He criticised the absence of the Minister... for Health in the Dáil Chamber to respond to the plight of whistleblowers who, despite presenting peer-reviewed evidence and FOI documents, are ignored, discredited, and left vulnerable. Deputy McGrath referred specifically to a whistleblower who alleged regulatory failures, including misuse of end-of-life protocols in nursing homes during Covid and the failure of agencies like the HPRA HPRA and @ to act on vaccine safety concerns. He called for an immediate independent inquiry, demanding that the Department of Health, HPRA, and Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI )respond transparently and that whistleblower protections be enforced. In response, Minister of State Kieran O’Donnell TD for Limerick City Constituency , speaking on behalf of Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD , gave a procedural reply. He outlined the existing protected disclosures framework and the Department’s encouragement of staff to report wrongdoing without fear of penalisation. Minister O’Donnell assured that reports forwarded to the Protected Disclosures Commissioner are handled confidentially and fairly, but he did not address Deputy McGrath’s specific allegations or commit to an independent inquiry. In his rebuttal, Deputy McGrath reiterated the urgency and gravity of the whistleblower’s claims, including possible loss of thousands of lives, regulatory inaction, and systemic cover-ups. He again pressed for a public inquiry and immediate ministerial action. In closing, Minister O’Donnell reiterated the Department’s general commitment to the protected disclosures process but made no new commitments beyond referring the matter back to the Minister for Health. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received a delegation of American companies led by Steve Lutes, Vice President for Middle East Affairs of the US Chamber of Commerce. In the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, the Prime Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and support of the United States. He highlighted the KRG’s reforms in economic diversification, particularly in energy, agriculture, banking and digitalization of public services, noting the success of both MyAccount and Runaki projects. The Prime Minister also reiterated the Kurdistan Region's readiness to provide all assistance to domestic and foreign investors. On behalf of the delegation, Mr Lutes, thanked the KRG for the warm welcome and said many American companies are ready to develop trade relations with the Kurdistan Region. Finally, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister answered questions and comments from the representatives of the companies, which included Google, IBM, Visa, Pepsi, and Coca Cola.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the funeral ceremony in Soran for the six Peshmerga who were martyred in the Iranian missile attack in the early hours of Tuesday March 24. Following his participation in the ceremony, the Prime Minister delivered a statement to the press to extend his condolences to the families and relatives of the martyrs and to the people of Kurdistan. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing on the patriotic path of the martyrs. In this regard, the Prime Minister said: “With deep sorrow, we extend our condolences to His Excellency President Barzani, to the relatives and the proud families of the martyrs, and to all of us over the loss of these six heroic martyrs. We also wish the wounded a speedy recovery.” The Prime Minister reiterated that they were victims of treachery and betrayal, and that the attack on Peshmerga Forces was carried out without justification. He said that it is because of the blood of the martyrs that we live with pride in our country, and that Kurdistan is precious because of their sacrifice. Just as the blood of the martyrs has never been shed in vain, this time too it will not be in vain. The Prime Minister also stressed that while we do not want to be drawn into any war and want Kurdistan to remain protected, we will do whatever is necessary to protect Kurdistan and defend the dignity, rights, land, and homeland of our people. He emphasized that we will continue along the path of our martyrs and the path of President Barzani.

Last night, after midnight, I visited Buzibwera Health Centre IV in Buzibwera Town Council, which houses the headquarters of Mbarara District and serves a highly populated area. A resident reported that one of the midwives advised him to transfer his pregnant wife to Mbarara because the facility does not conduct deliveries on weekends. He further alleged that he was charged UGX 100,000 to use the ambulance. The health workers also highlighted gaps, including the lack of essential equipment such as an ultrasound scan. I have directed that an audit be carried out on the number of staff at the facility and that these concerns be forwarded to my senior colleague the Minister in charge of Health, Hon. DR. CHRIS BARYOMUNSI, for urgent action to address these gaps and improve service delivery. During the warm and cordial meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the Canadian Foreign Minister to Pakistan and stated that the two countries enjoyed friendly ties that needed to be further expanded, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, agriculture including agri-foods and vaccine manufacturing, renewable energy, as well as the automobile and auto parts industry. He conveyed his greetings and best wishes for Prime Minister Mark Carney and said that he looked forward to meeting him soon. I wish to draw the attention of the Hon'ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare to the plight of accredited social activists, or ASHA workers, who are the unsung heroes of India's healthcare system. ASHA workers have played an instrumental role in improving maternal and child health, increasing immunization rates, and raising awareness about nutrition and sanitation. Their contributions are especially crucial during the Covid-19 pandemic, where they played a frontline role in the healthcare response. Despite being overburdened with responsibilities and working 12-14 hours a day, they are still classified as volunteers, and they receive meagre honorariums and incentives, which are often delayed, leaving them and their families struggling financially. In Kerala, ASHA workers only earn ₹7000 a month, and the government hasn't paid them for months. They have staged nationwide protests over the years demanding official employee status, payment of arrears, better working conditions, retirement benefits, and access to mental and social security services. Their ongoing protest highlights the systemic undervaluation of community health workers in India and particularly in Kerala.
