これは「自動運転車が事故を起こした」のではなく、自動運転車に乗っていたら「人間が起こした事故に巻き込まれた」のでは。 相手も自動運転車だったらこの事故は起きなかったのでは。

Notes: This accident occurred at approximately 10:35 AM on June 13 near 2607 San Jacinto St. As the taxi was traveling along a one-way street, a red car approaching from the left failed to stop in time and collided with the taxi's front-left section. Just before the impact, the taxi driver noticed the danger and quickly steered to the right; this split-second reaction was the primary reason the severity of the accident was significantly minimized. The red car sustained damage to its front grille, while the taxi suffered damage to its front-left wheel that rendered it difficult to drive. Following the collision, the drivers promptly exchanged insurance information, and no injuries were reported. Although the driver and passenger of the red car, I do not wish to disclose further personal details out of respect for their privacy and in recognition of their sincere conduct. Uber, the ride-hailing service, provided appropriate compensation, and the matter was resolved without issue. This incident represents one of the minor errors that can occur during the development of autonomous driving technology, yet it will provide valuable feedback for the future; it is certainly not grounds to dismiss autonomous driving technology itself. I hope this incident contributes to technological advancement without casting blame on any of the parties involved. Furthermore, I hope the driver of the red car and their family receive the necessary support to ensure their lives remain unaffected moving forward.

ダラスダウンタウンエリアはUberと提携してるAvrideがかなり走ってて、絶対監視する人が乗ってます。相手が一時停止無視の上一方通行逆走してきましたね。 自動運転楽しんでらっしゃる様なので、監視員のいない完全自動運転のWaymoは別の専用appで呼べますよ😆

Context: This is the AVride service. About 200 vehicles in R&D and live fleet. 60,000 autonomous ride given (with supervisers), all on Uber platform in Dallas, Texas. It also has accumulated quite a few of those crashes, as we wrote:

That person who pulled out in front had a stop sign that they didn't stop for, so it wasn't the autonomous drivings fault 😂

例え逆走だろうが、目視可能からの距離的に、何度見ても回避できたケースだな、人間なら。ギリギリまで機械を信用しようとしたのかね。

自動だろうと手動だろうと止まれないタイミングでは止まれないのよね。 問題は責任をどうするかよね。

相手が止まってくれるだろうという典型的な「だろう運転」だな、自動運転は他のドライバーが道交法を無視した場合の対処は無理なのかな。（それを100%警戒したら道路を走らないのが正解になってしまうか）

左から来た車は、完全にこちらを見ていませんね。 全部自動運転の車ならこんな事故は起きないんでしょうが、バカみたいなドライバーが1人でもいたらどんなに素晴らしいシステムでも役に立たない事の証明に思えます。

高齢化先進国の日本も自動運転の導入は必須だと思ってるけど、この程度を回避できないレベルだと日本でテストするのはまだまだかなと感じてしまった。正直もうちょっと進化進んでるのかと思ってました。

I’m relieved that no one was injured. In my own experience with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, I’m confident that it could have prevented this accident.

This now-viral video of the AVride supervised robotaxi crash shows something critical, in my opinion: The safety driver is incentivized to make as little interventions as possible. Thus, while a normal driver or an actually intelligent driverless system would slow down...
