I've been a student of electoral statistics since I was 15... In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got 11% of the vote in Kerala. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the NDA got 16% of the vote in Kerala. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, we have reached 20%. There's a history in democratic politics across the country that any party that crosses the 20% threshold doesn't take 5 years to reach 40%; it jumps from 20 to 40. In these local body elections, we experimented by contesting every seat under the BJP and NDA symbols, and look at the results: for the first time, a BJP mayor is sitting in Thiruvananthapuram," says Union Home Minister Amit Shah while inaugurating the 'New India, New Kerala' conclave organised by Kerala Kaumudi.

After we successfully called on the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Education to reconsider the increase in WAEC and NECO examination fees, another concerning issue has emerged. The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has introduced a sudden increase in the registration fee for foreign-trained medical graduates. Foreign-trained doctors in Nigeria are now facing an unexpected financial burden just weeks before their induction. On Friday, the MDCN informed successful foreign-trained medical graduates via email that the registration fee would be ₦250,000, plus ₦15,000 for insurance, bringing the total to ₦265,000. However, on the 13th, another email was sent asking recipients to disregard the previous one. The registration fee had been increased to ₦400,000, with ₦15,000 for insurance, making the new total ₦415,000—a ₦150,000 increase announced less than two weeks before induction. This is the reality currently facing foreign-trained medical graduates in Nigeria. Where does the MDCN expect these 238 newly qualified doctors to find ₦415,000 within such a short period just to obtain their practising licences? I am calling on the Federal Ministry of Health, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), and the Federal Government of Nigeria to urgently reconsider this decision. This policy will not strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare system. Nigeria is already experiencing a severe shortage of medical doctors, with fewer than 55,000 doctors serving a population of over 220 million people. The government should consider subsidising this registration fee instead of placing an additional financial burden on young doctors who are ready to serve the nation. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Hon'ble Chief Minister Sh. Suvendu Adhikari ji for taking up the establishment of a Medical College in Kalimpong district on a priority basis. Since 2019, I have been pushing for the establishment of a medical college in our hills, However, the discriminatory Trinamool Congress government under Mamata Banerjee repeatedly blocked this vital project, denying our people the basic right to quality healthcare and development. Today, under the dynamic and pro-people BJP government led by CM Suvendu Adhikari ji, justice is finally being done for our region and people. The West Bengal government has announced that it will forward the proposal for a Medical College in Kalimpong, along with new medical colleges in Alipurduar, South Dinajpur, and West Burdwan hu. This is a proud moment for the entire region. Immediately after the BJP government was formed, I had written to the Hon'ble Chief Minister requesting for the establishment of the medical college here, and I am deeply thankful that our request has been accepted with such speed and seriousness. I also express my profound thanks to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Central Government for their unwavering commitment to the development of our Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars.
