He always looked like he could have played 5 or 6 shots off every delivery.

Sachin nd Lara two of my favourites.Sachin was more of a coaching Manual batsman where as Lara was magician who would take game away from opponents at rate of knots .Sachin was harder to bowl but you could build a spell around him but Lara would end the spell in a blink of an eye

His batting is so addictive; you can watch him for hours and still not get enough.

Sachin Tendulkar accomplished more but Brian Lara at his peak was simply magical and aesthetically better to watch

Lara had the freedom to attack at will cos he knew it was tough to win a game with the team he had at disposal. So he went there and just enjoyed his game. A treat for the spectators. This game they lost by 7 wickets but will be remembered for his plundering 226.

Absolutely comprehensively NO. His batting was smooth as silk ,music in motion. Nowadays it is all hammer and tong. Grace is missing. Lara was just too good.
