Meet Mahalingappa Itnal, a farmer from Karnataka who just changed the game.🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽 For centuries, jaggery (gur) has been made almost exclusively from sugarcane, a crop that takes nearly a full year to grow and demands huge amounts of water. But Mahalingappa stood in his corn fields and asked a question so simple it had been overlooked for generations: “Why are we throwing away the stalks?” Corn stalks are usually treated as waste and burned, discarded, or left to rot after the harvest. 🚩Breaking News : Finance heavy hitter Craig Stobo has been announced by NZ First as a candidate in Botany, the seat currently held by Christopher Luxon. Stobo will be on the list. He brings a serious record in finance, especially superannuation and financial regulation: He built BT Funds Management, led the tax review that produced the PIE regime that KiwiSaver is built on, and later chaired the Financial Markets Authority. He was removed from that role at the FMA after an official review found his public commentary, including on the Treaty Principles, breached the political neutrality expected of an independent regulator. In plainer terms, he was taken out of the FMA for refusing to bow down to Māorification Mumbo Jumbo. * He created NZ’s municipal bond market. Stobo chaired the LGFA establishment board and has been inaugural chair since 2011. It is now the largest NZ-dollar bond issuer after the Crown, with about $25 billion of AAA bonds and almost every council as a voluntary borrower. That is a rare piece of financial-market plumbing: cheaper long-term money for local infrastructure without a Crown guarantee. Taking over after the global giant was wounded badly during the GFC and building a legitimate local arm that is profitable and still trading. At NZ Windfarms he oversaw the first consented windfarm repower in New Zealand (about 21 months, versus the seven-years plus, common in the sector). Craig holds First-class honours in economics at Otago, Milner Prize at Waitaki Boys, Wharton AMP. Diplomat for both NZ and Australia (seconded to DFAT in Canberra, including Middle East work, involved in Hawke–Keating deregulation in the 80’s ). Economist at DFC/Zealcorp, then Bankers Trust NZ on the rates desk — heading the same dealing room where a young John Key made his name in FX. China has made another serve-the-people achievement by converting barren deserts into seafood fisheries, achieving the goal of providing "zero emission, zero pollution, and zero antibiotic" seafood for people in the inland Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, creating well-paying jobs for locals, putting unused land to good use, and lowering seafood prices for ordinary Chinese people. The video shows seafood harvesting in Xinjiang's desert seafood fisheries, with villagers now able to eat fresh seafood without paying a high price. The effort tackles three critical global issues at once: poverty reduction, environmental conservation, and seafood safety and production. After delving further into China's "desert seafood fishery project," I uncovered a wealth of fascinating data provided by the China Association for Science and Technology: 🔵 The project began in 2022 on the Hongqi Farm in Southern Xinjiang. The farm is located on the edge of a desert, making it challenging to cultivate crops in the saline-alkali land. Rainwater often pools on the surface and cannot penetrate the soil, making it hard to develop agriculture even during wet season. 🔵 Though the local land is too salty for farming, it has been utilised to replicate the marine habitat. Chinese scientists have added trace elements and probiotics to the local surface water to create artificial seawater perfect for farming sea fish. 🔵 The project aims to use saline-alkali land and mudflats that cannot grow crops in approximately 5,000 mu(3 square kilometers). Chinese scientists have used cutting-edge technologies to establish a miniature ocean system in the desert and successfully breeding eight kinds of seafood, including tilapia, lobster, white leg shrimp and abalone. 🔵 The farm boasts four ecologically intelligent breeding bases as of August 2023, each with 15 fish pounds. The farm’s ultimate goal is to crate a fully integrated, cutting-edge seafood production line that combines indoor and outdoor seafood breeding, processing of aquatic goods and sales. 🔵 According to Ylam Weimar, a farmer in the city of Atux, the fishery gives him an extra yearly salary of 36,000 yuan (about 5,000 U.S. dollars) to complement his corn and wheat harvest in 2024, which brings in 30,000-40,000 yuan a year. 🔵 Official data shows that Xinjiang's aquatic output in 2024 reached 196,500 tonnes, a 6.8 percent increase year on year. 🔴JK🌟Was LIVE | 6.28.26 | 4 hours As one of the lucky ones who was able to watch JK’s four-hour live last night, I wanted to share what I took away from it. Fair warning: this is a long one… but he did give us four hours of content. 