Yesterday, Burundi and DRC high command officials finalized offensive plans to retake Uvira. During a meeting held in Bujumbura, Burundi, the host country agreed to ensure coordination of these operations. Burundi is already hosting more than 30 thousands heavily armed militiamen who fled the fighting in South Kivu. Among them are members of the FDLR genocidal forces, Imbonerakure, Burundian soldiers, DRC soldiers, and Mai-Mai. He argued that their involvement stems from an invitation by a president who has pledged to destabilise the neighbouring government. "The difference is that they have an offence posture against our government (Rwanda), not against terrorist organisations like those in Cabo Delgado," says Nduhungirehe. He has since called for a summit between the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community, as well as a cease-fire, in order to find amicable solutions. Meanwhile, 13 SANDF soldiers have been killed during intense fighting with M23 rebels, who claim to have taken control of Goma.

Kinshasa continues to hide its military losses by making up stories and spreading propaganda, diligently carried out by news agency Reuters & news media TV5MONDE Info. And it is only after they had left, that the wazalendo stormed into the city to loot, shoot, and to attack civilians and their property. Here is the proof of the Minembwe blockade. A crime against humanity. Due to the blockade imposed on the population of Minembwe by the Burundian military, FARDC, and Wazalendo, women, mostly Banyamulenge and Bashi, and some men decided to take the risk and break this blockade to go get food for their children and not let them die of hunger. They crossed all the high plateaus and were able to buy some food after at least two days of travel. On the return trip, this morning at 5 am, about 80 to 100 people who made up the convoy fell into the ambush of the FDNB Burundi/FARDC/Mai-Mai coalition, which fired on these unfortunate people. The Burundian soldiers came from their camp in Mikalati with some FARDC, while the Wazalendo and some other FARDC came from Kipupu via Kigazura. A unit of Twirwaneho came from Mikenke to rescue these people in distress. Unfortunately, the harm was already done. The people were already scattered in the surrounding bushes and forests. While Twirwaneho clashed with these Mai-Mai/FARDC, whom they pushed back to Kipupu, the Burundian soldiers pursued the unfortunate ones in their hiding places, killed some, and took others hostage, bringing them to the camp. Others almost 30 are still missing in the bush luckily alive or dead. The toll is 4 men killed by Burundian and FARDC bullets, and reliable sources speak of 45 people, most of whom are women, detained at the Mikalati camp of FDN-Burundi and FARDC, with only 27 people arriving in Mikenke after losing everything. It should be noted that during these clashes, the coalition of evil called for air support. A helicopter intervened and fired on Twirwaneho. On its way back, threatening the villages of Minembwe, it was hit and fell into the lake. I denounce this blockade, which is a crime against humanity, and condemn this will to destroy the fundamental elements of the life of a single ethnic group by killing by starvation. Since AFC/M23’s arrival in Rubaya, armed groups like #Wazalendo and the FDNB have left the mine area, order has replaced previous chaos, workers’ daily pay has significantly increased (from about $1 to around $5–10), and AFC/M23 has instructed its own soldiers and cadres to stay out of mining operations. The mine functions through a clear chain: diggers extract and wash the ore, traders buy and transport it to the market where it’s certified and taxed, and a whole “mining village” economy (families, schools, markets) lives off this activity. Since AFC/M23’s arrival in Rubaya, armed groups like #Wazalendo and the FDNB have left the mine area, order has replaced previous chaos, workers’ daily pay has significantly increased (from about $1 to around $5–10), and AFC/M23 has instructed its own soldiers and cadres to stay out of mining operations. This report disputes the label of “blood minerals”, emphasizing that: (a) there are no soldiers or weapons in or around the mine today, (b) work is voluntary and seen as a livelihood, not forced labor, and (c) children who once worked in the pits have been pushed out by AFC/M23 and are now back in school. Historically, the area and nearby village were controlled by various armed groups, including #Nyatura, #Mai_Mai, and more recently the Burundian army, who profited from the mine, but today security is provided by AFC/M23 without any involvement in extraction. The broader claim that Congo’s current war is driven by Rubaya's coltan which would be "smuggled into Rwanda" is challenged in this report: the conflict is tied to long-term issues like refugees asking to return and ethnicized hate speech, while the coltan here remains, above all, a local resource sustaining a civilian community.
