In Juhapura, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the death of a 70-year-old man identified as Zaheer Shaikh after being taken into police custody has triggered serious allegations and protests. According to reports and claims made by family members and activists, Zaheer Shaikh had been arrested in connection with a case involving alleged possession of beef. Videos related to the police action against some accused in the case had circulated widely on social media earlier. Family members and local groups have alleged that Zaheer was subjected to custodial violence, including physical assault, and claimed he named certain police personnel before his death while undergoing treatment at SVP Hospital in Ahmedabad. Members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), including Gujarat leaders and local cadres, visited the family and demanded action against the police personnel allegedly involved. The party described the incident as a custodial death and called for justice for the victim’s family.

A video allegedly showing police brutality from Auraiya is rapidly going viral on social media. In the footage, a sub-inspector is seen in a fit of anger, slapping and kicking a young man. After the video surfaced, it caused a major stir within the police department. Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, the Superintendent of Police initiated action against the accused officer and placed him on line duty. The entire incident is reported to be from the Ajitmal police station area.

Swedish police chase of a suspect driving a tuned up motorbike. The suspect was caught and fined but the real story is about the police officer who was charged and found guilty of Police misconduct as he endangered the suspects and others life. He was first freed in the District Court but found guilty in the Appeals Court and Supreme Court found him guilty as the law says a police officer can only chase a suspect on a motorbike if that person is suspect of a serious crime, which driving a tuned up motorbike is not. The police officer was supported by the Police Union, his colleagues and members of the public who later crowdfunded his fines and legal bills.
