Archaeological Site of Troy has 4000 years of history. Its extensive remains are most significant and substantial evidence of first contact between civilizations of Anatolia and burgeoning Mediterranean world. Excavations started more than a century ago have established a chronology that is fundamental to understanding of this seminal period of Old World and its cultural development. Moreover, the siege of Troy by Mycenaean warriors from Greece in 13th Century BC, immortalized by Homer in Iliad, has inspired great artists throughout the world ever since. Troy is located on mound of Hisarlฤฑk, which overlooks plain along Turkish Aegean coast, 4.8km from southern entrance to Dardanelles. Archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann undertook first excavations at site in 1870, and those excavations could be considered starting point of modern archaeology and its public recognition. Research and excavations conducted in Troia and Troas region reveal that region has been inhabited for 8,000 years. Throughout the centuries, Troy has acted as a cultural bridge between Troas region and Balkans, Anatolia, Aegean and Black Sea regions through migration, occupation, trade and transmission of knowledge. The 24 excavation campaigns, spread over past 140 years, have revealed many features from all periods of occupation in citadel and lower town. These include 23 sections of defensive walls around citadel, eleven gates, a paved stone ramp and lower portions of five defensive bastions. Those archaeological remains date for most part from Troy II and VI; however, a section of the earliest wall (Troy I) survives near the south gate of first defences. In last 15 years, it has become clear that Lower City existed south of mound in all prehistoric periods and extended about 30 ha in Late Bronze Age. Several monuments, including temple of Athena and recently excavated sanctuary, are part of Greek and Roman city of Ilion, at site of Troy. Roman urban organization is reflected by two major public buildings on the edge of agora (central market place), odeion (concert hall) and nearby bouleuterion (council house). Surrounding landscape contains many important archaeological and historical sites, including prehistoric settlements and cemeteries, Hellenistic burial mounds, monumental tumuli, Greek and Roman settlements, Roman and Ottoman bridges and numerous monuments of Battle of Gallipoli. Archaeological site of Troy is of immense significance in understanding of development of European civilization at a critical stage in its early development. It documents an uninterrupted settlement sequence over more than 3000 years and bears witness to succession of civilisations. Hereโ€™s a no-secrets rundown: Training: I stacked aerobic bricks for 18 years, and it took those years of hard work for some commentators who havenโ€™t been following on Strava to view me as an overnight success. This one is for the brick-stackers. Long Post: Happy Birthday Cameron Green The world almost never saw Cameron Green. But here he is, standing tall at 198 cm, both literally and in spirit... Before he could even take his first steps, life had already thrown him into a fight. Diagnosed with stage-two chronic kidney disease before birth, doctors once told his parents he might not live beyond the age of 12. Weekly hospital visits, constant ultrasounds, and strict dietary routines were as much a part of his childhood as his love for the game... While most players focus on tackling the opposition, Green often had to battle his own body; pushing through frequent cramps caused by his chronic kidney condition while still standing tall at the crease... And yet, the boy who was expected to remain small grew into a giant. Not just in height, but in heart, hunger, and humility... He never asked for special treatment. In fact, most around him didnโ€™t even know about his condition. Not even Justin Langer, who had known him since he was 15. Green just kept showing up. Quietly, consistently, determinedly... From becoming the youngest player to take a five-wicket haul in the Sheffield Shield to rebuilding himself into a reliable middle-order batter after injuries, Cameron Greenโ€™s journey is one of resilience and evolution... Since 2021, while batting in the middle order, he has scored 1143 Test runs at average of 39.4. That average climbs to an impressive 46 in outside home Tests. Many seasoned specialist batters have struggled to maintain even a 35 average during this same period... His bowling average of 34 during this period might not grab headlines at first glance, but it's actually better than that of Mohammad Siraj and Ben Stokes over the same timeframe... Honestly, if I could have scripted it, I could not have imagined a more nail-biting storyline - tension building all night, and then that unbelievable release at the end. I have to admit: I was close to a heart attack. And then I cried tears of joy when Kristian Gkolomeev won the Menโ€™s 50m Freestyle in 20.81s, setting a new world record. He takes home a $1,000,000 bonus, a $250,000 first-place prize - and reclaims the 50m Freestyle world record. Think about what a world record actually means. It means you