In the Operation 10 persons were arrested and seized 3000 kg Adulterated Tea Powder and 1500 kg Expired Tea Powder, 100 kg Jaggery powder and artificial synthetic colours. Investigation revealed that the accused were involved in unsafe and illegal practices such as mixing artificial colours, jaggery juice, used tea powder, and expired tea powder to improve appearance. The accused procured low-quality tea powder from vendors in Kolkata, Kerala and Assam, and adulterated the same using synthetic food colours such as Sunset Yellow FCF, Tartrazine and Total dye colour. Acting on credible information, the team inspected the premises of M/s Al Akbar Fast Food and Godown, located at New Laad Bazar, Panch Mohalla, Charminar. During the inspection, it was found that food items were being prepared and stored under extremely unhygienic and hazardous conditions, posing a serious threat to public health. โœณ๏ธMajor Violations Observed: โ€ข Operation without a mandatory FSSAI licence. โ€ข Use of prohibited/artificial food colours (MSK Lion Green and Raspberry Red). โ€ข Reuse of stale and hazardous cooking oil. โ€ข Absence of water analysis certification and quality control measures. โ€ข Gross unhygienic conditions and lack of pest control. Seizure Details: โ€ข Approximately 110 kg of prepared fried chicken. โ€ข 6 tins of loose cooking oil (15 litres each). โ€ข Artificial chemical food colours. Two persons responsible for running the illegal operations have been apprehended. Health Risks to Consumers: โœณ๏ธConsumption of such adulterated and unhygienic food may lead to: โ€ข Food poisoning, vomiting, and diarrhea. โ€ข Gastrointestinal infections. โ€ข Long-term health issues due to repeated consumption of reused oil. โ€ข Allergic reactions and toxicity due to artificial food colours. โ€ข Increased risk of serious illnesses affecting the liver and overall health. โœณ๏ธLegal Action Initiated: The accused, by concealing these unsafe practices and supplying adulterated food to consumers, have endangered public health and gained unlawfully. A case has been registered in Hussainialam Police Station under relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and other applicable laws. The accused persons and seized material have been handed over to the Station House Officer, Hussainialam Police Station, for further legal action.
