𝐌𝐫. 𝐆𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧'𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫 Not a short film. One (1) full hour. Uncut. Uninsured. The budget was $5,000,000. I want to be transparent about where it went, because people ask. It went into the fog. All of it. The fog is a $5,000,000 asset and it does not depreciate,... show more

due to a loophole in the non-linear storytelling, I was able to fold space time on itself and watch this non linear one hour story in one minute and it was very good

Finally had a chance to catch up with this. Thoughts: 1. Shit got dark! 2. Gerald's leg situation needs to be looked into 3. This is nightmare fuel (I think I said this about the other ones... if not, I should have). 😂 4. Herbert Sherbet is close to Schubert so I already like him 5. the guy investigating looks like Tommy Lee Jones 6. I only desktop vape twice a month now and I feel like I probably should have waited until one of those days 7. I am watching this between 4 and 5 coincidently 8. $5mil is obviously a joke... this is clearly 7mil+ 9. For some reason I find the regular dude in the purple hat the most disturbing even though he looks the most normal and finally 10. I sincerely hope this doesn't give me nightmares 😂

𝔹𝕃𝕍ℂ𝕂𝕃!𝔾ℍ𝕋1 month ago

Haha love the commentary. The purple hat guy is colleged aged Herbert. Kid version, teenage version (pink leotard), college version (purple hat), adult form (modern short hair middle age Herbert)

This fog is NOT normal. I keep an in-depth daily weather journal (everyone should) and the days I witnessed the particle fog were on days it was forecasted to be sunny. I thought it was snowing or raining when I saw it with lights. When I went outside, I couldn’t see anything with the naked eye and it was NOT snowing or raining. Just this fog. People in my area that I know fell sick with severe sinus congestion, lack of appetite, not able to sleep, and coughing. I genuinely do not think this is a coincidence. You will be gaslit by the news into believing this is just a normal cold and flu. But when you finally realize illness isn’t from a germ jumping from one person to another, you will finally be able to see… That this is absolute warfare.

Heavy fog continues to be a place where I do not trust FSD, especially heavy fog during wet road conditions. Not because I think there’s a sensor problem, but because I don’t trust the awareness of the brain yet. This reminds me of snow pre-V14, and rain pre end-to-end highway. It’s not that I necessarily needed to disengage here. It’s clear that it would’ve been fine if I didn’t. BUT, I have no reason to believe I would’ve been fine if some obstruction was sitting in the road around the next bend, because FSD is not adjusting behavior at all as it passes through these conditions. It is doing nothing to signal awareness to me that it understands it has limited visibility along with reduced road friction. Can cameras see better in fog than humans? Definitely. But not so much better that you wouldn’t want to dramatically slow down here to minimize required stopping distance. I think the idea that other sensors are needed for fog is nonsense. It can be done just fine with brains, but it needs to adjust here every single time whether it sees an object or not. It needs to go slower. This is how FSD used to behave in snow. It could do it, but it never adjusted properly to signal awareness to the user. I still have the same problem in dense fog. It doesn’t feel safe to me. I don’t trust that it knows what it’s doing in these moments yet. This 100% fixable with a better brain, just not there yet for me.

James Cameron admits that he secretly worked on Titanic entirely for free just to stop studio executives from destroying the film "I offered that to the studio on a quid pro quo basis with them not doing stupid things to chop out scenes that were critical to the film" "I would rather have had a film that made sense and represented what I imagined it should be then get paid. That was more important" "it's not about the money, it's not about what I got paid. It's about the realization of an idea, a storytelling idea" "I didn't want them to knee-jerk and do stupid things like let's take out the entire engine room, not only would it significantly harm the movie, but it would therefore obviate all of the energy that we had put into it up to that point"

This was not abstract. It was not theoretical. Real animals were destroyed. Real people lost livelihoods they spent years building. Turning that into a joke at a formal event was a choice. The Ostrich Farm Mattered Calling it a roast does not excuse it. Leadership is not about landing laughs in a room full of power. It is about judgment, empathy, and understanding the weight of decisions. The loss was real. The joke made it symbolic.l…And what it symbolized was distance from consequences. That is not humor. That is a failure of leadership.

✨Michaela on the DSA panel at the Socialism conference: "What would it be like to live without debt? What would it be like to live knowing that you would not actually fall into homelessness or death if you had to change your job and don't have insurance, because you wouldn't need it because we would have universal healthcare for all? I really do want to emphasize that Socialism is a vision for a future without capitalism. It is not just 'government does things.'"

