen of Sheba Similar theme of displaying wealth leading to future trouble: - *Showing off*: - Solomon showed the Queen of Sheba _everything_ — his wisdom, palace, food, officials, temple. - “There was nothing hidden from Solomon that he did not explain to her” (1 Kings 10:3) and she saw “all of Solomon’s wisdom” and his wealth - *Judgment later*: Because Solomon’s heart turned to other gods through foreign wives, God said He would “tear the kingdom away” from his son (1 Kings 11:11). Like Hezekiah, Solomon’s display of glory preceded the kingdom being carried off. *The common thread:* 1. Leader gets blessed/recovers 2. Gets prideful and shows off God’s blessings/treasures to foreigners 3.
