Is it true that when Saudi Crown Prince MBS lent his personal plane to Imran Khan for his trip to the U.S., Imran Khan and his team made critical remarks about MBS that were overheard by the Saudis, prompting MBS to take back his plane? If so, this perfectly encapsulates Imran Khan’s diplomatic record. From his provocative, offensive, and hollow speech against India’s Modi on occupied Kashmir at the UNGA, where he sounded more like a jihadi leader addressing a jirga in Waziristan than a statesman addressing the global leaders, to his suicidal attempt to form a "new Islamic bloc" with Turkey, Malaysia, and Iran, as well as his ill-advised comments about the Taliban after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Imran Khan consistently failed to justify his position or leverage opportunities effectively. While I have no doubt that Imran Khan is the best option for the people of Pakistan, he lacked the diplomatic finesse needed to carve out a role for himself on the global stage. It's such a shame that a cricketing legend and a former prime minister of a country has no friends to support him today. If not for the efforts of overseas Pakistanis, you wouldn't be seeing the little attention he gets from American and some British politicians. I wish, as a prime minister, Imran Khan was advised by educated and intelligent people who helped him establish himself as a world leader, not surrounded by emotional idiots who sent him to interviews unprepared, turned every interaction with the international press a PR disaster, sent him to Russia on the day Putin brutally invaded Ukraine, and asked him to walk barefoot in Madina like an ignorant, overly emotional person. Worse, they facilitated the mismanagement of priceless, personalized gifts he received from foreign leaders at Toshakhana, selling them and tarnishing his reputation and relationships. I hope that if and when Imran Khan gets another chance, he has a better team and conducts himself as a more effective leader, not just for his people, but on the global stage.

STATE DEPARTMENT POLICY: After a long wait the State Department, in its first Press briefing, was asked by a Pakistani journalist about Pakistan and Imran Khan. The question was in two parts: First: the thank you on the dispatch of the ISIS terrorist, Second: The situation of Imran Khan and the atrocities committed by the army. The Spokesperson answered the first part repeating what the President had stated in his address. Obvious. She just ignored the second part. What does it mean? The journalist provided her the opportunity to say something and not touch the other part. By not saying anything about Imran Khan, the spokesperson, by implication, said the policy about Khan is not yet ready for an announcement. Positive or negative. But if the question had been a simple straight single question, she would have been in trouble not to answer it. But as the return of the terrorist has just happened, the State Department does not want to dilute the impact of Pak-US collaboration that may have earned Trump some points. Yet the policy on Imran Khan has not been stated, IT WILL COME OUT AND IN FAVOUR OF DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS AND CIVIL LIBERTIES, when the dust of this terrorist exchange settles. The Government and Army touts should not start jumping as the issue is still open.

The Srinagar Highway in Islamabad became the scene of fierce clashes today as police fired tear gas to disperse supporters of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. The clashes came as Khan made his way to the High Court where he was meant to attend a hearing on charges brought against him for selling state gifts. The court subsequently postponed the hearing as PTI protesters breached the premises of the court grounds and started pelting stones. Police had earlier raided Khan's residence in Lahore after he left his home to head for the hearing.

I am sharing this clip in which the then PM of Pakistan Imran Khan talks about his vision & his dream for Namal University. A private philanthropic project for the less fortunate kids of his country (No Government money of Pakistan has been spent on this project, it is totally funded by private citizens). I hope that in 2025 the project continues as planned and his dream does come true. I was fortunate to design the campus for this noble cause & God willing I will be there for the ribbon cutting at the opening with Imran Khan soon.

The Pakistani military junta is threatening to shift Imran Khan from the central jail in Rawalpindi to a remote jail to stop his sisters from trying to meet him, after the military imposed a total ban on his meetings. Neither Imran Khan’s family nor his lawyers are allowed to meet him. The high-school-educated Pakistani generals are bluffing and rattled. The military cannot shift Imran Khan to any jail in Balochistan, as its mouthpieces are suggesting. Balochistan is totally unsafe, where BLA terrorists dominate, and the military cannot risk shifting Imran Khan there. If Imran Khan is harmed, the military knows the people will rise up and the situation will go out of control. The military cannot shift Imran Khan to PTI-ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa either. If the military shifts Imran Khan to Punjab or Sindh, it will work in Imran Khan’s favor. His sisters and supporters will gather outside the jail, and unlike Rawalpindi, those locations will provide access to more local supporters. The level of control and mechanisms that the military has in Rawalpindi will not be the same elsewhere. The duffers are rattled, bluffing, and only sinking themselves deeper and deeper into the quagmire. The sisters, led by Aleema Khanum, and Khan’s supporters should continue to protest and put the military under pressure.

Balochistan is totally unsafe, where BLA terrorists dominate, and the military cannot risk shifting Imran Khan there. If Imran Khan is harmed, the military knows the people will rise up and the situation will go out of control. The military cannot shift Imran Khan to PTI-ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa either. If the military shifts Imran Khan to Punjab or Sindh, it will work in Imran Khan’s favor. His sisters and supporters will gather outside the jail, and unlike Rawalpindi, those locations will provide access to more local supporters. The level of control and mechanisms that the military has in Rawalpindi will not be the same elsewhere. The duffers are rattled, bluffing, and only sinking themselves deeper and deeper into the quagmire. The sisters, led by Aleema Khanum, and Khan’s supporters should continue to protest and put the military under pressure.

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan is being kept in unspeakable conditions in jail. A jail in which the most popular leader of Pakistan does not belong. In solitary confinement, his jail cell is so small as to ensure the bed is placed next to toilet bowl, with no basic hygiene standard nor showering facilities. The man who stood on principle for the entire Muslim Ummah, is being denied a translation of the copy of the Holy Quran in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He has no access to a doctor.
