I am beyond grateful. This tour was THE highlight of all highlights of my life. I had no expectations coming in, I just wanted to help take good photos, for the team and the blooms as well. However, I didn't expect that my heart would be so full of love and friendship after my own 'tour' of 8 states, and 11 cities in 23 days. I never felt exhaustingly tired, until now. Naramdaman ko na rin ang sakit ng katawan ๐Ÿ˜… In retrospect, this was maybe because at every stop, from NY to SEA, everyone was all positivie vibes, walang epal. Everybody had a good time before and after each concerts. I never met anybody who said otherwise. TEAM BLOOM USA , I will never stop thanking the people leading this group for the trust and opportunity. If not for your hard work and perseverance, this will not come to fruition. And to the rest of the USblooms I've met along the way, thank you for making every stop memorable. To Team Bini, thank you for accepting me into your group. Working with you all was a breeze. I really appreciated the camaraderie and for giving me the chance to be my own creative self. I've seen now why BINI is so good because of the team that supports them behind the scenes, cares about each one of our walo. They held each other accountable and keep them grounded as well. Good morning, There are times when you have to seat down and have a meeting with yourself! Be honest and ask yourself the tough questions? Yes my parents didnโ€™t leave me a lot but they made me as literate as they could. Yes the economy is tough but have l really given it my all in trying to forge a path for myself or the next generation or l have chosen to accept what is being offered to me. Some decisions you have to question them yourself,l go around with an iPhone 17 promax but l saved for 4 months to buy the gadget,is this the best use of your 4 months savings ? You can afford to have a small stand but instead l believe in Yolo,you only live once so l rent a $1000 dollar apartment instead of $400 dollar,yet at 40 years the same person will be blaming the economy for not owning a home. I have a friend who is either at Evitro,Smokehouse and he posts receipts every Monday,$900 or $1200 and they will be 4 of them every weekend. So l do the quick maths,thatโ€™s $200 per weekend for beer plus probably another $100-$150 for the girls they will be with, Itโ€™s simple maths that is about a $1000 USD per month of You only Live once,then add the rentals and fuels e.t.c per month thatโ€™s around $1500 to $2000,yet he doesnโ€™t mind because he believes he will even make it bigger and better. The honest question is what guarantee does he have that tomorrow he will have this capacity to make $2000 a month or more like he is doing now! I am one of those people who is so obsessed with traveling and running ,sat down with myself and noticed that last year l went to SA 5 times to just run and at a minimum if l go with family that is 2 k per trip,so roughly that is 10 k spent on just running,one day my kids will ask dad what did you do with your life and l will give them stupid medals if l donโ€™t mange myself! All I am saying is we all have the beautiful things we love in this life and the real question is when are we going to stop and build for the next generation !

FEDERAL JUDGE ORDERS SNAP FUNDING TO MATERIALIZE. GOLDEN HINDU IDOL 15 STORIES TALL TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN RURAL NORTH CAROLINA.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events- United Kingdom: On Saturday, a mass stabbing was carried out on a train bound for London from Doncaster. 10x people remain in critical condition as a result of the attack. The assailant has been identified as Anthony Williams. A separate individual who may have also been involved in some way was arrested at the scene. This individual has not been identified, but authorities have stated he is of Caribbean descent. Police also tased one man on the platform after the train arrived at the station, however this was a case of mistaken identity and the tased man was released without charge. -HomeFront- North Carolina: Local concern has emerged following plans to build a massive Hindu "temple" in the small town of Moncure, just west of Holly Springs. This extremely large and sprawling complex is planned to have a golden idol that will be roughly 155 feet tall...one foot taller than the Statue of Liberty. This project was announced earlier this year, but has gained notoriety as the construction plans move forward. Analyst Comment: Small towns in historically Christian rural areas are often targeted for the construction of golden idols due to the ease of bribing/influencing local officials to obtain permission to build commercial facilities. In this case, Moncure is an extremely small town that doesn't really engage in any zoning (they leave it to the county to decide), so it's easy to pencil-whip the re-zoning of private residential