I visited the Palestinian Embassy in Islamabad today and met with Ambassador Ahmed Ameen to share our unwavering support and solidarity. The Israeli bombardment of Gaza persists indiscriminately with the collective punishment of innocent Palestinians in flagrant, indefensible violation of international human rights law. These are war crimes. While the situation is deteriorating with every passing moment, the UN Security Council regrettably remains mired in indecision, failing to unite on an urgent ceasefire or even on a temporary humanitarian pause. To save innocent lives, the International Community must come together for immediate cessation of hostilities, establishing of operational humanitarian corridor, and delivery of vital humanitarian aid. It must not waver in its recognition of the sole viable basis for peace and stability in the Middle East, an abiding commitment to the two-State solution and the freedom of Palestine.

While those who are the witnesses of Doha accord have left Tshisekedi to do whatever he pleases, the people of Minembwe continue to live under the terror of drone bombardments. Families are losing loved ones. Children are going to bed not knowing whether they will wake up alive. Mothers and fathers are forced to choose between fleeing their homes or risking death under the next strike. Entire communities are being traumatized while those responsible face no meaningful accountability. The most troubling question is not only why these attacks continue, but why the international community remains largely silent. When governments accused of targeting civilian populations continue to receive diplomatic support, political legitimacy, and military cooperation without consequences, what message does that send to the victims? Human rights cannot be selective. Civilian lives cannot matter only when it is politically convenient. The people of Minembwe deserve the same protection, the same compassion, and the same international attention afforded to victims elsewhere in the world. This grave situation requires global action to stop the escalating violence and ensure the protection of basic human rights. On October 11, 2024, the Pashtun National Jirga, a historic assembly rooted in Pashtun tradition for peaceful decision-making and conflict resolution, is scheduled to take place in Pakhtunkhwa. This gathering will unite Pashtuns from across the region to peacefully advocate for their rights and protest against state violence. However, in an alarming and oppressive move, the Pakistani state forces have confiscated the designated Jirga ground, turning it into a militarized zone. Armed security forces have built posts and established a strong presence in the area to prevent the peaceful assembly from taking place. These aggressive actions reflect the state's intent to violently disrupt the Jirga, intimidate participants, and silence the voices of the Pashtuns. In addition to this, the communication channels with Jirga organizers have been severed, isolating them from the outside world and making them even more vulnerable to state repression. The lives of those planning to attend are at immediate risk, and their fundamental right to peaceful assembly and free speech is being brutally denied. This confiscation of the Jirga ground and militarization of the space is not an isolated act but part of a broader, long-standing pattern of state-sponsored terrorism aimed at erasing Pashtun voices and suppressing their peaceful demands for justice. We urgently call upon the international community, the United Nations, and all human rights organizations to take immediate and decisive action: 1. Condemn the State’s Repressive Actions: Publicly denounce the Pakistani government’s confiscation of the Jirga ground and its use of armed forces to prevent a peaceful assembly. 2. Demand the Immediate End to Militarization: Call for the removal of military posts and security forces from the Jirga site, and ensure that the Pashtun National Jirga can take place without fear of violence. 3. Insist on Protection for Participants: Ensure that the safety and rights of all those attending the Jirga are protected, in accordance with international human rights standards. 4. Investigate Ongoing Abuses: Launch independent investigations into the human rights violations committed by the Pakistani state against the Pashtun people, including the confiscation of public spaces and violent repression of peaceful assemblies. 5. Hold the Pakistani Government Accountable: Urge Pakistan to comply with its international obligations to protect the rights of all citizens, including the Pashtun people, and to cease its discriminatory and violent actions. Statement from the David Family: We are forced to witness our beloved son and brother, Evyatar David, deliberately and cynically starved in Hamas’s tunnels in Gaza - a living skeleton, buried alive. Our son has only a few days left to live in his current condition. Hamas is using our son as a live experiment in a vile hunger campaign. The deliberate starvation of our son as part of a propaganda campaign is one of the most horrifying acts the world has seen. He is being starved purely to serve Hamas’s propaganda. Israel and the international community must oppose Hamas’s cruelty and ensure that our Evyatar immediately receives proper nutrition. The intentional starvation, torture, and abuse of Evyatar for propaganda purposes violate even the lowest standards of humanitarian law and basic human decency. The humanitarian aid that the world, together with Israel, provides to the residents of Gaza must also reach Evyatar. Israel and the international community must not remain silent or turn a blind eye to those who are deliberately starved as part of Hamas’s hunger campaign. There is no limit to this cruelty. We call upon the Government of Israel, the people of Israel, nations of the world, and the President of the United States to do everything possible to save Evyatar from death and ensure, by any means necessary, that he urgently receives food and medical care. This siege places the lives of approximately half a million civilians at direct risk amid harsh living conditions that are deteriorating day by day. The complete cutoff of water, electricity, and fuel, combined with the total lack of basic humanitarian aid—including food, medicine, infant formula, and heating supplies—has led to a sharp decline in the humanitarian situation. Furthermore, the Kurdish Red Crescent has reported fatalities among children due to extreme cold and the lack of medical care, serving as a dangerous indicator of an impending large-scale humanitarian catastrophe if immediate intervention is not undertaken. The continuation of this siege constitutes a clear violation of International Humanitarian Law, particularly the obligations related to the protection of civilians and ensuring unhindered access to aid, in accordance with the Geneva Conventions and customary rules binding on all parties. Accordingly, we issue this urgent appeal to: The United Nations, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and all relevant international bodies to: Take immediate action to lift the siege on the city of Kobani and its countryside. Open safe humanitarian corridors to ensure the protection of civilians and the evacuation of the most vulnerable cases. #Kobani #Kurds #Rojava #Syria Urgent Statement Addressed to the United Nations Regarding the Siege Imposed on the City of Kobani (Human Rights Organization in Syria Human Rights Organization in the Euphrates) Our organization follows with grave concern the serious humanitarian developments resulting from the siege imposed on the city of Kobani and its countryside for several days. This siege places the lives of approximately half a million civilians at direct risk amid harsh living conditions that are deteriorating day by day. The complete cutoff of water, electricity, and fuel, combined with the total lack of basic humanitarian aid—including food, medicine, infant formula, and heating supplies—has led to a sharp decline in the humanitarian situation. Furthermore, the Kurdish Red Crescent has reported fatalities among children due to extreme cold and the lack of medical care, serving as a dangerous indicator of an impending large-scale humanitarian catastrophe if immediate intervention is not undertaken. The continuation of this siege constitutes a clear violation of International Humanitarian Law, particularly the obligations related to the protection of civilians and ensuring unhindered access to aid, in accordance with the Geneva Conventions and customary rules binding on all parties. Accordingly, we issue this urgent appeal to: The United Nations, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and all relevant international bodies to: Take immediate action to lift the siege on the city of Kobani and its countryside. Open safe humanitarian corridors to ensure the protection of civilians and the evacuation of the most vulnerable cases. Deliver urgent humanitarian aid—including food, medicine, fuel, and heating materials—without any delay. Secure access for international relief teams to assess needs and provide an emergency response. Pressure all parties to ensure respect for International Humanitarian Law and prevent the imposition of any form of collective punishment on civilians. We emphasize that the protection of civilians is a legal and moral responsibility of the international community. Any delay in intervention will exacerbate the suffering of the population and result in avoidable loss of life.
