#Pune: #FDA Seizes Suspected Adulterated Food Stock Worth ₹37.61 Lakh Across Seven Locations Pune, July 13: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Pune Division, has seized food stocks worth ₹37.61 lakh during a special enforcement drive conducted across seven locations under the state-wide 'Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra' campaign launched by Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. The inspections were carried out between July 8 and July 12, during which officials seized 92,541 kg/litres of various food products over suspected adulteration and labelling violations. Samples have been collected for laboratory analysis, and further action will depend on the test reports. Among the major actions: * Sangli: FDA officials inspected Malti Agencies on Kupwad Road and collected samples of paneer and lassi. A total of 121 kg of stock worth ₹28,300 was seized over suspected adulteration and labelling deficiencies. * Kolhapur: At Balaji Bakers in Hatkanangale, samples of pista, orange, pineapple and mango cookies were collected. Around 86 kg of products worth ₹29,960 was seized for suspected labelling violations. * Pune: A milk tanker (MH 12 VB 4700) transporting milk from Ajinkyarana Milk Industries, Sangola (Solapur), was intercepted. Officials collected samples and seized 28,498 litres of milk worth ₹11.39 lakh on suspicion of adulteration. Since the milk was perishable, it was destroyed. * Pune: Another milk tanker (MH 16 CC 5001) transporting milk from Priyadarshini Milk Collection Centre, Ambilwadi, Ahilyanagar, was inspected. Authorities seized and destroyed 24,498 litres of milk worth ₹9.79 lakh after collecting samples. * Pune: FDA officials inspected Yashoda Milk and Milk Products, Junnar, collected samples of A2 Gir Cow Milk (DK Brand) and regular cow milk, and seized 1,806 litres worth ₹81,270 due to suspected adulteration and labelling violations. The unit has been ordered to suspend operations until further orders. * Solapur: A surprise inspection at Ajinkyarana Milk Industries, Sangola, found multiple violations, including the absence of purchase and sale records, operating without a valid licence, and breaches of food safety regulations. Officials collected samples, seized 37,532 litres of milk worth ₹15.01 lakh, destroyed the stock, and ordered the chilling centre to cease operations until further notice. In a separate action in Satara district, acting on confidential information, the FDA raided a cattle shed owned by Dilip Bhimrao Bhosale at Hol village in Phaltan taluka. Officials allegedly found whey permeate powder, spray-dried instant tea/coffee creamer, and other substances being used for milk adulteration. An FIR (No. 415/2026) has been registered at Phaltan Police Station against five persons, including the cattle owner and powder suppliers. Further investigation is underway. The FDA stated that strict action against food businesses operating without licences, violating food safety regulations, or selling adulterated and substandard food products will continue. An alleged racket that repackaged expired branded food products by changing their manufacturing and expiry dates has been busted in Delhi's Okhla Industrial Area, with seven people arrested and food products worth over Rs 20 lakh seized, police said on Friday. According to investigators, the accused bought near-expiry or expired products of popular brands at low prices and used chemical thinners to erase the original manufacturing and expiry dates. Genuine cloves and seeds feel rough and natural, while chemical-coated adulterated feel unnaturally smooth. Task Force and H-FAST (Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team) DCP, Vaibhav Gaikwad showed certain Adulterated Mustard Seeds not lose colour even after mixing in water and said: At one of the manufacturing facilities, low-quality and rejected mustard stocks were adulterated by mixing fabric dye, talcum powder, and oil to enhance the spice’s gloss, weight, and overall volume. In other units, spices such as cloves and shahjeera were found coated with synthetic colours to give them a bright and premium appearance. Permanent industrial dyes were used to adulterate Cloves, Shahjeera, Saunf, and several other essential spices. The accused said that they learnt of the adulteration methods from Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Sajjanar said. Holding a sachet used for adulterating mustard seeds, Mr. Sajjanar said ‘poisonous and non-edible’ was written on it.

Navi Mumbai - The Food and Drug Administration and Navi Mumbai Crime Branch have seized 4,142 cartons of food products worth an estimated ₹5.75 crore after expiry dates on packaging were erased and replaced with new dates.The raid was conducted at Sadhana Enterprises in the TTC Industrial Area, Turbhe. Officials found that manufacturing and expiry or use-by dates had been tampered with. New stickers showing ingredients and nutritional information were also found to have been altered.The seized products included brands such as Lays, Kurkure, Bingo, Fun Flips, Maggi, Rasoi, Knorr, Hellmann’s, Thums Up and Limca. The stock was linked to 10 companies.Police also seized additional unlabeled and expired food worth ₹30,600. Investigators suspect an attempt to replicate packaging. An FIR has been registered at Turbhe police station under the FSSAI Act, 2006, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The process to suspend the food licence of Sadhana Enterprises has been initiated.

Police seized approximately 3,790 kilograms of adulterated dairy products worth Rs 18.26 lakhs on Wednesday, March 4, in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The accused, Mohammed Junaid Hussain, illegally manufactured adulterated dairy products, including ghee, cow cream, and buffalo cream. He sold them under the brand "Pride Dairy" located in Bholanagar, Banjara Hills, Road no 12. The police raided Pride Dairy and apprehended the owner, Hussain, 26 years old, who was allegedly mixing palm oil, vanaspati (vegetable oil) and other low-quality substances in ghee to sell it to the public .Police seized a total of 460 kgs of adulterated ghee, 70 kgs of adulterated mixed ghee, 2,090 kgs of adulterated cow cream, and 1,170 kgs of adulterated buffalo cream. These adulterated products were being sold as original pure ghee to the public, hotels, and event organisers, posing a significant risk to public health.
