Thornton was seen inside a Tesla at a charging station at a Wawa on East Hillsborough... Avenue. Deputies searched the vehicle, where they located a handgun with multiple rounds of ammunition, marijuana, oxycodone, and multiple credit/debit cards belonging to other individuals. Thornton, a three-time convicted felon is facing numerous charges including, Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification of Another (5 or More), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Armed Possession of Controlled Substance, and multiple felony warrants. More than $1,200 in cash was also seized.show more

3 Arrested – Stolen Vehicle DCSO Deputies were patrolling Highlands Ranch when they reviewed an alert from an Automatic License Plate Reader for a stolen vehicle. Deputies began searching the area for the car and located it parked in a strip mall’s lot. Deputies formulated a plan and blocked the vehicle in the parking spot. Deputies took the driver and rear passenger into custody without incident, then located the 3rd passenger walking the strip mall's parking lot and took her into custody without incident. On May 27, 2026, the Sacramento Area Intelligence/Narcotics Team (SAINT), in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, concluded a major investigation targeting a Drug Trafficking Organization operating within Sacramento County. Deputies quickly responded and located the vehicle, which was parked at an apartment complex. As one deputy waited for backup, the suspect unexpectedly drove off. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled, initiating a pursuit. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating some of the vehicle's tires, but the suspect continued to flee. A Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) was used and was initially successful, but as deputies attempted to pin the vehicle, the suspect rammed a patrol car and kept going. On November 28th, SPD Bike officers patrolling downtown observed a suspect openly smoking marijuana. After speaking with the suspect and during a search of his belongings, officers located a loaded firearm. Officers searched a second individual associated with the suspect and located another loaded firearm and marijuana. A third associated suspect was also later arrested after officers were able to trace the trio back to a nearby vehicle where additional quantities of marijuana and drug paraphernalia indicative of sales activity was located. All three suspects, 19-year-old Amaru Rages of Sacramento, 21-year-old Capazjin Stroman of Sacramento, and 26-year-old Tylor Hampton were arrested for multiple drug and firearm charges. California law requires juveniles convicted of even the most serious crimes, including murder, to serve their sentences in county juvenile halls, with release required on or before their 26th birthday. Many juveniles convicted of murder serve only 2-3 years before being released. Gary Grover was convicted as a juvenile of murder and attempted murder. Since his release, our Gang Suppression Unit has arrested him 3 times for illegal firearm possession. He led Deputies in a vehicle pursuit, crashed into innocent motorists, failed to appear in court 4 times, accumulated multiple felony no bail warrants, and once again required a foot pursuit before being taken back into custody. “Reforms” to California’s juvenile justice laws have gone too far. Enough is enough.

A WINDOW TINT STOP LED TO A FELONY GUN ARREST. Here's how a routine traffic stop escalated in minutes. A Florida deputy initially stopped a rental car for an alleged illegal window tint violation. While speaking with the occupant, a certified narcotics K9 was brought to the scene and alerted on the vehicle, giving deputies probable cause to conduct a warrantless search under the automobile exception to the Fourth Amendment. During the search, deputies reported finding white powder residue and a firearm hidden inside a duffel bag in the backseat. Investigators determined the firearm belonged to a convicted felon, making possession of the weapon illegal under both Florida and federal law. What began as a routine equipment stop quickly became a felony criminal investigation. A few important legal points: - Illegal window tint is enough to justify a traffic stop, but it does not, by itself, authorize a vehicle search. - A trained K9's alert can establish probable cause to search a vehicle without a warrant. - Simply being inside a vehicle where a firearm is found does not automatically make every occupant guilty. Prosecutors generally must prove the accused knowingly possessed or controlled the firearm.
