Shaykh Jamīl ar-Rahmān al Afghanī fought the Soviets and gave Dawah and established the Islamic Emirate of Kunar upon Salafiyyah. Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī even went to Afghanistan and fought the Soviets with Shaykh Jamīl ar-Rahmān al Afghanī. He climbed those steep Afghani mountain tops and fired at the enemies of Allah with his own weapon. After many years of struggle Shaykh Jamīl was assassinated by the Ikhwan al Muslimūn and Kunar was conquered by drug dealing Ikhwanīs. May Allah have mercy on him.

With the recent passing of the esteemed Shaykh and Mufti, Abdul Azīz Āl al-Shaykh رحمه الله, I would like to emphasise the manhaj and way the Shaykh left behind, the Shaykh was an ocean of knowledge, and loved the people of Sunnah, and the seekers of knowledge. Indeed, he was a strong advocate of respecting the ulama, being just and careful when speaking about them, and focusing on finding the truth and not their faults. The Shaykh asserts his own responsibility is to state and clarify the truth, not to "count people's mistakes" or "hold people accountable for their mistakes." He concludes by emphasising the importance of raising generations to respect Imams and virtuous people, and to respect, honor, and appreciate the scholars.

This morning in Madinah I met an dear friend تمر المدينة🇸🇦Madinah Date and we enjoyed a brief visit to the old house and masjid of our beloved teacher and father Shaykh Ubaid al-Jaabiri رحمه الله تعالى We reminisced about our early lessons with the shaykh in which only 4-5 students attended and how although the shaykh was blind, he was still able to walk to the masjid alone from his home a few yards away. May Allah have mercy upon him and grant him Jannah. He was truly an amazing teacher.