are better at something than roughly 8 billion other people on this planet. Let that sink in. I know some people expected us to break (many) more world records tonight. But as always in science: baseline matters. Enhancements bring out the best in you - but they are not a magic bullet. Kristian was already one of the best clean swimmers in the world - and then he added the icing on the cake to reach entirely new heights. And needless to say: the air gets thinner at the very top. Especially in the shortest events, breaking a world record has become harder and harder over the decades. And then there is the unquantifiable magic of live sport. It does not matter how good you looked in training camp. It all comes down to that one moment. A few athletes who were world-record contenders had injuries today. Others had stage fright. That is real sport. We have many more years ahead of us to break world records - one by one - and we will. We are just getting started. But world records are not even my favorite part. While breaking world records will always be one of the core themes of the Enhanced Games, what inspires me most is something else: the human drive to become the best version of ourselves. At every stage and time in life. Tonight, 22 personal bests were broken. And in many cases, these were not personal bests from last month or last year, but from many years ago. Megan defied aging in spectacular fashion and became a role model for all of us on how to age better - or maybe even how not to age at all โ€“ with the power and support of medical enhancements. Or take Emily Barclay - an athlete who had previously competed only at NCAA level. Her 50m freestyle time tonight would have been enough to win bronze in Paris. And it earned her $375,000. First Arrests Hint at How Billions in California Homeless $$$ Vanished Without a Trace on Gavin's Watch | Victoria Taft, PJ Media With the arrests and federal indictments of two California men announced on Thursday, we're now getting an idea of how California's billions of dollars to "end homelessness" vanished without a trace. Instead of helping to solve the problem of rampant tent encampments filled with addicts on the beaches and streets in California, things got worse. Where did all that money go? An audit in 2024 revealed that no one knew how the homeless money was spent. I wrote about this in "No Wonder Gavin Newsom Didn't Want an Audit to Track $24 Billion in Homeless Spending." The audit revealed that there were no guardrails or accountability for the use of that money or its expenditure. How could that be? No one was watching the store. California and Los Angeles handed out billions of dollars approved by voters to help end homelessness, and when homelessness got worse, no one in government could answer where all that money wentโ€”because no one checked. Now, the federal Homelessness Fraud and Corruption Task Force has begun running down the homeless scams that possess all the hallmarks of the ones Californians saw in its COVID spending and the notoriously poorly vetted unemployment scam, in which Nigerian princes and prison inmates alike received federal and state unemployment money. And then came the $100 million FireAid scam. All of this happened on Gavin Newsom's watch. The Homelessness Fraud and Corruption Task Force, which includes the IRS, FBI, and the Central California Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, whose nomination sits untouched by the U.S. Senate, announced the alleged scams that had escaped the notice of Los Angeles homeless officials and the State of California. One of the scams was run by the former chief financial officer at a downtown Los Angeles-based developer of affordable housing. Another was run by a property flipper who allegedly sold a property to a homeless housing developer for twice what he'd just paid for it, and lied to the original seller that he was going to develop the property for himself. The former CFO of the affordable housing developer, Cody Holmes, is charged with mail fraud, which could land the 31-year-old man in federal prison for 20 years. The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) "paid approximately $25.9 million in grant money โ€“ for a state homelessness project called โ€œHomekeyโ€ โ€“ to Shangri-La Industries LLC, a downtown Los Angeles-based developer of affordable housing." The money had to be used to purchase, construct, and operate a homeless housing development in Thousand Oaks. The company already had other homeless developments in the works as well. In 2022, when Holmes was Shangri-La's CFO, he "knowingly submitted fake bank records to HCD that purportedly showed approximately $160 million supposedly controlled by Shangri-La and its affiliates to prove that Shangri-La had the capacity to fulfill the homeless housing projects for which it had co-applied for grants from HCD, including the Thousand Oaks project." The bank accounts were fake. Nobody double-checked proof of funds, apparently. In the case of the property flipper, Steven Taylor, he is accused of constructing a labyrinth of bankers and lenders and lying to each of them to establish lines of credit. Get out your scorecard; you'll