𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗦𝗬𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗦 After eleven unforgettable seasons in red, club captain and fans’ favourite David Symington has announced his retirement from football. From making his debut during the 2014/15 season to becoming one of the most influential players of a generation at Workington AFC, Dav leaves behind a legacy that will take some replacing. Across 296 starts and 54 substitute appearances, he scored an incredible 113 competitive goals for the Reds — alongside a further 19 goals in 56 non-competitive appearances. Numbers that only tell part of the story. A talisman on the pitch, a leader in the dressing room, and one of the most respected figures around the football club, Dav has played a huge role in so many memorable moments across the last decade. Whether it was spectacular goals, big performances in important moments, or simply the standards he set every single day around the club, he represented Workington AFC with pride, passion and commitment throughout. Football clubs are built on people as much as players — and Dav has been a massive part of this club both on and off the pitch. Everyone at Workington AFC would like to thank Dav for everything he has given to the club and wish him and his family nothing but the very best for the future. Only eight men in history have scored more than Cristiano Ronaldo’s 11 World Cup goals. But relative to his brilliance, his longevity and his status in the sport, as the all-time record goalscorer in both club and international football, that is a frustratingly meagre return. For a sporting superhero, the World Cup has resembled kryptonite… But Ronaldo’s legacy and his story has been written over the past two decades. He should not spend the rest of his life fretting about the one that got away. Oliver Kay on Ronaldo, the World Cup and a question of legacy. 🔗

Tom Brady breaks down what it takes to succeed at anything, emphasizing discipline, consistency, and a relentless commitment to improvement. Tom Brady is widely regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen. Selected 199th overall in the 2000 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, he rose from an overlooked pick into one of the most famous draft steals in sports history. His career, spanning more than two decades, was defined by leadership, poise under pressure, and remarkable longevity. With the Patriots, Brady guided the team to six Super Bowl titles and nine Super Bowl appearances. In 2020, he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and silenced doubts about his success being system-driven by winning a seventh Super Bowl in his first season, becoming the oldest quarterback to do so. In addition to championships, Brady set numerous NFL records, including most career passing touchdowns, passing yards, and playoff victories by a quarterback. His relentless discipline, preparation, and competitive drive redefined athlete longevity and secured his place as one of the most influential figures in modern sports history.

Tomorrow’s guest is a great friend of mine, Todd Peterson. Todd has had a huge impact on my life and my faith in God. Our conversation tomorrow is directed towards men and why we’ve titled the episode “A Message For Men.” In this clip, Todd talks about sin and salvation in God’s Kingdom. “Most of the messes we create for ourselves are sin-related.” Todd Peterson is the interim CEO and Chairman Emeritus of Seed Company, a world leader in accelerated Scripture translation. Seed Company has partnered with more than 900 other agencies to cumulatively impact more than 1,100 language groups over the last 20 years. Peterson was drafted in 1993 by the NY Giants, leading to a 13-year career in the NFL where he also played for Seattle, Kansas City, San Francisco and Atlanta. He set a number of team records and two NFL records – one of which is since broken (most 40-plus-yard field goals in a season). He was named NFL True Value Man of the Year for the Seahawks in 1996 and twice received the NFL Players Association Byron “Whizzer” White award for excellence in character and leadership on his teams. He was twice nominated for the NFL’s Bart Starr Award. Peterson retired in 2006 as one of only 34 players to score over 1,000 points. He is the only player in NFL history to make game-winning field goals for five or more different teams.

Novak Djokovic says Kei Nishikori is one of the most talented players he’s ever faced & that he would’ve achieved even more in his career if he was able to stay healthy “I’ve said it many times in the past that Kei is one of the most talented players that I’ve faced and that I’ve seen play. Incredible footwork. So quick. So comfortable being aggressive and being close to the line and playing equally fast and well and accurate on all surfaces. He was a very tough opponent to face.” “It’s just unfortunate that he’s struggled with his injuries so much in his career. I’m sure that he’d achieve even more things if he was a bit more healthier than he was in his career. I wish him all the best in his retirement. He’s created history for Japanese tennis and sport. He and his family and people should be proud of everything he’s achieved.” ❤️ (via US Open Press)

