So the discourse around this Dave Ramsey clip is so mixed up that I’ve just decided to upload the whole thing. In the full context of the call, the caller makes it perfectly obvious that: 1. She has been with this man, whom she is now living with, for six years. 2. She is a nurse and can make her own money. 3. She has been out of school for two years, and in that time she has paid off $70,000 of the debt. In the course of the call, Dave never suggests that this man should have to pay for that debt. Indeed, he actively suggests that she leave him, which guarantees he will not pay for the debt. Dave also all but says that, because of her career choice, the caller will be able to pay for the debt on her own, even if she has to take extra hours. All Dave is saying—and this should have been obvious from the original clip—is that the two are not aligned on money and debt at all. It is also clear that Dave thinks the man is stringing her along, which he is. So they simply should not be married at all, because this is a fundamental failure in the relationship. I myself would add that, at this late stage in the relationship, if you do not trust a woman financially, you should simply not be with that woman. And that is perfectly fine. But what you do not do is drag her along for six years when she obviously wants to get married, and then put another two or three years of financial hoops in front of her so that maybe you will propose. It is a waste of everybody’s time.

This woman is a legal immigrant and is disgusted by what people from other countries like Mexico are doing in her new country. She came here from Mexico LEGALLY and has worked her whole life to get what she has. She never asked for a penny from the government. She didn’t come here to get something from the government, she came here for an opportunity and she got it - the American Dream. But to the people protesting: If you don’t want to be deported & you want to stay here you need to show your best behavior. “You think that we want you here with that behavior of burning cars, burning the entire city?” And for the people defending these violent attackers - shame on you! You’re not supposed to line up with them you’re supposed to tell them go to your country! You’re waving the flag of another country that you love? Go! You don’t need to be here, you don’t deserve to be here and you don’t deserve another opportunity in this country!

This happened at a gas station while both this man and woman were filling up their vehicles. The man noticed the woman flying the Mexican flag and asked her why she was flying that flag instead of a USA flag. Apparently she didn’t answer and he kept asking her. He told her he was asking nicely to respect “our” country (The USA) and she responded “I want to put MY flag up because I’m proud of being Mexican. I’m sorry that you’re racist…..” Many people had differing opinions. Some said good for her for sticking up for her culture, but others, even some Hispanic people said that the USA is now their country which has afforded them things that they never would have had possible before. That they were proud Mexican/Americans but they only fly the USA flag. I don’t think what he asked was racist. I think many people feel the same way, we are here, the USA is our country, why not be proud of the USA and fly OUR flag. Before you come at me, I have two kids- they are both part Hispanic/Mexican, so you can’t say I don’t like Hispanic or Mexicans. It’s not about that. Do you think this guy said anything racist? Here is some solid advice. Dont ever tell a woman who has been married almost 23 years (me) that I dont know what a woman looks like that is in love and lust with their husband. (As it should be) I absolutely know what it looks like. I am one. Eyes are the windows to the souls. You can't fake that. She loved her husband, and it showed. All over. You guys will do anything to demonize Erika. Anything. I'm sick of it. You can only wish that you had a love as genuine as they did.