property to allow for the construction of a pagan idol that will dominate the terrain for dozens of miles. This idol is not even built yet, the area slated for it's construction is still just undeveloped land. However, (to the surprise of literally no one) it's already featured heavily in the Google search results for Moncure, NC as the top tourist destination for the town. Hindus have already spammed the reviews for the structure that doesn't exist yet, giving it top marks and praising the facility as great to visit...with the owners of the place celebrating the fake reviews of a non-existent facility, while simultaneously admitting that the facility doesn't exist yet. Washington D.C. - U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell Jr. has ordered the White House to ensure that emergency funds are used for the SNAP program, stating that "the USDA must distribute the contingency money timely, or as soon as possible, for the November 1 payments to be made". Analyst Comment: That brief description was more or less the entire order, which was oral in nature. However, a lot of other things have to click into place to make this order come to fruition, especially due to the complexities of the Judiciary ordering the Executive to do something that is technically the job of the Legislative. Despite the very obvious problem with this arrangement, the issue is now tied up in court, effectively stalling the distribution of at least some electronic deposits. However, some EBT recipients have reported getting their funds as they have before, so it's not clear as to what funds are being disbursed, or to whom. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: The train stabbing attack in the United Kingdom is one of the most significant attacks in recent British history. A Major Incident was declared and a PLATO response was initiated (which is the colloquialism for an active terror attack in progress). The details of the attack itself are not entirely clear, but at the moment the eyewitness statements indicate this one was ugly. A train car packed with people who cannot escape makes for an exceptionally vulnerable target for malign actors. Witnesses state that the attack took a long time to complete, and that the stabbings were carried out over a period of 15-20 minutes. This was made worse by the fact that this mass attack was 100% preventable. The attack onboard the train was actually the *fourth* stabbing attack conducted by Williams within a 24 hour period. Authorities have not confirmed anything; all of this investigative legwork is being conducted by private citizens as the British government has been silent on the matter. However eyewitness statements indicate that Williams was likely the same man who stabbed a 14-year-old in Peterborough the day before (October 31). That same day, Williams was observed brandishing a knife in a barber shop in Cambridgeshire. Williams is also suspected in stabbing a different man in East London on November 1st. In all prior cases, either the police did not investigate at all, or did not circulate his photo or issue a BOLO notice. This was quite literally a case of a madman with a knife stabbing anyone he liked over a period of two days, before the final culminating attack took place onboard the train. Concerning motive, this meets all definitions for being classified as a terror attack. However, British authorities have very adamantly stated that it isn't a terrorist attack. Trust is nearly nonexistent with British authorities at this point, but the story told by the Transit Police is that this was a private dispute between two criminals, which devolved into one of them attempting to stab the other. Due to the tight quarters of a packed train car, this resulted in everyone in the car becoming unwillingly involved. At the moment, this version of the story appears to be false for many reasons, first and foremost is the detail that Williams had already conducted three stabbing attacks prior to the one on the train. What started the incident inside the train car remains uncertain. However, once violence had been undertaken the assailant tried to kill everyone on the train, and a general state of bedlam erupted as passengers fled up and down the train to escape the attack. This is confirmed beyond all doubt, by the CCTV footage that was leaked, showing Williams pursuing passengers down the platform after arriving at Huntingdon Station. This is about as smoking-gun as it can get, and confirms that the attacker did indeed attempt to target citizens deliberately, as opposed to people just getting in the way of a private murder attempt. As a reminder, there are at least two security cameras at each end of every car on the London North Eastern Railway trains. So footage of the attack (and importantly, everything that led up to it) does exist. Since this footage probably won't be released, the most important witnesses to consider when