The Story Behind the One-Take Masterpiece 📺 Did you know one of the most iconic commercials in TV history happened completely by accident? In 1973, an advertising crew went down to a pier to shoot an ad for Oscar Mayer. They needed a kid, and 4-year-old Andy Lambros volunteered. With a fishing rod in one hand and a bologna sandwich in the other, he started singing. He didn't just get through it—he absolutely nailed the entire song in one single take. When Jerry Ringlien (the VP of Marketing) saw the raw footage the next day, he stopped everything and said, "That is the commercial." They loved Andy's charm so much that they even kept the very end of the raw footage in the final cut—the unscripted moment where he looks at the crew, asks "How's that?", and takes a massive bite of his sandwich. The Impact: •It skyrocketed Oscar Mayer sales and cemented the jingle in pop-culture history. •It put the legendary ad agency J. Walter Thompson "on the map" as an industry titan. •It launched Andy's career, leading him to star in over 20 more major commercials. Today, Andy is an accomplished artist, graphic designer, and computer programmer. But it all started on a pier with a sandwich. June 1993. Zola left Naples for 13 billion lire and landed in Nevio Scala’s Parma, in one of the strongest and most spectacular teams in the 90s. The dream attack is soon formed together with Faustino Asprilla and Tomas Brolin: fantasy, uncertainty, pure champagne football. In the first year he ended the season as the top-scoring representative of the championship, only behind Signori. With Parma present full consecration: European Super Cup and, in the 1994/95 season, victory in the UEFA Cup. Zola becomes the beating heart of a team that is able to compete with anyone in Europe, big and small at the same time. His expert punishment, a unique way of kicking to affect, a narrow crystal class: Tardini falls in love with him match after match. Three seasons as an absolute protagonist, 149 appearances and 64 goals with a cross jersey. Then, in 1996, the choice that will change history: London is waiting for him, and Chelsea is preparing to find the genius of Gianfranco Zola. But that miracle, for Parma, will remain unforgettable forever.

Lionel Messi just completely dismantled the modern football obsession with statistics and individual milestones. When asked by ESPN to reflect on his best year of his career, he immediately brushed off the numbers, stating bluntly: “I don't like statistics; today everything is about that. I like to be very involved in the game.” Despite sitting on 896 career goals at the time of the interview, he made it clear that chasing history was never his actual objective: “I don't play for that, I never cared about it. It wasn't in my mind to make an assist just to break a record or surpass someone else.” That is a sharp reality check for the current football landscape. In an era where media and fans constantly reduce a player's overall value to xG, heat maps, and goal contributions, the most productive forward of his generation views his own historical records as nothing more than an accidental byproduct of playing pure, intuitive football. Now that’s real GOAT mentality 🐐.

Marc Andreessen on Elon Musk: “I think probably the single biggest question in all of business right now is: why don't more CEOs operate the way that he does?” "The top-line thing is just this incredible devotion from the leader of the company to fully, deeply understand what the company does, and to be completely knowledgeable about every aspect of it." "To be in the trenches and talking directly to the people who do the work, deeply understanding the issues, and being the key, lead problem solver in the organization." "What Elon does is—he shows up every week at each of his companies, he identifies the biggest problem that the company's having that week, and he fixes it. He does that every week for 52 weeks in a row. And then each of his companies has solved the 52 biggest problems that year, in that year." "The side effect of it is—he attracts many of the best people in the world to work with him. Because if you work with Elon, the expectations are through the roof in terms of your level of performance." Source: Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸 on Chris Williamson

🚨WHAT THE HELL?!!! A mother is outraged after her 17-year-old son was sh0t and k*lled at work in Charlotte NC... ...and prosecutors DROPPED the m*rder charge against one of the Black male suspects AND NOW HE WILL ONLY SPEND 5-7 YEARS IN PRISON!!! His name was Fate Brannon. He was 17 years old. He worked at a Jack in the Box in Charlotte, NC. He prayed with his mother the morning he died. He told her he'd call her after his shift. He never got the chance. He was sh0t and k*lled during a robbery at that restaurant. TWO people were charged with his first-degree m*rder. In February, one of them, a 16 year old Black male, took a plea deal. Prosecutors dropped the m*rder charge. He pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy instead. His sentence for a role in the k*lling of a 17-year-old boy? 5 to 7 years. And now his mother is watching the SECOND suspect, a 28-year-old Black male who has been arrested MULTIPLE TIMES, fight to get his charges dismissed too. "The system already failed us when he was out here. Is the system about to fail us again?" Fate Brannon will never see 18. And the people charged with taking his life are getting deals and dismissals. I am so sick of this... North Carolina, will you ever FUCKING LEARN?!!!!!!!!!!!!! Say his name!!!!!! Fate Brannon.
