With a heavy heart, I am forced to come to terms with the passing of an icon Madam Onyeka Onwenu. I grew up listening to her music in the 80’s and I remember meeting her at a concert at the Shell Club RA in 1988. She left an impression on me that carried on for decades. Her records were a favorite during family road trips in the 80’s and early 90’s whenever we travelled between east & west. A 10 month old surrendered to the New York Animal Care Centers with the excuse(s) NO TIME and MOVING. They made it perfectly clear she was unwanted. After digging for more info, it seems this poor puppy seems to have come from a major hoarding situation where there were 16 dogs and 9 puppies were confiscated. Little by little they were coming to the shelter. We are so grateful that a new foster stepped up to save her life. While out to dinner in Los Angeles, exuding that natural warmth and vivaciousness she carried everywhere, she was approached by a band member and asked if she would be part of their reality TV show. She said yes, the way she always did to new experiences and new people. That moment led to her participation in their reality series "American Hustle Life," and from there, she was also invited to be part of their “Boy in Luv” LA music video.