trying to figure out what happened, are those who at present cannot speak...the individuals still undergoing intensive medical treatment are the people who were closest to the attack and their testimony carries much weight. At the moment, there have been no fatalities, but prayers are strongly encouraged for the survivors to ensure their rapid recovery. More broadly, this attack highlights the extreme need for citizens who are not just prepared physically, but also mentally. Train driver Andrew Johnson became aware of the attack, and instead of stopping the train on the tracks (where police and medical would take some time to arrive), Johnson diverted the train to a different track which would take the train into the next-closest station (which happened to be Huntingdon) where police would be waiting, radioing ahead to ensure that the attack on his train could be stopped as soon as possible. One railway crew member onboard the train (who has not yet been named due to being wounded) also displayed great courage by blocking the passage of the attacker, delaying his rampage down the train for a time, sustaining severe wounds in the process. Several passengers also carried out the time-honored tradition of using violence-of-action to take the fight to the attacker (all of whom were wounded during the attack). Stephen Creen was wounded while attempting to stop the attacker, along with several others who attempted to do the same even though everyone except for the attacker was unarmed. In short, details may be hard to discern, but currently it looks like most people did the right thing; those who could fight, did so. Those who couldn't, fled and attempted to warn other passengers down the train, as well as caring for the wounded. This attack proves once again that almost everything can be done correctly, and the fight still be a hard one. Attacks will continue, this is unfortunately a certainty. If not from deliberately planned terror attacks, then from random outbursts of violence. But, the first steps in the British re-conquering their kingdom will be to foster a culture of using extreme violence, to stop extreme violence. Not out of malice or hatred, but out of the desire to stop the harm to innocent people. For far too long the British government has portrayed sheer survival instinct as hatred, which is pure gaslighting that couldn't be further from the truth. Attacks like this, while horrific, do a lot to show the British people that stopping a mass murdering lunatic requires violence, and exercising this violence to protect the innocent is a good thing. As such, considering this rampage will be in the news cycle for a while, it will be absolutely crucial to applaud the actions of those who did what they could to stop the attack. The assailant has been identified as Anthony Williams. A separate individual who may have also been involved in some way was arrested at the scene. This individual has not been identified, but authorities have stated he is of Caribbean descent. Police also tased one man on the platform after the train arrived at the station, however this was a case of mistaken identity and the tased man was released without charge. -HomeFront- North Carolina: Local concern has emerged following plans to build a massive Hindu "temple" in the small town of Moncure, just west of Holly Springs. This extremely large and sprawling complex is planned to have a golden idol that will be roughly 155 feet tall...one foot taller than the Statue of Liberty. This project was announced earlier this year, but has gained notoriety as the construction plans move forward. Analyst Comment: Small towns in historically Christian rural areas are often targeted for the construction of golden idols due to the ease of bribing/influencing local officials to obtain permission to build commercial facilities. In this case, Moncure is an extremely small town that doesn't really engage in any zoning (they leave it to the county to decide), so it's easy to pencil-whip the re-zoning of private residential property to allow for the construction of a pagan idol that will dominate the terrain for dozens of miles. This idol is not even built yet, the area slated for it's construction is still just undeveloped land. However, (to the surprise of literally no one) it's already featured heavily in the Google search results for Moncure, NC as the top tourist destination for the town. Hindus have already spammed the reviews for the structure that doesn't exist yet, giving it top marks and praising the facility as great to visit...with the owners of the place celebrating the fake reviews of a non-existent facility, while simultaneously admitting that the facility doesn't exist yet. Washington D.C. - U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell Jr. has ordered the White House to ensure that emergency funds are used for the SNAP program, stating that "the USDA must distribute the contingency