RIP Bradley Cooper ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Today, we said our goodbyes to a truly sweet gentleman, an old soul with so much love to give. Bradley came to us diagnosed with cancer, along with his best friend Bobby, the St. Bernard. While Bobby was young and found his forever home, poor Bradley needed palliative care. Thanks to his angel, MLHR Laura, Bradley spent his final days surrounded by love. Sadly, his illness progressed quickly. This morning, weak and in pain, he was given pain relief by the vet and was able to spend his last moments at his favorite place, the beach. Sand on his paws, sun on his face, and surrounded by kindness ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” Bradley experienced joy and so much love โค๏ธ Bradley never received the care he deserved before coming to us. His previous owner neglected him, letting him and Bobby suffer, something that makes our hearts ache and our anger rise ๐Ÿ˜ก If only he had cared for Bradley as he should have, perhaps Bradley would still be with us today. But today was about Bradley. Today was about love. Today was about making his last day beautiful, full of comfort, happiness, and dignity. Mr. Bradley Cooper, you were never just a dog, you were a cuddle monster, a legend, and a beloved member of the MLHR family โค๏ธ We will love you forever. We are so sorry this world let you down, but we are so grateful for the time we had with you, and for the joy and love you brought into our lives. Rest in peace, sweet Bradley Cooper. You will never be forgotten. โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ Please if you can donate towards so many animals that need to feel the love our beautiful Bradley did ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’” โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

Last night we had a magical and important night at Views. PS: we are gearing up for our Friday (13th March) evening with G.C Cameron and Mighty Popo ( Coming back to yesterday: We brought our two legends together, to meet, talk and learn about our #culture , share the #creation #production processesโ€ฆ from thinking about a song, to writing it, and recording it. Our case studies now ๐Ÿ˜Ž #umunezero #iwacu #kana by our very own legend CEKA I RWANDA Then travelled few miles away (for the Jazz, Soul, and the Blues), to learn the creation process of hit songs like #mygirl by the famous #Motown band #thetemptations with G.C Cameron as the lead singer, and another song #itsashame by his first band #thespinners where he was also a lead singer G.C Cameronโ€™s first song was written by Stevie Wonder โ€ฆ. (Did you know?) By the way, G.C gave us a small history background on how the famous song by The Spinners โ€œitโ€™s a shameโ€ , written by #StevieWonder , was a one take record (very rare) when G.C and his band reached the studio. We also spoke and learned about the creation and production process of the world hit song G.C Cameron sang with the Temptation #Mygirl . It was written by the famous Smokey Robinson who worked closely with G.C back in his early days. Final sharing moment ๐Ÿ”ฅ Our very own Samuel Kamanzi sharing some amazing hints on his creation process, and learned from him about an amazing #Rwandan elder who did an amazing work on researching and writing about the roots of #Rwandan #music Why having these evenings? For the #culture , learning about it, teaching it, exporting it, and more importantly, connect it with other cultures. Nothing beats #music to do just that. For #creativity , understand the #creation process, how a global creation comes to be, role of each in the process, and more importantly finding patterns to guide the future generation of music #artists for even greater creations, and creating long lasting music. Thank you Gatete Nyiringabo Ruhumuliza ๐ŸŒž for hosting us, and creating a space where we can bring #artists together, learn, share, create, and innovate.

