『METAL SLUG 3』に登場する『マーズウォーカー』です。異星文明の脅威を表現するために、往年のSFアニメに出てきそうな、ちょっと可愛いデザインにしてみました。描いている時は、ふざけ過ぎてないか、と不安になりましたが、ラグネームに侵入後、あの巨体が現れた時は、まるでビルの谷間から現れたマシュマロマンのような、可愛くて怖い、いい感じの脅威になっていたと思います。映画好きの皆さんは、私が何をオマージュしてこのキャラを描いたか分かりますか？かなりキュートに描いているので、ちょっと難しいかもしれませんね。このキャラの元ネタは、1953年の映画『宇宙戦争』に登場する通称『ウォーマシン』という飛行物体なんです。「どこが似てるんだ？」と言われると、オデコのチョウチンアンコウのような『スキャニング・アイ』くらいしか似てないんですが、このプローブが良いんですよね。私の大好きな怪獣『宇宙大怪獣ギララ』にも、アンテナの前に同じような『スキャニング・アイ』がついてるんです。私が小さい頃に描いていた怪獣にも、たいていこの『スキャニング・アイ』がついていた気がします。小さかった私は、『スキャニング・アイ』こそ、地球を征服しに来た宇宙の悪者の象徴だと信じていたんですね。あと、マニアの方はご存知かもしれませんが、映画に登場する『ウォーマシン』には足は見えませんが、設定上は存在しています。 H.G.ウェルズの原作に登場する「トライポッド」には、金属製の立派な足が3本あるんです。その足は『マーズウォーカー』とは少し違って、カメラの三脚のような構造だったと思います。映画では、この『ウォーマシン』は、3本の見えないエネルギーの足で地面に立っている設定になっていて、火花や光のエフェクトで「ここに足があるんだよ！」と表現していました。そんなわけで、『ウォーマシン』に足を付けてみると、なんとなく『マーズウォーカー』っぽく見えてくるでしょ？とはいえ、子供の頃に見た『ウォーマシン』を数十年後、モチーフにしたわけですから、多少の脳内美化があったのかもしれませんね。もし宇宙人が地球を征服するなら、『トライポッド』より断然、『マーズウォーカー』をお勧めしたいと思います。 This is the "Mars Walker" that appears in METAL SLUG３. To represent the threat of an alien civilization, I gave it a somewhat cute design, like something you might see in a classic sci-fi anime. While I was drawing it, I was a bit worried it might look too silly. But when that huge figure appeared after infiltrating the Rugname, it felt like the right kind of threat. Cute and scary at the same time, like the Marshmallow Man emerging from between city buildings. The original inspiration for this character was a flying machine commonly known as the "War Machine" from the 1953 movie The War of the Worlds. If you ask, "What looks similar?", I’d say it’s mainly the anglerfish-like "scanning eye" on its forehead, but that one probe really makes all the difference. One of my favorite kaiju, Guilala from The X from Outer Space, also has a similar "scanning eye" in front of its antenna. Even the monsters I used to draw when I was a kid almost always had that same "scanning eye" on their heads. When I was little, I truly believed that the "scanning eye" was the very symbol of evil beings from outer space who had come to conquer Earth. For those enthusiasts who might know, the "War Machine" appearing in the movie has no visible legs, but according to the setting, they do exist. In H.G. Wells’ original novel, the "Tripod" has three sturdy metal legs. I believe those legs were structured somewhat differently from the Mars Walker, more like a camera tripod. In the movie, the "War Machine" is depicted as standing on three invisible energy legs, with sparks and glowing effects used to express, "Here are the legs!" That said, considering I used the "War Machine" I saw as a child as the motif decades later, maybe I was seeing it through a bit of nostalgic idealism.If aliens were to conquer Earth, I’d definitely recommend the Mars Walker over the Tripod. #METALSLUG #MarsWalker #PixelArt #GameDev #RetroGaming

I think I stumbled upon a ryona video of her on YouTube from the PS2 game ‘Death by Degrees’—and the rest is history 😌 Needless to say, this was an awesome series to rewatch! 😁