money timely, or as soon as possible, for the November 1 payments to be made". Analyst Comment: That brief description was more or less the entire order, which was oral in nature. However, a lot of other things have to click into place to make this order come to fruition, especially due to the complexities of the Judiciary ordering the Executive to do something that is technically the job of the Legislative. Despite the very obvious problem with this arrangement, the issue is now tied up in court, effectively stalling the distribution of at least some electronic deposits. However, some EBT recipients have reported getting their funds as they have before, so it's not clear as to what funds are being disbursed, or to whom. -----END TEARLINE----- Analyst Comments: The train stabbing attack in the United Kingdom is one of the most significant attacks in recent British history. A Major Incident was declared and a PLATO response was initiated (which is the colloquialism for an active terror attack in progress). The details of the attack itself are not entirely clear, but at the moment the eyewitness statements indicate this one was ugly. A train car packed with people who cannot escape makes for an exceptionally vulnerable target for malign actors. Witnesses state that the attack took a long time to complete, and that the stabbings were carried out over a period of 15-20 minutes. This was made worse by the fact that this mass attack was 100% preventable. The attack onboard the train was actually the *fourth* stabbing attack conducted by Williams within a 24 hour period. Authorities have not confirmed anything; all of this investigative legwork is being conducted by private citizens as the British government has been silent on the matter. However eyewitness statements indicate that Williams was likely the same man who stabbed a 14-year-old in Peterborough the day before (October 31). That same day, Williams was observed brandishing a knife in a barber shop in Cambridgeshire. Williams is also suspected in stabbing a different man in East London on November 1st. In all prior cases, either the police did not investigate at all, or did not circulate his photo or issue a BOLO notice. This was quite literally a case of a madman with a knife stabbing anyone he liked over a period of two days, before the final culminating attack took place onboard the train. Concerning motive, this meets all definitions for being classified as a terror attack. However, British authorities have very adamantly stated that it isn't a terrorist attack. Trust is nearly nonexistent with British authorities at this point, but the story told by the Transit Police is that this was a private dispute between two criminals, which devolved into one of them attempting to stab the other. Due to the tight quarters of a packed train car, this resulted in everyone in the car becoming unwillingly involved. At the moment, this version of the story appears to be false for many reasons, first and foremost is the detail that Williams had already conducted three stabbing attacks prior to the one on the train. What started the incident inside the train car remains uncertain. However, once violence had been undertaken the assailant tried to kill everyone on the train, and a general state of bedlam erupted as passengers fled up and down the train to escape the attack. This is confirmed beyond all doubt, by the CCTV footage that was leaked, showing Williams pursuing passengers down the platform after arriving at Huntingdon Station. This is about as smoking-gun as it can get, and confirms that the attacker did indeed attempt to target citizens deliberately, as opposed to people just getting in the way of a private murder attempt. As a reminder, there are at least two security cameras at each end of every car on the London North Eastern Railway trains. So footage of the attack (and importantly, everything that led up to it) does exist. Since this footage probably won't be released, the most important witnesses to consider when trying to figure out what happened, are those who at present cannot speak...the individuals still undergoing intensive medical treatment are the people who were closest to the attack and their testimony carries much weight. At the moment, there have been no fatalities, but prayers are strongly encouraged for the survivors to ensure their rapid recovery. More broadly, this attack highlights the extreme need for citizens who are not just prepared physically, but also mentally. Train driver Andrew Johnson became aware of the attack, and instead of stopping the train on the tracks (where police and medical would take some time to arrive), Johnson diverted the train to a different track which would take the train into the next-closest station (which happened to be Huntingdon) where police would be waiting, radioing ahead to ensure that the attack on his train could be stopped as soon as possible. One