The most PRACTICAL and REALISTIC way for young people to bring change in South Africa is by REGISTERING TO VOTE. We must be very honest. Unemployment, Student Debt, NSFAS failures, lack of skills development, poverty, economic exclusion etc. are all products of political decisions. If, we, as the youth, do not register to vote, the bad leaders will remain in power and continue to destroy our lives and future. It’s that simple. We teach our students entrepreneurship from a young age. This is an annual flea market where students bring their used toys, books and anything they don’t want to school to sell to their fellow schoolmates and even teachers. Before the market starts, we teach them how to advertise, price, negotiate and give change. This way, they can learn the art of buying and selling, get rid of things they don’t want and have fun. These are practical skills and knowledge that we should also give our children in Nigeria. Not all of them, but some of them will find their calling in business and can start at a young age. Our teachers have an instrumental role to play in teaching them, encouraging them and gaining other skills other than just teaching students what is in text books. The online world now is providing more opportunities to do business, and kids should be in this action. It will sow seeds for our future business ecosystem and add more value to our economy.

The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its National TVET Programme, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical, industry‑relevant skills. Starting 13 April 2026, applicants can enrol for 6‑month or 1‑year hands‑on training across accredited centres nationwide, with a monthly N22,500 stipend and nationally recognised certification. The initiative, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Bola Ahmed Tinubu), expands training into high‑demand sectors including ICT, construction, creative media, agriculture, fashion, hospitality, and more. To help give social and emotional skills the greater priority they deserve, The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has conducted a first-of-its-kind global listening exercise, involving experts from 21 countries around the world, to catalogue and identify the skills in this area that matter most throughout our lives. The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood has undertaken work to find a common bridge and set of core skills that can apply equally to children and adults, so we can bring people together with a common language and vision to drive action at every level – protecting and strengthening these skills for current and future generations across the whole of society. Through this exercise we found consensus around a set of skills that we develop and nurture during early childhood, but that continue to be enhanced and refined as we grow into adults. They relate to knowing ourselves, managing our emotions, focusing our thoughts, communicating with others, nurturing our relationships, and exploring the world. These are the skills that lay the foundations for our positive future mental health and resilience throughout our lives.