Leo Messiโ€™s post-match interview after Argentinaโ€™s World Cup final defeat to Spain, where he reportedly blamed the referee and his coachโ€™s tactics while also announcing his retirement from international football. Reporter ๐ŸŽค: โ€œWhat went wrong for you guys yesterday? Were Spain simply the better team?โ€ Leo Messi ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ: โ€œI wouldnโ€™t say Spain were better than us because our loss was down to the poor officiating by the referee, and also our tactics were not right. The referee gave too many fouls, and the red card given to Enzo wasnโ€™t even a red card. That incident completely disrupted our game. โ€œIt was also down to our coachโ€™s tactics. I mean, this is the World Cup finalโ€”why ask us to play defensively when we all know how good Spain are with the ball? We could have gone toe-to-toe with them just like we did against every other nation we faced in this tournament. Itโ€™s just so sad.โ€ Reporter ๐ŸŽค: โ€œSo, Leo, would this be your last game for Argentina, or do we still have a few more years to watch you?โ€ Leo Messi ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ: โ€œYes, it will be my last game. Iโ€™ve done my best for Argentina. Itโ€™s just so sad that I didnโ€™t get my happy ending because of the coachโ€™s tactics. I just wish the game could be replayed again.โ€

Today, my good friend Colt McCoy joins me for a deep and personal discussion about his path from small-town Texas to 14 seasons in the NFL, the mentors and moments that shaped him, and the intentional process of stepping away from the game. We talk through his early years growing up on the sidelines, the day he went from being a complete unknown to over 100 Division 1 offers, and the mindset he built while earning the starting job and leading Texas to the National Championship. Colt reflects on the physical and emotional toll of the 2009 title-game injury, the realities of NFL life, and the teammates, coaches, and owners who influenced him most. He also opens up about the year-long discernment process that led him to retire, move his family to Fort Worth, and build a new career in real estate. We discuss: โ€ข Coltโ€™s early upbringing around football and how it shaped his identity โ€ข Winning the starting job, leading Texas for four seasons, and the highs and lows along the way โ€ข The 2009 national championship injury and its lasting impact โ€ข Lessons from 14 years in the NFL, including leadership, longevity, and adapting his game โ€ข His decision to retire, prioritize family, and pursue a new path in Fort Worth real estate โ€ข The role of faith, patience, and discernment in navigating major life transitions 3:10 - The realities of working for ESPN and calling games 11:35 - Coltโ€™s earliest memories of football 18:51 - The impact of Coltโ€™s dad 23:05 - Earning a scholarship to The University of Texas 34:53 - Coltโ€™s career at UT 47:51 - Coltโ€™s greatest memory at UT 58:00 - The state of College football 59:00 - The Michael Crabtree story 1:04:47 - The toughest environments to play in 1:06:44 - Coltโ€™s NFL career 1:09:17 - The biggest learning curve going from the NCAA to the NFL 1:17:54 - Whoโ€™s the best athlete youโ€™ve ever seen? 1:19:23 - What Colt misses the most about being in the NFL 1:21:18 - Whoโ€™s the scariest player youโ€™ve gone up against? 1:23:47 - What was the hardest hit youโ€™ve ever taken? 1:26:31 - The decision to leave the NFL and life after football

Iโ€™m on my way home from my first (and probably only) home school convention of the year, the Southeast Homeschool Expo in Atlanta. And it reminded me of everything that is good and also everything that is frustrating about home school conventions. Let me just start by saying that the conference organizers were hospitable, competent, and doing their best under challenging conditions (more about that shortly). Nothing that I say here is any reflection on our hosts. Iโ€™m grateful that they invited us, and thankful that they did everything possible to make this a good experience. Before the pandemic, I had already begun to cut down on my conference travel. Conferences are just exhausting, even when everything goes well, and I wanted to put that energy towards writing instead. Then, of course, the conferences shut down for a while. We did several online events, which had a whole different energy but also allowed us to keep in touch with our customers. As a bonus, one of our guests was the wonderful Kate Snow, and that contact led us to publish her crazy popular Math With Confidence series. When the conferences started up again, they were much smaller and I honestly thought that, given how easy it is to find information, opinions, and books online, that theyโ€™d never get back to their former size. But they do seem to be growing again. The SE Expo is certainly bigger than it was a few years ago (Iโ€™d be interested to hear how your local convention is faring). So, with some