railway crew member onboard the train (who has not yet been named due to being wounded) also displayed great courage by blocking the passage of the attacker, delaying his rampage down the train for a time, sustaining severe wounds in the process. Several passengers also carried out the time-honored tradition of using violence-of-action to take the fight to the attacker (all of whom were wounded during the attack). Stephen Creen was wounded while attempting to stop the attacker, along with several others who attempted to do the same even though everyone except for the attacker was unarmed. In short, details may be hard to discern, but currently it looks like most people did the right thing; those who could fight, did so. Those who couldn't, fled and attempted to warn other passengers down the train, as well as caring for the wounded. This attack proves once again that almost everything can be done correctly, and the fight still be a hard one. Attacks will continue, this is unfortunately a certainty. If not from deliberately planned terror attacks, then from random outbursts of violence. But, the first steps in the British re-conquering their kingdom will be to foster a culture of using extreme violence, to stop extreme violence. Not out of malice or hatred, but out of the desire to stop the harm to innocent people. For far too long the British government has portrayed sheer survival instinct as hatred, which is pure gaslighting that couldn't be further from the truth. Attacks like this, while horrific, do a lot to show the British people that stopping a mass murdering lunatic requires violence, and exercising this violence to protect the innocent is a good thing. As such, considering this rampage will be in the news cycle for a while, it will be absolutely crucial to applaud the actions of those who did what they could to stop the attack. AI legal startups are a thing in 2024. But as Ironcladโ€™s Jason Boehmig puts it, โ€œnobody was trying to buy an AI legal assistant back in 2015.โ€ Ironclad has one of the most interesting and underexplored stories out there IMO. As we were developing First Round's PMF Method, we learned so much from their journey โ€” super grateful Jason took the time to share his insights for other builders. ๐Ÿ™ Here were a few of my takeaways: ๐Ÿ”ฌ Zoom in to find focus โ€œIt was actually fairly easy to sign up early customers โ€” what was difficult was finding a product that could address that market. That took us several years of iteration. We had to try to figure out what pieces we could peel off into a repeatable, discrete software product. We quickly realized the really interesting part of the problem was in repeatable business transactions โ€” sales agreements, employment agreements, NDAs licensing agreements, partnership agreements. A lot of our competitors tried to do everything that corporate legal teams do. But we were only doing the contract part.โ€ ๐Ÿ“ฃ Expand an existing category (with an existing buying cycle) But the initial AI legal assistant positioning wasnโ€™t resonating. Iโ€™ve talked to 100s of founders about PMF and the story of how Ironclad got unstuck is one of the wildest ones Iโ€™ve heard. โ€œ100% of the time I had to explain what an AI legal assistant was. We had a hello@ironclad.ai email on our site. One day I got a one-liner message that said, โ€˜Hello, are you a CLM?โ€™ I was so close to hitting archive, but it was from someone at a publicly traded company. But what was a CLM? Turns out itโ€™s a Contract Lifecycle Management platform that helps enterprise companies create and manage their legal contracts. By that definition, we were. So of course I wrote back, โ€˜Yes, we are definitely a CLM, we would love to come demo our CLM for you.โ€™ But while we were really great at creating contracts with our AI legal assistant product, we hadn't put a lot of thought into how you deal with contracts afterwards, with a feature called a repository. And so we had set up this demo with the legal team from this publicly traded company, and I turned to my co-founder Cai, and said, โ€˜By the way, we have 3 hours to build a repository.โ€™ We took the train from SF to San Jose and he built the first version of a repository, which we demoed live at the end of the train ride. This customer was in a CLM evaluation cycle that had 12 other solutions in it, but they loved the demo. So we went and actually built the full product, and we won. And after that, of course, we changed our messaging. We got serious about building CLM functionality and that's our flagship product to this day. There were lots of people out there trying to buy a CLM so we just got to participate in a lot of buying cycles, but with the AI legal assistant buying cycle, we had to create every one of those.