ヨル・フォージャーリョナ SPY×FAMILY Season 2 第8話旅行中とはいえ、前に「昔作ったけど投稿してなかった動画を上げるかも」って言ってたし… せっかくだから今週は、それらをどんどん放出していこうかな😆 ちなみに、これは“作ったのに投稿してなかった動画第1号”です🤭 なぜ投稿しなかったのか？単純に、ちょっと短すぎるかなって思ったのと、リョナ自体も長時間ボコられる系ではなかったから😅 でも正直、相手がヨル・フォージャーってだけで破壊力10倍なんだよね🤩 普段は圧倒的に強すぎるキャラだから、逆に苦戦してる姿がかなり新鮮だった！腕を撃たれ、スタンバトンで感電させられ、背後から大男に殴られ、首元を剣で斬られ、さらには胸の谷間まで斬られるという…😳 特に、感電してる時の表情と、壁に吹き飛ばされるシーンの表情が最高すぎる！あと、おまけだけど 0:46 でヨルに始末される女殺し屋の白目表情もかなり好き🤭 _____________________________ Yor Forger Ryona Spy x Family - Season 2, Episode 8 Even though I’m on holiday, I did mention that I might upload some videos I made a while back but never posted… So I guess for this week, I might as well upload all of em, right? 😆 This is the 1st video I made but never posted. The reason? Well I thought it was a tad too short, and the ryona itself wasn’t a prolonged beatdown or anything… 😅 But let’s be real, the ryona was amplified tenfold simply because it was on Yor Forger! 🤩 She usually beats her opponents so easily, so it was a treat to see her struggle for once! She gets: Shot in the arm, zapped by a stun baton, punched from behind by a large man, struck in the neck by a sword, and even gets sliced between her breasts 😳 Especially her expression when she’s electrocuted and the look on her face when she gets blown into the wall—they’re really cute! And as a bonus, I really liked the white-eyed expression of the female assassin when Yor disposes of her at 0:46 🤭

ララ・クロフトリョナトゥームレイダー: レジェンド・オブ・ララ・クロフト “作ったのに投稿してなかった動画”第3弾です😆 ララ・クロフトって、自分をリョナの世界に引き込んだ最初のゲームキャラかもしれない🙈 子供の頃、たまたまトゥームレイダーの“死亡シーン集”動画を見つけたのを覚えてるんだよね… …そこから似たような動画を探し始めて… …気づいた頃には、完全にリョナ趣味が定着してました🤣 なんで今まで投稿しなかったのか？単純に、自分の中で編集に納得しきれてなかったから😅 ちょっとした制作裏話なんだけど、普段はまず“ラフ編集版”を作って、その後に動画の流れを滑らかにするための2回目の編集をするんだよね😌 でもこの動画は、その仕上げ作業まで辿り着けなかった…。だから今回は、ほぼラフ編集版そのままです😅 とはいえ、旅行中で他に投稿できるものも無いしね🤣 それでも、ララ好きなら十分楽しめる内容だと思う！ …あと首絞め好きにもおすすめかも😈 本当にめちゃくちゃ首絞められるので🤣 _____________________________ Lara Croft Ryona Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft The 3rd video I made but never posted. In his 2022 work Music for the Ninth Silence, which connects life in Tokyo with Carl Jung's theories and features tracks each timed at 4 minutes and 33 seconds, and in his 2023 soundtrack MORAL, based on the iconic play by Koharu Kisaragi that reimagines 1980s Tokyo, TOMC has continued to delve into this relationship. His latest work, Shared Senses, is the culmination of these efforts. Urban life is characterized by countless people crossing paths, surrounded by various elements, where small dramas unfold within each person's daily existence. This album attempts to give form to the many abstract voices that float through city life. For example, in the two major tracks that define each side of the album-Shared Senses and True Blue Parade-TOMC employs a "poly-BPM" technique, where multiple tracks with differing tempos intertwine in cycles. This technique captures the subtle beauty and poignancy of fleeting encounters and missed connections in urban life. Furthermore, the interludes of En and Crowded Streets, Empty Bars feature a unique three-dimensional sound design, crafted using the free software Audacity, which seems to bring the textures of the city to life. The album also includes Opera City, a track inspired by the real-life Tokyo area spanning from Nishi-Shinjuku to Sasazuka, where reality and imagination crossfade seamlessly. Side A of the album, in particular, portrays the delicate emotions of people living in the city. Madoisen stands out as a track that draws inspiration from the song Goin' Home by Dvořák/Fischer, a familiar piece often played in Japanese elementary schools. This track, in its warmth and tenderness, encapsulates TOMC's gentle approach and perspective throughout the album. On the other hand, Side B takes on a more cinematic view of the cityscape. Crowded Streets, Empty Bars, inspired by a line from the lyrics of The Blue Nile, offers a prime example of this dramatic shift. The album concludes with En II, a reprise of the opening track En, which celebrates the lives and activities unfolding within the urban landscape. In conjunction with the release of Shared Senses, Kankyō Records has partnered with GRRRDEN, a Tokyo-based DJ and practitioner of plant therapy and raw chocolate, to offer a special essential oil blend alongside the album.