😅 Read if you’d like! First, and most importantly, Jungkook wants us to see him for who he is: a responsible adult who is capable of making his own decisions. He wants people to stop questioning every choice he makes, every word he says, and every aspect of how he lives his life. He is happy. He told us himself, “I’m so good.” He takes his health and well-being seriously, and he knows what works for him. He works hard, and like many adults, enjoys winding down sometimes with good food, alcohol, or both. He’s naturally nocturnal and thrives on the schedule that suits him. He doesn’t need unsolicited advice about how he should sleep or live. After the show, he went out to eat with the members, before returning to his hotel to film the dance challenge, which took over 50 takes. It was another reminder of how much pride he takes in his work. He always wants to show us, and himself, the very best he can do. Right now, he’s immersed in dance. He’s studying locking, krumping, and other house styles because he genuinely wants to become an even better dancer. He wants keep sharing dance challenges with us, because that’s one of the ways he can give us something new right now. He said he doesn’t actually listen to music that often, unless it is connected to a dance video, but when he does, he’s been enjoying a lot of music from his fellow idols, especially girl groups. He even shared a few songs he’s been playing on repeat lately. He’s also been enjoying anime, talking about several series he’s been watching and how excited he is for the next season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. He spoke honestly about learning English. He has a teacher, and he wants to improve, but it’s difficult and he simply doesn’t have enough time to devote to it. At the same time, he made it clear, again, that he doesn’t want people constantly asking or telling him to speak English. As he has said so many times: “I don’t speak English. I’m Korean.” If you choose to watch his lives, stop asking for it! One of the most candid moments was hearing him talk about big brand events. He admitted that they make him uncomfortable, saying Taehyung loves them and is much better at them. Small talk doesn’t come naturally to him, and he gets shy with all the eye contact. But, like the professional he is, he has learned how to do it well, because it’s part of his job, and because he genuinely appreciates the brands he works with, speaking warmly once again about his Calvin Klein collaboration. And then there’s what has always been part of Jungkook’s core: singing. He simply loves to sing. He loves exploring his voice, learning new techniques, experimenting with different genres, and constantly improving. He watches YouTube vocal tutorials to keep growing. Karaoke isn’t just fun for him, it’s practice, exploration, and another way to become a better artist. Listening to him sing throughout the live was a gift. Beautiful, playful, effortless, and unmistakably Jungkook. His performance of “Into the Sun” was my personal highlight, with perfectly placed vocal runs, delicate high notes, and emotion woven into every line. This is only a small part of what Jungkook shared with us over those four hours. I’m incredibly grateful that he gave us so much of his time, his thoughts, his laughter, and his music. Although he postures as a neutral political observer who only wants to fix Zimbabwe's problems, Ncube - who behaves as if he has a God-ordained mission to do that - is actually a partisan political player operating in the dark shadows and an opportunist who hops from one party to another. He has been all over the place politically - from Zapu to MDC, then Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn, Alliance for People's Agenda (APA) and most recently Zanu PF by association. He is also a longtime Mnangagwa ally. Ncube's politics is not based on discernible ideological and policy ideation, values and principles, but opportunism and self-interest. He is also not principled. For instance, Ncube just went AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave) in 2017 when he was APA chair only to emerge as Mnangagwa’s adviser after the November 2017 coup without even officially resigning from his party. So he was not the leader of the MDC-T at that time and didn't even know one day he will lead the party. In that meeting, Chamisa told Ncube upfront that while he appreciated the invitation to join APA he was not able to do so because he wanted to help Tsvangirai rejuvenate the MDC-T post the 2013 elections and prepare for the 2018 elections. So Chamisa politely declined Ncube's offer to join APA. The idea was to use Chamisa's growing social base to back Moyo as APA leader in his presidential election bid in 2018. "The meeting, which ran for close to two hours from around 9am to just before 11am (that photo was taken at that time), ended on a somewhat sour note with fake smiles because Chamisa had rejected the APA invitation, saying he is a loyal MDC-T member and one of the leaders. Is he superhuman? He works with others, but it is also true that other people are not happy. That's what happens in politics. He is also fully aware of critical issues that he needs to address urgently, that is the limitations and weaknesses from a political, structural, organisational and strategic point of view. Chamisa welcomes ideas and criticism from well-meaning people, not some malicious malcontents and bullies. He is a bona fide opposition leader who genuinely wants a solution to the country's problems and he is open to working with other people who seriously want to resolve national issues, not noise-makers and impostors. B.C. MLAs speak out about Canada's kill mission for healthy ostriches Elected officials visit