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Artificially constrain the buyer and build community early โ€œOne of the things that we did which was really helpful in hindsight was we artificially constrained the buyer we were going after. Once we decided to make the shift to enterprise, instead of trying to address the whole US market or the whole global market, we decided we only cared about being the number one CLM in SoMa. We got a list of every company that could use the CLM in SoMa and got intros to them โ€” it just provided a ton of focus for us. It's how we also stumbled into doing community. We would host these community dinners and if you were a general counsel of a company based in SoMa, you probably knew other people that were coming to them. But as Ironcladโ€™s Jason Boehmig puts it, โ€œnobody was trying to buy an AI legal assistant back in 2015.โ€ Ironclad has one of the most interesting and underexplored stories out there IMO. We had a [email protected] email on our site. One day I got a one-liner message that said, โ€˜Hello, are you a CLM?โ€™ I was so close to hitting archive, but it was from someone at a publicly traded company. But what was a CLM? Turns out itโ€™s a Contract Lifecycle Management platform that helps enterprise companies create and manage their legal contracts. By that definition, we were. So of course I wrote back, โ€˜Yes, we are definitely a CLM, we would love to come demo our CLM for you.โ€™ But while we were really great at creating contracts with our AI legal assistant product, we hadn't put a lot of thought into how you deal with contracts afterwards, with a feature called a repository. And so we had set up this demo with the legal team from this publicly traded company, and I turned to my co-founder Cai, and said, โ€˜By the way, we have 3 hours to build a repository.โ€™ We took the train from SF to San Jose and he built the first version of a repository, which we demoed live at the end of the train ride. This customer was in a CLM evaluation cycle that had 12 other solutions in it, but they loved the demo. So we went and actually built the full product, and we won. And after that, of course, we changed our messaging. We got serious about building CLM functionality and that's our flagship product to this day. There were lots of people out there trying to buy a CLM so we just got to participate in a lot of buying cycles, but with the AI legal assistant buying cycle, we had to create every one of those.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Artificially constrain the buyer and build community early โ€œOne of the things that we did which was really helpful in hindsight was we artificially constrained the buyer we were going after. Once we decided to make the shift to enterprise, instead of trying to address the whole US market or the whole global market, we decided we only cared about being the number one CLM in SoMa. We got a list of every company that could use the CLM in SoMa and got intros to them โ€” it just provided a ton of focus for us. It's how we also stumbled into doing community. We would host these community dinners and if you were a general counsel of a company based in SoMa, you probably knew other people that were coming to them. So, Iโ€™ll answer your question with them in mind, and do so by sharing an open letter I wrote to Barack Obama sixteen years ago, shortly after I launched mikeroweWORKS. You can read it here/ That letter was posted in 2009, when the country was entering a recession and lots of people were unemployed. In an effort to get America back to work, President Obama pledged to create three million โ€œshovel readyโ€ jobs as part of his Highway Infrastructure Act. In my letter to him, I wished the new President every success, but shared my concern that many of the business owners I had met on Dirty Jobs were already struggling to fill thousands of โ€œshovel readyโ€ positions. According to the BLS, even with twelve million people out of work, 2.3 million of these "shovel ready" positions remained open, many in manufacturing and the skilled trades. Despite the mainstream assumption that more jobs would automatically lead to less unemployment, it seemed pretty clear that the skills gap was not a consequence of too few jobs, but rather, a consequence of too little enthusiasm for the jobs that already existed. In other words, along with the skills gap, there was also a โ€œwill gap.