reluctance, because of that whole energy thing, I started attending a few conventions again. Hereโ€™s the good: Nothing replaces face to face contact and the ability to put your hands on books before you buy them. The workshops this weekend were a much-appreciated chance to actually talk to the parents who are using our booksโ€”and, I hope, a chance for them to hear some wisdom from someone whoโ€™s further along the road than they are. Our booth gave us the opportunity to show our resources to folks who havenโ€™t seen them before. An online presence is important, but itโ€™s just not quite the same. Hereโ€™s the frustrating: Conferences are stupidly expensive for exhibitors. Hotel rates are high and hotels charge extra fees for EVERYTHINGโ€”receiving books, tables, power, even chairs to put at your booth. And those costs have gone up, and up, and up. By the time we ship or drive books, put up staff, and pay fees, we lose money at every single conference we attend. We pin our hopes on the ripple effect of customers discovering our work for the first time and sharing it with others. And conference hotels are, almost without exception, inconvenient and noisy. The Waverly Renaissance in Atlanta was no exception. Food was mediocre and cost twice as much as it should. Construction complications meant that our workshops were all located in little curtained booths off the main hall, so that it was almost impossible to make myself heard over the din from the exhibit area. AND the conference had scheduled an massive four-day youth wrestling tournament in the adjacent space, so I also had to contend with shouts, referee whistles, and a huge crowd of junior wrestlers clogging up the halls right outside the Expo. It was a tremendous amount of work and expense. Does it pay off in terms of making contact with parents? To be honest, Iโ€™m still on the fence. But as always, Iโ€™m interested in hearing your thoughts.

Proud of our Army ๐Ÿ’ช *A Heartwarming Story From Indian Army* One Grizzly Bear (Himalayan Brown Bear) family used to visit us at xxxx post in Siachen. Initially, only during nights. We started keeping food for the family. Their confidence in us developed over a period, and they even started coming during day. There was also a bear cub about an year old. It used to come with his mother, but after about 6 months, it was either deserted by the mother or got lost. Then it started roaming alone, but it had problems, since the dogs in the post wouldn't let it come close. When we saw this, we started tying the dogs. The confidence grew and it started to come close. We named him Bahadur after the Company's name- Bahadur Company. For a few days, we couldn't see Bahadur. One day, one of my posts, which used get cut off due to 60 feet of snow, reported that Bahadur is roaming around with his head stuck in a tin box. This post was about 800 metres from my Company Headquarter. I took 6 boys with me and went to rescue the bear myself. It's not that I wasn't concerned about boys safety; but I still decided to do the rescue. When we reached the place, the bear was roaming with the tin box around its head, over a cornice probably without food for last 3 days. It was making circles on the cornice. _(Cornice - An overhanging mass of hardened snow at the edge of a mountain precipice.)_ Basically, cornice is a false extension of ground made by hard snow over a period of time, and it can't take too much weight. It can break off and can lead to an Avalanche. So, it was very difficult to go closer to the bear to rescue it. I found the lightest boy from my group and briefed him to go close to the bear and tie the rope around his neck. We also tied a rope to the waist also to pull him in case the cornice breaks down. This boy was nervous to get close to the bear. After about over 3 mins, I decided to rescue the bear on my own. The bear was approached by me on my knees and I pulled him out of the cornice as quickly as possible to avoid breaking off the cornice. After bringing the bear to safety, we tied it with ropes to take it to our xxxx post, where we could release him after removing the tin box. It took almost a kind of surgery to cut the tin box without damaging the ears and neck of the bear. We gave him food and released him after taking all safety precautions. When we released him, he didn't go away for a good 3 hours. But after that it became part of my Company. Whenever we shouted his name -Bahadur, it always appeared from nowhere. It still comes to the post for food. Although the Story is very Heartwarming, please do also take a moment to appreciate the very difficult conditions and the environment the Indian Army is guarding our Borders. Furthermore, do also see and acknowledge the accommodation they are staying with bare minimum amenities. It takes a special kind of men to do this. A big Salute to the Soldiers of the Indian Army. In 2003 I stopped on the side of the highway. I got out of my car. I looked up. I