Edgewood, B.C. ostrich farm to help apply public pressure against the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's senseless plan to cull a flock of healthy research birds. The political pushback against the federal government's plan to cull 400 healthy ostriches at a farm in Edgewood, British Columbia is growing and it’s coming from both sides of the political aisle. During a press release, B.C.'s socialist NDP premier, David Eby, recently stated the following about the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) mission to slay the exotic animals: “The minister of agriculture and I think British Columbians are a little bit frustrated by the actions of this federal agency. We understand the importance of containing the bird flu and the important role that agency plays. What’s hard to watch is a lack of discretion and ability to evaluate case by case scenarios.” The CFIA claims the birds must be destroyed due to concerns over an avian flu result from two deceased carcasses tested with the controversial PCR test late last year. The farmers consistently argue that their flock is healthy and worth more to humanity alive than dead, since their antibody-rich eggs were being used in partnership with Japan for research they believe is close to finding a non-mRNA treatment to stabilize the threat of the avian flu. Despite no signs of illness for the flock of 400, who survived the sickness that passed though the herd months ago, the CFIA remains unwilling to test the flock for immunity — and despite clear public and scientific concern over the decision. Local MLA and cattle farmer Jordan Kealy became the first elected official to visit the farm and recently raised the issue in the legislature. “It’s not about money. It’s a way of life for them. They would way rather have their animals be alive than to be culled,” he told Rebel News on the farm site. In response to the growing political concern we are seeing about the senseless cull, Kealy said “we’re seeing that it makes a difference. If there is that added pressure from the public and from constituents, we can start to see the different avenues open up. And I think the biggest thing when it comes to the cull practice that’s being practiced by the CFIA — there are better methods out there.” “This isn’t a scenario where if these birds get culled it’s not just a matter of restocking and starting over again you’re destroying the farmers’ lives” lives he added. The political pushback against the federal government's plan to cull 400 healthy ostriches at a farm in Edgewood, British Columbia is growing and it’s coming from both sides of the political aisle. During a press release, B.C.'s socialist NDP premier, David Eby, recently stated the following about the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) mission to slay the exotic animals: “The minister of agriculture and I think British Columbians are a little bit frustrated by the actions of this federal agency. We understand the importance of containing the bird flu and the important role that agency plays. What’s hard to watch is a lack of discretion and ability to evaluate case by case scenarios.” The CFIA claims the birds must be destroyed due to concerns over an avian flu result from two deceased carcasses tested with the controversial PCR test late last year. The farmers consistently argue that their flock is healthy and worth more to humanity alive than dead, since their antibody-rich eggs were being used in partnership with Japan for research they believe is close to finding a non-mRNA treatment to stabilize the threat of the avian flu. Despite no signs of illness for the flock of 400, who survived the sickness that passed though the herd months ago, the CFIA remains unwilling to test the flock for immunity — and despite clear public and scientific concern over the decision. Local MLA and cattle farmer Jordan Kealy became the first elected official to visit the farm and recently raised the issue in the legislature. “It’s not about money. It’s a way of life for them. They would way rather have their animals be alive than to be culled,” he told Rebel News on the farm site. In response to the growing political concern we are seeing about the senseless cull, Kealy said “we’re seeing that it makes a difference. If there is that added pressure from the public and from constituents, we can start to see the different avenues open up. And I think the biggest thing when it comes to the cull practice that’s being practiced by the CFIA — there are better methods out there.” “This isn’t a scenario where if these birds get culled it’s not just a matter of restocking and starting over again you’re destroying the farmers’ lives” lives he added. They expect very little resistance form the public, and very little opposition from the people paid to provide opposition. Similar things have been done in the UK, and it has caused chaos. Millionaires, business people, entrepreneurs and productive people are leaving the country in droves. They’re running to places where they feel more welcome. They take opportunity with them. There are many areas where this dangerous new tax on a concept rather than actual money will have deep impact. It hits the stock market, as well as property market which will in fact impact everyone’s super not just the wealthy. Most importantly this will impact food production. Big chunks