John McTiernan on how he learnt moviemaking by watching 'Day for Night' (1972): "I remember when I decided that that's what I was going to do. I went about it like it was reverse engineering. I knew that I had to go and learn what a movie was, not just my experience of going and watching a movie. So I went and sat in Truffaut's Day for Night (1972), watched it for three days straight, eight hours at a time and memorized it shot-for-shot. I got past the story, all the original and secondary experience, so I could study what it was that I was really watching. Film is really sort of a chain that's really linear. Yet when it's all strung together, it just sort of feels like an experience. It takes quite a while to be able to deconstruct that experience to figure out what you really saw." (John McTiernan's interview with Alex Simon, The Hollywood Interview, 1999)

ECHOES: Feature Film ECHOES is my latest short film. What started as a sci-fi story slowly transformed into something far more intimate and emotional. A piece about illness, the passage of time and the way we all end up creating our own mental planets to cope with what fades away. I know it is not a perfect piece, but it is an honest attempt to make real cinema. This is not a one-day experiment. I truly believe projects need the time they need. ECHOES was made with intention, care and a lot of passion. I hope the story connects with you. And if it does, sharing it means a lot. Social media needs more stories that care about storytelling. Produced by wearediva Special Thanks: Freepik (now Magnific) Runway Wild Cat Records

Stanley Kramer on the box-office failure of "Inherit the Wind" (1960): "Interviewer: Has an audience ever disliked a film that you, personally, liked very much? Kramer: Sure. One of the lowest grossing films in the world was 'Inherit the Wind' (1960). Nobody went to see it and I went all over the world with it. It had great reviews, and nobody went to see the film, so they must not have liked it. Word of mouth was not good until it came of age on television, and then it got a whole brand-new audience." "Where was God in Uvalde?" When I went to #Uvalde I did not want to go with an agenda or ideology. Tragedy is neither -- it is the end result. To open my mind, I went with "Where was God?" I come from Holocaust survivors and that question was asked in camps. The same question here led me to the unexpected & this documentary is the result.

I turned Grok Bot into one giant AI brain and gave it life and death over every agent under it. Its only incentive: make money or die. 290% overnight. The thing really did not want to be switched off. $1,000 went in. $3,900 came out. 15 hours, and I slept through most of it. One of the agents it hired is not allowed to trade at all. That one is the reason the rest are still alive. Every prompt and the whole build is in the post below ↓ Save it. The wiring is the whole trick, and it reads in four minutes.

I asked Claude to find the most obvious edge on Polymarket. It came back with three bets on the End Of The World and a potential profit of +$18,400. I gave it just one prompt: "find where the crowd is lying to itself the most." Then it went silent for 40 minutes. It came back with a NASA link tracking 34,000 asteroids with meter-level precision. And NASA publishes it for free. The market "5kt meteor strike in 2026?" is priced at 38%. NASA says 0.3%. The market "10kt+ strike?" Market: 20%. NASA: 0.05%. The gap is measured using KL divergence. Anything above 0.05 is an edge. We got 4.76. That is 95x above the threshold. The agent went NO on all three. Resolve is in December 2026. +$18,400 if the world does not end because of a meteor strike. And if it does, we probably will not need the money anyway. But the more interesting question is this: If a 95x gap is visible to anyone with an API, why is the market still pricing it at 38%?

Silent Hill is not a monster town. It is Harry’s guilt given streets and weather. The fog is denial. The radio is a mind that will not stay quiet. Every creature is a fear he would not name. The PS1 original still cuts because it understood horror as psychology first: a father walking through the shape of what he failed to face. A timeless masterpiece.

Gary Oldman's "EVERYONE!!" scream in Léon: The Professional is so iconic people yell it at him in the street. Turns out it started as a joke between him and Luc Besson. He explains: “What's strange is that it's become this sort of iconic line, and it was all done as a joke. And that was the thing, I played the scene…. And I had a relationship with Luc. Luc Besson was kind of mad in a way — I mean, we were shooting on film. He would say to me, "OK, do the scene again, but now do it as Robert De Niro." Or do it as... And he would shoot it for kicks, and his archive. So we had a fun kind of relationship… I said to Luke, "I just want to do one more, let me do one more." And I went to the sound guy and I said, "I'm going to be really loud, so be careful." And said “bring me everyone" — you know, EVERYONE like that. I just did it as a joke to make Luc laugh. I was a little shocked when I saw it in the film, yeah. It was just me fooling around — with intensity, with feeling — and yet it's become this line now.”
