👍✨ Once you can make the bear claw weapon, the x6 parry bonus is amazing if you've got the timing down. If you miss a parry, it's good to have high max HP as the stun system is a % of your max.

Fastest way I've done is a mace/axe and a shield! Parry with a shield and hit it 3 times and wait for it to attack to do it again 😄

@___hushhush Yes Parrying works great . . . in fact Bears were added to the game last year to help encourage new players to learn good melee combat skills (parry and dodge). To many players were just relying on bows and then struggling when they got to later parts of the game.

Use torch on ur left hand, and sword/knife to stabby stabby and slash slash, bro run if see fire become lil chicken, but you need to make sure you are locked on him otherwise bro will turn around and slap yo booty

Upgraded flint hatchet, Tower shield, whatever upgraded armor you have, and a meat dish or two should be able to take it down with not too much risk. As long as you're careful to not get greedy with your attacks

If you've killed a few bears too, the claws of the bear fist weapons are also quite effective. They should let you parry the light claw swipes for more damage.

It’s so interesting to see people encounter early game enemies that are a challenge initially, but they are very easy to kill later on.

This time will definitely come. The Black Forrest is only the second biome out of eight. Once you get better food, weapons and armor, bears and trolls will be a breeze. Of course, you will have even more formidable enemies to deal with at that point.

there are several tall, narrow rocks in the Dark Forest region that are perfect for it. they work for any wolves that come down from mountain areas, too, but don't try that technique with trolls! 🤣

The bear is afraid of fire. A campfire or even a torch will suffice.

I have not tried that option. I did watch a video where someone used building to put walls around it quickly (I cannot aim and run so fast at the same time) and then put a regular campfire in with it.

If you stand on top of a burial chamber (the small building type) in the Black Forest, you can shoot freely and they can’t reach you. They can’t destroy the building either.

You can use a knife and circle around the bear, it attacks slow and straight forward. But bow is still the safer option.

Best way is to parry it until you get the bear claws then you can straight up box them if you’re good at parrying

I'm playing with a group of friends. We all played Valheim together when it was still in early access. When one of them shouted "Bear!" We all charged in to fight it together. I had to see the new bear with my own eyes. Then kill it. :3

They are also afraid of torches. Hold one in your off hand and they will bluff charge and miss almost 100% of the time.

Torch in one hand, axe in the other hand. As long as you don't turn your back on the bear it doesn't attack you and you can just hit it over and over. Once I learned that they went from terrifying monsters to one of the easiest enemies in the game.

It'll try to run away from you, so chase it into some trees or rocks so it gets stuck. Then just bash away. But he careful, if you ever turn your back to it, it will try attacking again.

once you get enough to make the bear set, it actually gets pretty easy. full set gives you a 6x attack boost after a parry, but oddly, being right in it's face with those bear paw gauntlets actually gets you hit less often cause the attack goes pass you most times

good luck. getting the timing right for the different attacks is key. also, the bear paw weapon is pretty fun🫶