of land tend to appreciate in value. The value increase has been accelerating as the value of the dollar declines. This means family farms, held in super accounts, will be taxed heavily. Because value is relative and imaginary, there is no clear formula or predictability to the scale and timing of capital gains. Somebody will have to pay the cash tax, on an asset not sold. The imagined gain. Ludicrous. There are two ways this can be achieved, through using profits from operating the farm, or selling the farm. So many family farms invest everything they have into fences, feed, seed, fuel and equipment. When conditions are good, there is some money to be made, when the two major supermarkets are not busy pummelling them. There is even the odd export dollar. But it is not as if it isn’t already hard enough for family farmers here in Australia. Between the droughts and flooding rain, they fight to keep their farm lands free of power lines and electricity windmills. Fighting pests and regulations. Fighting to pay the energy bills. Fighting for access to water. Now they will be fighting to pay for imagined gains with real cash. This means an increase in the cost of food for the rest of us. That, and more corporatism in the farming sector, as more family farms are gobbled up by foreign corporations and big capital. Bad leaders can cause shortages where there was once effortless abundance. Albanese, Chalmers and friends are bad leaders. Short sighted and greedy. Playing divisive politics, as they seemingly tax the rich to give to the poor. The reality is they will just destroy more decent Aussie family farms, and everything that goes with it. The rest of us will pay more for our food. Australia can’t afford three years of this nonsense. No farmers, no food. I just want Australia back.

I have a story about addiction from a different perspective. A story where recovery was not possible. I have one sibling. An older brother. Everyone loved him. It was easy to love him. He died 10 years ago. It was a horrible death that took him 20 years to accomplish, dragging everyone who loved him along the way. He was an amazing musician. He didn't read music. No lessons. Hand him any instrument, and he can play it. He had a big heart. He was easily the funniest person I've ever known. And he is the only other human being who speaks fluent movie-script-quotes with precision and skill. But alcohol took over in his mid-20s. Bam Margera is just 2 years younger than my brother. He reminds me of my brother *so* much. Everything Bam and his family went through with his addiction is what my brother and family went through. My brother left high school because he was a gifted songwriter and musician. Bam left because he was a gifted skater. My brother was really into editing and producing films, and so is Bam. When Ryan Dunn died, and Bam went off the deep end, I was watching my brother do the same thing every time a strong emotion hit him, and he simply didn't know what to do with it. My brother was so beautiful on the outside, yet unrecognizable at the end. I can not tell you how many times my brother would go missing. Hundreds of times. He would sometimes go missing for up to a week. Then we'd get a call from the police or a hospital. Usually, the hospital would be first because he'd be near death. Then they would keep him on a 5150 at a mental health facility. Then he would come home. One time, he chased me with a knife in his hand, screaming he was going to kill me as I was running out of my parents' home on a cordless phone dialing 911. I found a fifth of vodka in his room and poured it down the drain. He went looking for it 20 minutes later, and it was empty...and I told him I poured it out. When I was 24 years old, I landed my first job that came with an office. My name was outside of it. I was stoked. I worked my ass off to get there. But there was no happiness at that time in my life. I remember my father calling me at work, sitting in that office, to say he was coming to pick me up because he knew where my brother, who had been missing for 4 days, was. Another time he went missing, and they found him on the roof of a building with the inside of his arms slashed from elbow to wrist, just lying in a pool of blood. Dark shit. Both of the insides of his arms were mutilated from being sliced open so many times. At least 30, if not more. He stopped wearing short-sleeved shirts in public about 10 years before he died. He got to the point of seizures when he withdrew and had alcohol-related dementia for the last 3 years of his life, which would come and go. Then one day, after 2 decades, he called my parents and said something was wrong. My parents went over to his place, ended up calling 911, the ambulance got there, and he started walking outside with assistance from paramedics and collapsed. In front of my parents. He was rushed to the hospital. I had not seen my brother for the last 9 years of his life. He disowned me. Because he felt he had to. He killed my dog when he got drunk 9 years before he died. No one knows if he meant to or not, he was so wasted. He couldn't face me after that. So he disowned me. And a piece of my heart died the day he did it. I talked to my parents right before they left to see what was wrong that day. The last thing I said to my dad was, "Do not let him die without me having an opportunity to