Along with the service of remembrance and thanksgiving here at Westminster Abbey, today's events include a concert at Horse Guards Parade that will feature music, tributes, and storytelling, including a nostalgic revival of Dad’s Army, featuring actors Nigel Havers and Larry Lamb. COUP 53 is a must-watch investigative documentary. It’s made by independent British-Iranian filmmaker Taghi Amirani. For a brief period of time Iran was moving towards democracy. It’s Prime Minister was Mohammad Mossadegh who served for a total of a little over two years, across two consecutive terms, from April 1951 until the coup of August 1953 (with a brief interruption of five days in July 1952). The problem between India and China goes back to 1914, to a line drawn on a map arbitrarily in a conference in Shimla by a Mr. McMahon, who had never been to the places where he drew the line, with the British Empire putting its desired border of the British Raj someplace on the map in the middle of the Himalayas. And this has created the border disputes with China. It’s a long, fascinating story. The point that I try to make to both leaders in both countries who are, in my view, you know, leaders of two great civilisations, is that a line drawn on the map in 1914 should not hinder cooperation between the two great giants of the world today who have a mutual interest in a multipolar world operating under international law. So I very much want China and India to cooperate with each other. I want them to see the border dispute for what it is. It’s real. It’s caused by the British. It’s caused by events of the British Empire in 1914 in particular. And it should not dominate the current policy, political and economic interests of two great countries that should actually get along with each other. The United States has been hit with a tsunami of meth, and sharing expertise, intelligence, and capabilities across borders is critical to turning this crisis around. These missions are incredibly dangerous, especially when confronting violent cartel networks on their own turf. Tragically, this operation resulted in the loss of two Americans and two Mexican officers. We honor their service, sacrifice, and courage. Rest in peace. The bill would make the offense punishable with fines and up to 5 years in prison.