โ€ It seemed to me that โ€œcreatingโ€ more shovel ready jobs would be a tough sell to a country that was not all that excited about picking up a shovel. Thatโ€™s when I started to incorporate recruiting messages into every episode of Dirty Jobs. And thatโ€™s why I offered to help the Obama administration make a more persuasive case for the new โ€œshovel readyโ€ opportunities they hoped to create, by partnering with mikeroweWORKS. In part, I think the โ€œwill gapโ€ is a consequence of stigmas, stereotypes, myths and misperceptions that dissuade millions of people from considering a career in the trades. I think itโ€™s critical to debunk those misperceptions with real-world examples, and mikeroweWORKS does that every day. But thereโ€™s nothing we can do about the underlying math, which is exacerbating the problem exponentially. Consider: for every five skilled workers who retire this year, two will replace them. So, Iโ€™ll answer your question with them in mind, and do so by sharing an open letter I wrote to Barack Obama sixteen years ago, shortly after I launched mikeroweWORKS. You can read it here/ That letter was posted in 2009, when the country was entering a recession and lots of people were unemployed. In an effort to get America back to work, President Obama pledged to create three million โ€œshovel readyโ€ jobs as part of his Highway Infrastructure Act. In my letter to him, I wished the new President every success, but shared my concern that many of the business owners I had met on Dirty Jobs were already struggling to fill thousands of โ€œshovel readyโ€ positions. According to the BLS, even with twelve million people out of work, 2.3 million of these "shovel ready" positions remained open, many in manufacturing and the skilled trades. Despite the mainstream assumption that more jobs would automatically lead to less unemployment, it seemed pretty clear that the skills gap was not a consequence of too few jobs, but rather, a consequence of too little enthusiasm for the jobs that already existed. In other words, along with the skills gap, there was also a โ€œwill gap.โ€ It seemed to me that โ€œcreatingโ€ more shovel ready jobs would be a tough sell to a country that was not all that excited about picking up a shovel. Thatโ€™s when I started to incorporate recruiting messages into every episode of Dirty Jobs. And thatโ€™s why I offered to help the Obama administration make a more persuasive case for the new โ€œshovel readyโ€ opportunities they hoped to create, by partnering with mikeroweWORKS. To be honest, I didnโ€™t really expect President Obama to respond to a guy who had become famous for crawling through sewers, but it never hurts to ask โ€“ especially when youโ€™re trying to raise awareness about an issue that impacts every American. And so, I wasnโ€™t discouraged when my offer was ignored. In fact, over the last sixteen years, Iโ€™ve made similar offers to other presidents, and other elected officials. Iโ€™ve met with several governors, partnered with several likeminded state-run initiatives, and spoken to Congress, twice, about the importance a national campaign to reinvigorate the trades. Unfortunately, the โ€œwill gapโ€ is still with us. Today, 7.2 million able-bodied men are not only unemployed, theyโ€™re not even looking for work. And still, according to the BLS, we now have 7.6 million open jobs - most of which do NOT require a four-year degree. In part, I think the โ€œwill gapโ€ is a consequence of stigmas, stereotypes, myths and misperceptions that dissuade millions of people from considering a career in the trades. I think itโ€™s critical to debunk those misperceptions with real-world examples, and mikeroweWORKS does that every day. But thereโ€™s nothing we can do about the underlying math, which is exacerbating the problem exponentially. Consider: for every five skilled workers who retire this year, two will replace them. Itโ€™s been that way for over a decade, and the arithmetic is clearly not sustainable. In fact, every big company in the country that relies on skilled labor โ€“ including those responsible for our national defense โ€“ is in desperate need of skilled labor, and competing with each other to get it. And now, President Trump wants to create more skilled jobs by bringing manufacturing back to America. As with President Obama, I wish President Trump every success. I want our country to be less reliant on China, and less dependent on foreign workers. But my questions today are no different than they were sixteen years ago โ€“ if the President succeeds with his objective, where will the skilled workers come from? As of last February, there were 600 hundred thousand open jobs in the manufacturing sector. If we canโ€™t fill the jobs that already exist, how will we fill the jobs the president wishes to create? How will we persuade the next generation to give the skilled trades an honest look? At mikeroweWORKS, the answer is simple. We award work ethic scholarships to people who qualify, and then, after they begin their career of choice, we share their stories as widely as possible. Stories like Johnny Goodsonโ€™s, a former musician who found a rewarding career repairing heavy equipment. Johnny is one of 2,200 people weโ€™ve assisted to date, who found a new and rewarding life in the skilled trades. Its stories like his that need to be shared far and wide, so please help me do so. Advances in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and quantum computing are not only revolutionising economies but rewriting the reality of conflict, as they โ€˜convergeโ€™ to create science-fiction-like