say goodbye." My dad called me from the er 2 hours later and said, "You should come over now. He won't know you're here." When I got there, I was shocked at what I saw. He wasn't the right color. He was in a coma. Severe internal bleeding. On life support. It was jarring even after seeing him in a much similar state hundreds of times for such a long time. He was taken to the ICU 3 hours later, where they would transfuse blood by the bag damn near constantly, and it just shot out of his nose. It was bloody. A lot of blood. After about 6 hours, I told my parents to go home and get some rest. I would stay with him. And I talked to him like he was right there. Like one of the hundreds of pillow-fort slumber parties we had as kids. Like no time had passed, and his addiction never existed. I showed him pictures of my life over the past decade on my phone...just like he was there. But he wasn't there. And after 3 hours and extensive talks with several doctors and specialists, I had to make the decision to remove his life support. After my parents returned and said goodbye, I told them to wait out in the hall until he passed because I could not allow them to have the memory of him dying, and I returned to my brother's side, and said what I needed to say, bawling my heart out. I told them to turn off the machines, and I held him in my arms as he died. It took just over 7 minutes. And I just held him. I had Nine Inch Nails playing for him. One of his favorites thanks to Pretty Hate Machine. He was a fan for life after that. He was my best friend. But he was also someone I had to protect myself from if he was intoxicated. This is the end that usually becomes a reality for addicts and their families. Then there's someone like Bam Margera. He went to the same place my brother went to in his head. And he came back. Bam is one of the greatest comebacks ever and a story of recovery worth knowing. I see YouTube shorts of Bam skating again every day, and I'm so moved that I just sit here and cry. You can see his personality is back. You have no idea how rare that is. Their personality shows very little while they're in their addiction. Recovery stories are incredibly personal to so many people, including those who have gone through addiction with an addict because they love them so much...they'd see anything they had to see and endure anything they have to endure just to be there with them at their lowest point. Addicts are not monsters. The stuff they use to numb the pain they do not understand is the real monster. And when you put enough of that into a human being, they do things they would *never* do without it. People are not pure. We are more complex than that. We are good and bad. Light and dark. Right and wrong. Chaotic and serene. You will find that the answer to every question you have about life is usually "both" for a reason. Because one can not exist without the other. With recovery stories like Hunter Biden's and Bam Margera's out in the ether, more people will be less ignorant as to how this disease plays out, and that will do nothing but good for so many families struggling with this issue. Addiction isn't just for the addict. Addiction is for everyone who loves them, as well. It's just a different perspective of hell. I have a story about addiction from a different perspective. A story where recovery was not possible. I have one sibling. An older brother. Everyone loved him. It was easy to love him. He died 10 years ago. It was a horrible death that took him 20 years to accomplish, dragging everyone who loved him along the way. He was an amazing musician. He didn't read music. No lessons. Hand him any instrument, and he can play it. He had a big heart. He was easily the funniest person I've ever known. And he is the only other human being who speaks fluent movie-script-quotes with precision and skill. But alcohol took over in his mid-20s. Bam Margera is just 2 years younger than my brother. He reminds me of my brother so much. Everything Bam and his family went through with his addiction is what my brother and family went through. My brother left high school because he was a gifted songwriter and musician. Bam left because he was a gifted skater. My brother was really into editing and producing films, and so is Bam. When Ryan Dunn died, and Bam went off the deep end, I was watching my brother do the same thing every time a strong emotion hit him, and he simply didn't know what to do with it. My brother was so beautiful on the outside, yet unrecognizable at the end. I can not tell you how many times my brother would go missing. Hundreds of times. He would sometimes go missing for up to a week. Then we'd get a call from the police or a hospital. Usually, the hospital would be first because he'd be near death. Then they would keep him on a 5150 at a mental health facility. Then he would come home. One time, he chased me with a knife in his hand, screaming he was going to kill me as I was running out of my parents' home on a cordless phone dialing 911. I found a fifth of vodka in his room and poured it down the drain. He went looking for it 20 minutes later, and it was empty...and I told him I poured it out. When I was 24 years old, I landed my first job that came with an office. My name was outside of it. I was stoked. I worked my ass off to get there. But there was no happiness at that time in my life.