canโ€™t really describe the feeling, but dumbstruck awe is as close as possible. I was on my way home very late from a school event and suddenly I was surrounded by green, red, and purple fire. The night sky was enveloped in them. Honestly I thought I was having a medical emergency. It was the Northern Lights, but unlike anything Iโ€™ve ever seen. I stood for 20 minutes looking up as twisting and chaotic lights spun around me, in the middle of nowhere, without any light pollution. I also HEARD them. It was a crackling and twinkling sound, like wind chimes made of breaking tinfoil. Nobody else I knew saw them that night. I also wasn't believed that they made sound - which has been proven to be true. That was the last MASSIVE geomagnetic storm the Earth experience and it was like what we saw last night. We got warning thanks to social media that one was coming and the weather cooperated. Little cloud, and a warm wind. We sat beneath the sky initially in blankets but then 1:00 AM rolled around. Gorgeous dancing beams of light blasted overhead, with the same greens, reds, pinks, and purples I saw so many years ago. It got so bright, it was as if Mother Nature had turned on a nightlight across the night sky, to ward off bad dreams and spooky shadows. I had tears in my eyes. I felt so small, yet I was experiencing something so large. I had VERY big feelings - just like Beaker gets (our golden) when she has so much joy. This time I got to experience it with my family AND see the joy and excitement across social media as so many people who had never witnessed them before, got a glimpse. We were all so very fortunate last night. BUT: What causes this? This cosmic spectacle is caused by a massive sunspot, a behemoth as wide as 17 Earths, hurling solar flares towards our planet. Imagine the sun as a giant celestial disco ball, occasionally sending out bursts of energy in the form of solar flares. When these flares reach Earth, they interact with our magnetic field, creating geomagnetic storms. Normally our magnetic field yeets these storms to the poles, eliminating all but the most extreme latitudes from viewing them. In Canada we consider it pay back for our long and brutal winters. This energy excites the gasses high in our atmosphere and depending on the gas, different colors are produced. Oxygen produces greens and reds. Nitrogen produces blue and purple. And if we are very very lucky, Helium and Hydrogen produces the white and pinks we saw last night. The recent storm escalated to Level 5 "extreme" conditions, creating a celestial dance of colors in the night sky. Even SpaceX's Starlink service experienced "degraded service," a reminder that while we marvel at the beauty of the Northern Lights, they also remind us of our reliance on technology vulnerable to these cosmic events. Our internet is powered by Starlink and we have NO SERVICE during the peak - and it has been knocked out at times yesterday and today. However, this isn't just a spectacle; it's a reminder of the power and unpredictability of our sun. This Level 5 geomagnetic storm is the first of its kind since 2003, where a much younger me stood dumbfounded at the side of a rural highway, looking up. There is talk that this Saturday night we might get a repeat performance. You can bet our family will have front row seats. You canโ€™t miss this kind of cosmic show. It is just the universe telling us that while we are small , we are part of something so much bigger. We are in the universe, but the universe is also within us.

We were in the UFC seats where the brawl happened last night. Dillon Danis and a small crew (6 people total) were sitting directly in front of me. They were friendly and well-behaved, he was taking photos with fans etc. Then, during the prelims their entire crew stood up and walked over to the entrance to the next section which were the 4 rows directly in between us and the Octagon where current and former UFC fighters were sitting: GSP, Alex Pereira, Kamaru Usman, Masvidal, Johnny Walker etc and, importantly, a bunch of the Khabib/Islam Dagestani crew. Danis was clearly trying to get his group into that section and the staff weren't letting him in. Eventually they all came back and sat back down in front of us, except Danis. He was still by the entrance to the fighter section, trying to get in. At one point one of his guys who was sitting in front of us could smell trouble and tried to get Danis to come back and sit down. Danis ignored him. Shortly after, Danis got into a spat with the Dagestani guys and the next thing we knew there was a giant brawl happening that he was in the middle of. I saw someone pick up a chair and smash someone over the head with it. It was pretty wild. The video is from just before the fight broke out - you can see the empty seats in front of us which is when the Danis crew first got up and left to try to get into the fighter-only section. P.S. Best live sporting experience I've ever had.