tools. AI-powered robots and drones are brilliant for scaled manufacturing but devastating on the battlefield. Discoveries that cure disease can also create new weapons. Power itself is becoming more diffuse, more unpredictable as control over these technologies is shifting from states to corporations, and sometimes to individuals. And at the same time, the foundations of trust in our societies are eroding. Information, once a unifying force, is increasingly weaponised. Falsehood spreads faster than fact, dividing communities and distorting reality. We live in an age of hyper-connection yet profound isolation. The algorithms flatter our biases and fracture our public squares. And as trust collapses, so does our shared sense of truth โ€“ one of the greatest losses a society can suffer. The defining challenge of the twenty-first century is not simply who wields the most powerful technologies, but who guides them with the greatest wisdom. Our security, our prosperity, and our humanity depend on it. Our world is being remade. And for the first time, we are all at the heart of it. Alongside the grinding war, Russia is testing us in the grey zone with tactics that are just below the threshold of war. Itโ€™s important to understand their attempts to bully, fearmonger and manipulate, because it affects us all. I am talking about: Cyberattacks on critical infrastructure. Drones buzzing airports and bases. Aggressive activity in our seas, above and below the waves. State-sponsored arson and sabotage. Propaganda and influence operations that crack open and exploit fractures within societies. Countering this activity is the work of intelligence and security services across Europe and the globe. And as the Foreign Secretary made clear in a speech last week, the UK is defending itself against this Russian information warfare โ€“ sanctioning Russian media outlets pushing Kremlin narratives. The export of chaos is a feature not a bug in this Russian approach to international engagement; and we should be ready for this to continue until Putin is forced to change his calculus. So, we will work with our agents. And we will continue to engage directly, and with respect, with states and organisation currently working against us. Away from the glare of the media, we will use MI6โ€™s convening power wherever we can to make a material difference, bringing parties together to defuse tensions. But the response to the increasing risks we face wonโ€™t be delivered by the UK intelligence community alone. Wider society has a role to play too. That includes work taking place in schools across the country so our children donโ€™t get duped by information manipulation. As we do today with our friends in Australia after the shocking antisemitic terrorist attack this weekend. My thoughts -and those of my whole organisation โ€“ are with the family, friends and loved ones of the victims. Light will always win over darkness. In rising to meet these challenges we, in MI6, will remain anchored to our values: courage, creativity, respect and integrity. And to our principles: accountability and trust are not constraints on our work; they are the foundations of our legitimacy with the British public. Recently, I had the privilege of meeting and thanking a foreign agent who has worked with us for decades, taking extraordinary risks to help keep the UK safe. I asked why. We need your trust and support for the difficult and often dangerous work our agents pursue, every day of the year. In an age of uncertainty, one constant remains: the choices made by human beings still determine the shape of the world. Yes, technology can illuminate possibilities: but information requires judgement; complexity demands clarity; and only people can decide which path to follow. The United Kingdomโ€™s global voice has never rested solely on strength โ€“ it has rested on trust, principle, and the ability to understand others as well as ourselves. That is also the essence of intelligence: not simply knowing the world, but interpreting it through a uniquely human lens. Ours is the quiet service, the hidden service. It is one rooted in a profound belief that when human beings act with purpose and integrity, they can steady a faltering world. When the Berlin Wall fell, it was our shared belief in freedom that carried Europe forward. When acts of terror targeted open societies, it was intelligence, cooperation and resolve that preserved them. And when adversaries blur fact and falsehood, our task is to defend the space where truth can still stand. As we step into the future, the tools at our disposal will evolve. But what will always matter most is the human element โ€“ the person who stands in the shadows and says: this is right, and that is wrong. That choice โ€“ the exercise of human agency โ€“ has shaped our world before, and it will shape it again. Because in the end, it is not what we can do that defines us, but what we choose to do.
