👍

Coming from Asia and living in Europe and the U.S., one thing I’ve never understood is why construction quality in the U.S. often seems so poor. Look at the flooring, the reinforcement rods, their density, and the overall materials used. Compare that to even middle-class homes in Asia—where they use deep piling (sometimes 50 meters even for a 3-story building), thicker concrete floors, and significantly more robust construction overall. Now compare that to houses in places like Florida or California—even high-end mansions. The amount of concrete, reinforcement, and overall structural solidity often feels minimal. In New York, some buildings also seem questionable in terms of floor thickness and reinforcement—it honestly feels like a compromise on quality. Why is this the case? Are construction standards, materials, or practices fundamentally different? I’d genuinely like to hear from someone with civil engineering expertise in the U.S. My own experience hasn’t been great either—lightweight materials, drywall (“false walls”), and what feels like low-durability construction. Sometimes it feels like these walls wouldn’t withstand even minor force. Why are homes built this way? In Europe, where winters are longer and harsher, buildings often feel much more solid and durable. Materials seem significantly better. Even friends from Asia joke about U.S. homes—calling them “plastic houses” with glued materials and shingle roofs that cost a fortune. Why is the housing system designed this way? Even if you’re willing to spend more, it’s hard to find builders who truly understand or deliver the kind of solid construction you see in many parts of Asia.

☺️

嗯

zero rebar, or is it my imagination

That's just the concrete slab! Normally, an insulation layer is laid on top of it and a floating screed is applied, which significantly improves sound insulation.

Very risky work

嗯

The slap doesn't look very thick and strong

😊

🤌🤌

floors can't lie 🤣 but sometimes they do when it's a thin 2" slab vs the recommended 4". poor sound insulation is real, especially in budget cuts. fr, maybe the devs were on a tight schedule? #builderproblems 😅

🤣🤣

No wonder

😎

That’s real luxury

😊

👌👍

Daha Bunun üstüne şap dökülecek

哦

@grok please explain this

@Hadji_El_24 😊
