This is a funny joke but seriously in a real conversation you would understand easily based off the context alone. It's the same in English and prob many other languages. (would/wood, bare/bear, check verb/check noun, etc.)

I watch a lot of Japanese videos on YouTube and the AI translation makes funny mistakes a lot. Like when the person talks about sorting paper, the English will say there is “lots of hair” instead. My favorite is “gyu gyu” which AI says is “many cows.”

to be honest it is kinda pointless to learn pitch accent when it's different in every prefecture, like many things in japanese context is everything.

English is much the same in many aspects. Like the words there, they're and their. All pronounced the same way, but spelled differently for the specific context they are used for.

Pitch accents are always fun. Norwegian has the same sort of thing, so I can actually hear the differences. But other languages like English, French, or Spanish don't have that system, so they can't really tell the difference.

このチャンネルは日本語を学び始めたばかりのときよく見てた。あのときほとんど何も聞き取れて字幕を読むのが必要だったけど、今はすべてわかるようになった。高低アクセントも。自分の作る文章はまだ完璧に自然ではないけど、結果はあると気づくのはいい感じね。

Flowerの「はな」とNoseの「はな」は同じ発音でいい、話の流れや補足する情報でどっちの意味か判断してるから 変な指摘したせいで余計ややこしく難しいものにしちゃってる

I took one semester of japanese before and was never taught about any tones. Every once in a while I see online that japanese is kinda a tonal language, so it seems strange that they don't teach you about tones in japanese classes. tones are super important in chinese.

Eso lo he leído muchas veces, y para el hablante de inglés es dificil porque ellos no manejan esos acentos de la misma manera, los que hablamos español podemos lograr las entonaciones más natural porque en nuestro idioma pasa lo mismo

I already made peace with the fact that I'm never gonna properly learn pitch accent, don't even try.

English same, I imagine. Its/it's, which/witch, to/too/two, etc.

I'm convinced every language has these intricacies in them just to mess with people who aren't native speakers, create humor, realize rules don't make sense and that ultimately context is king...? Probably. Also this:
