A clash occurred between fans after the match between the national #football teams of #Armenia and #Georgia in Tbilisi. After the game, tensions ran high in the stadium, with Georgian fans storming the field and throwing objects toward Armenians. This match was part of the UEFA #NationsLeague play-off phase. The first leg in #Yerevan ended with a decisive 3-0 victory for the visitors. In Georgia, Armenia’s national team suffered a 1-6 defeat. One might be surprised by the level of hospitality shown by some fans of our neighboring country. No clashes were recorded in Yerevan.

Some facts for those who are delighted that the Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Hapoel Tel Aviv match was called off yesterday evening. I spoke to friends who were there, who confirmed: 1. Unruly supporters of *Hapoel* Tel Aviv seem to have been dispersed by Israeli police using what Hapoel says were heavy-handed tactics that resulted in injuries. The fans wearing red that you have seen in videos were Hapoel fans. 2. *Hapoel* fans also threw flares/pyrotechnics onto the pitch before the match, which pretty much fogged up the whole stadium. The flares were in the colours of Hapoel (red and white). This video was taken by a friend of mine who was in the Hapoel stands. 3. As you can see at 1:10 in the video, the *Maccabi* Tel Aviv (blue and yellow) stands are not involved. None of the disturbances with police or throwing of flares seem to have involved Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters, much to the frustration of those claiming that it vindicates the Birmingham ban. 4. Even if they were, hooligans are present in the fan base of most clubs and British police are well used to policing football matches — far better it seems than Israeli police.

One of the best parts of the work In The (D3FB) Huddle & I do for #d3fb is getting to meet new teams -- especially the players -- who we talk about all the time on our show. During our Pregame Show Thursday, UW-La Crosse Football players recognized me eventually and obviously had read "Quick Hits" on D3football.com (knowing that I picked against UWL in the game). As you could expect, this didn't set well with the UWL players, so they razzed me all pregame, during-game, and postgame about the pick & the score. However, it was all in great fun, and JB & I know how to laugh it off with the players. Below, you'll see a part of our Pregame Show where the UWL players took the field -- and let me have it as they were behind us -- and a part of our Postgame Show where during our @UWLCoachJanus interview, Nate Wilcher gave me one last blast from off camera. We brought him on our set and had a great impromptu moment with him. Again, all in great fun. UWL has a great team -- my pick deserved to be panned by them early & often. But more importantly, the team was respectful & appreciative of the work we do to promote them. That made all of our work yesterday a pure pleasure. We look forward to making the trek to Wisconsin someday -- or perhaps see them in Texas in January -- to continue to build this friendship. Thanks to Coach Janus & everyone associated with the team for a great time in Troy, along with the good folks at RPI Athletics & RPI Football who made sure our live shows could be a reality Thursday night.

CHAOS ERUPTS during German Soccer Match! Riot Police TAKE THE FIELD!! Mannheim vs Kaiserslautern Look at this. Full stadium. German Cup. And before extra time even starts the place turns into a battlefield. Rockets flying into the stands. Fans storming the pitch. Smoke so thick you can’t see the goal. Then the cavalry rolls in: horses, dogs, hundreds of riot cops, just so two teams can keep playing. 35 officers hurt. Dozens more people needing medical help. Almost 1,400 cops on duty for one soccer game. And the media still calls this “passionate support.” This isn’t football culture. This is what happens when a society decides consequences are optional and “ultras” get treated like folklore instead of a public safety problem. Grown men in masks throwing fireworks at other people’s faces and charging the field because the score was 0-0. You want to know why a lot of regular folks are done with this soft, excuse-making culture? Because the same people who lecture American dads about “toxic masculinity” will look at mounted police clearing a soccer pitch and call it tradition. Kaiserslautern still found a way to win it late. Good for them. But the real scoreboard is the one that shows 35 injured cops and a stadium that needed a full security operation just to finish 120 minutes. That’s not sport. That’s a warning.

We have an excellent and highly experienced crew of presenters that are going to bring us through what are "principles of play" to coaching the principles of the game at the various ages and levels. The presenters will detail how they develop skills, individuals and principles of play with their teams in a practical applied setting. We have All Ireland winning players and coaches and a wide group of vastly experienced and highly qualified people. There is simply nothing like this for Football lovers and coaches in the South. We want to change this and have an annual flagship event. This match against Chelsea, is my favourite Ange Postecoglou memory at Tottenham Hotspur. This was not just in regards to football, but also in regards to life. Watching Ange never back down from the Tottenham motto “Audere Est Facere” was a key changing point in my life. I learnt that, even when things don’t go your way or are seemingly impossible, you should never shy away from your true beliefs, or who/what made you. As Ange mentioned in the UEL final speech. At the top of the league, with 9 men, against one of our biggest rivals, Ange didn’t shy us away in a shell, he dared, and he did. He showed to us supporters a team that genuinely bleed Lilywhite, we hadn’t seen do that for many, many years. That’s why, after a 4-1 loss, Spurs were sent off to a standing ovation from the home support. This is why Ange means more than just football to me and so many others, he represents faith, confidence, and success. Gaffer.

As we close 2023/24 it gives us an opportunity to reflect on a brilliant season of one of our own! Robbie Gallagher: Following a great season in 22/23 for Wallingford and Crowmarsh FC Robbie signed for Didcot Town. Despite relegation Robbie has shone at Step 3 with a number of outstanding displays for Didcot Town Football Club. Robbie went on to win, Managers Player, Players Player, Young Player and Supporters player in a clean sweep at the end of season awards night. For us he achieved similar highs and has been recognised for his individual displays. He has nearly completed his HNC (1st year of his degree). Also achieved a winners medal in the National Football Youth League league along with a runners up medal in the National Cup Final. Despite losing the game Robbie was awarded the man of the match. And finally he was presented with Players Player for the 23’s on Friday night. A shining light in a very talented squad of players. What a season for this diamond of a lad! We couldn’t be prouder and look forward to his continued success in the game and beyond. He will go into the 24/25 season as a newly appointed staff member! Keep smashing it Robbie 🏆

Zimbabwean football champions Scottland were forced to use Uber vehicles to reach Somhlolo Stadium after police officers assigned to escort their team bus failed to arrive on time. The Zimbabwean champions also woke up to a scene out of a Nigerian movie, with small grains (zviyo) thrown around their bus. Mabviravira, as Scottland are affectionately known, had been allocated a one-hour training session at the stadium between 3pm and 4pm ahead of tomorrow’s crucial second-leg encounter against Nsingizini Hotspurs. With their bus stranded and the clock already running, the players and technical team abandoned their original transport arrangements and used Uber vehicles to reach the venue. Although the improvised plan enabled them to reach the stadium, Scottland lost approximately 20 minutes of the 60-minute training session permitted under CAF regulations. The Zimbabwean champions go into tomorrow’s match, which kicks off at 3pm, holding a narrow 1-0 advantage from the first leg. It is deeply backward that some African football teams still resort to juju, believing that rituals and supernatural powers can help them defeat their opponents. It is unfortunate that, instead of relying on proper preparation, tactical discipline, talent and hard work, some teams waste time scattering strange substances around buses, dressing rooms and stadiums in the hope of influencing results. Football matches are won through professionalism and performance on the pitch, not superstition.