need one to keep up with this guy's moves: He is further alleged to have lied to Lender B in opening the $3 million credit line with Lender B, falsely telling Lender B that he had closed his $1 million unsecured line of credit with Lender C. He lied by fabricating and sending a document that purported to be an email from an employee of Lender C falsely confirming that the Lender C credit line was closed. In fact, Taylor continued to keep open and draw down on his line of credit with Lender C, even after he opened his $3 million line of credit with Lender B, and the email from Lender C was forged... And then he's accused of using "the fraudulently obtained lines of credit to make down payments on real estate that he also obtained with the fraudulent loans." Whoa. Can't stop, won't stop. He could go away for more than 30 years. And now you know why billions have been lost in an effort to "end homelessness." Voters and appropriators use other people's money to do what they think is good and then assume someone else will do the bean-counting. All programs like this must fund a program chief, an auditor, special master, and cops to keep watch over the cheaters, fakes, and bad guys. Any program that doesn't at least have those guardrails can't go forward. In the case of the property flipper, Steven Taylor, he is accused of constructing a labyrinth of bankers and lenders and lying to each of them to establish lines of credit. Get out your scorecard; you'll need one to keep up with this guy's moves: He is further alleged to have lied to Lender B in opening the $3 million credit line with Lender B, falsely telling Lender B that he had closed his $1 million unsecured line of credit with Lender C. He lied by fabricating and sending a document that purported to be an email from an employee of Lender C falsely confirming that the Lender C credit line was closed. In fact, Taylor continued to keep open and draw down on his line of credit with Lender C, even after he opened his $3 million line of credit with Lender B, and the email from Lender C was forged... And then he's accused of using "the fraudulently obtained lines of credit to make down payments on real estate that he also obtained with the fraudulent loans." Whoa. Can't stop, won't stop. He could go away for more than 30 years. And now you know why billions have been lost in an effort to "end homelessness." Voters and appropriators use other people's money to do what they think is good and then assume someone else will do the bean-counting. All programs like this must fund a program chief, an auditor, special master, and cops to keep watch over the cheaters, fakes, and bad guys. Any program that doesn't at least have those guardrails can't go forward. California's political class once again has beclowned itself and should be forced to undergo oversight and show a little humility. They're the real scam in the state. Read more:

Today I'm proud to announce that I've officially become an Aptos Advisor! Let's go back in time... I had my initial comeup years back through Facebook advertising, chasing a dream that required me to leave everything behind in France where I was studying at uni but learning nothing that wasn't already obvious to me. However I was met with him giving me his personal phone number, the one only his wife and kids had. I wasn't asking them to "put me on", but they did anyways. To an extent, they saw themselves in me, becoming mentors. My parents confused, at an instant I moved to Puerto Rico, where they ran their global operations from at a huge scale unlike anyone else at the time, and I became the youngest person under act 20/22 on the island. I later reverse image searched their tax attorney, showing up to the office in San Juan. I remember when I first entered the door, he looked around me to see if my parents were coming behind me, since I was so young. These mentors of mine would show me the ropes of how to really scale any product or SKU to 9 figures and beyond. Not just consumer goods, but software and subscription models - they had the Midas Touch with just an AMEX and a dream, going band for band with ANY Fortune500 Facebook marketing spend with much larger teams. It was unreal seeing their backend, filming ads in their home, and getting introduced to heavy hitters and some of the biggest web2 influencers like Logan Paul, which later would be convinced to become neighbors on the island, moving to Puerto Rico before the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight expecting a huge capital gains event. Fast forward a few years. I got into crypto starting in 2017, but really 2023. I remember hearing stories of my mentors being super early into ETH, fullporting with size in 2015, and telling me during the advertising era to "never fade Facebook", which stuck with me all these years - leading me to Aptos, being the premier ex-libra/diem team with a clear focus on money movement. The first time I sent stablecoins on Aptos it was just so obvious, this product is just better by a mile than anything else, reminiscent of the early days "Pre-meta" of Facebook advertising which created an infinite money generator with the right creative.
