[0630] #KimSoohyunโ€™s Long-Awaited Comeback Is Finally Here The way people look at actor Kim Soohyun is with sympathy. That is because he was made to carry an โ€œunfair false accusationโ€ based on manipulated information, and in reality had to stop almost all of his activities. Recently, the situation has changed a lot after Garosero Research Institute CEO Kim Seui was arrested, indicted, and sent to trial. One is the news of actor Kim Soohyunโ€™s official return in July, and the other is additional legal action surrounding Garosero Research Institute CEO Kim Seui. Looking at these two cases together, one saying naturally comes to mind. It is โ€œ์‚ฌํ•„๊ท€์ •โ€ (sapilgwijong), meaning that in the end, everything returns to what is right. Kim Soohyun is scheduled to officially resume his activities after about one year through a commercial shoot for a Philippine fashion brand on July 14. During the past year, it is known that he spent time recharging by taking care of his health, studying acting, and watching projects, while making almost no public appearances. Also, the damages lawsuit worth about 3.9 billion won filed by Frombio has had its hearing, which was originally scheduled for July, postponed to August. The court decided that it needed to more closely examine the reason for the alleged breach of the contractual obligation to maintain dignity, along with the related evidence, and will continue the hearing after receiving additional materials. In other words, the legal judgment has not been completed yet. Even so, Kim Soohyun stopped almost all of his activities for nearly a year and carried a huge social burden. Now that his official schedule is starting again, it can at least be seen as a sign that the environment for him to continue his activities is slowly recovering. Looking back at the past year, many people treated Kim Soohyun as if he were guilty based only on claims that had not been confirmed. But as time has passed, the legal process has moved forward step by step, while the people suspected of spreading false information are instead finding themselves facing legal responsibility. Meanwhile, Kim Soohyun has endured a long break while preparing for his return. Not every trial has ended yet. But at least based on how things have unfolded so far, it can be seen as another reminder that the law and evidence matter more than a rushed trial by public opinion. The saying โ€œ์‚ฌํ•„๊ท€์ •โ€ (sapilgwijong) is not about deciding the outcome in advance. Rather, it means that in the end, the truth should be revealed through the law and objective evidence. Kim Soohyunโ€™s return can be seen as the natural next step of resuming his work as an actor, separate from the legal process, while CEO Kim Seui will have the various legal responsibilities surrounding him judged through the judicial process. Going forward, what matters is not emotions or guesses, but facts, evidence, and the courtโ€™s judgment. It seems necessary to keep watching until the court reaches its final conclusion.

#ใƒชใƒใƒฃใ‚ขใƒค Happy Qixi! On this traditional Chinese festival, my friend and I have prepared this fan video, and we hope you enjoy it. BGM: ALONE to ALONE (feat. lasah)-sasakure.UK Illustrations: torimomo Video: Mist Since Mist-sensei's account ran into some issues, I'm relaying and attaching both of our creative notes here. Mist๏ผš The initial storyboards for this fan-made video were drawn by me, and I had been thinking about how to present it ever since the first season of the anime ended. The BD novel also gave me a lot of inspiration afterward. Before formally starting this project, I kept asking myself over and over: "Is my interpretation good enough?" "Will our understanding conflict with the original novel?" What changed my mind and gave me encouragement was precisely what Dumas said in the FGOร—FSF collabโ€”if your creation can bring people true joy and emotion, then even if it is "Fake," it still has value in existing. So, in a sense, wouldn't fan-made derivative works based on Narita-sensei's "Fake" original all count as "Fake of Fake"? In this year of 2026, I witnessed with my own eyes the novel I had followed for ten years finally receive an anime adaptation. I also came to know a warm and passionate community of fellow fans who speak different languages. And it is precisely because of this that I was able to meet torimomo-sensei and other friends. Sometimes I wonderโ€”are these the friendships that could only bloom and bear fruit after ten years of waiting? And in the novel, Richard and Ayaka have likewise been by each other's side for ten years, and are now about to welcome the final chapter of their story. In my eyes, the two of them were once lonely children of the stars, but after a long passage of time, those two stars welcomed their Fate in Snowfield. No matter how many times I revisit their first meeting, it stirs in me much the same emotion. Allright! At that moment, I thought: "I've finally found the courage to take this first step into creating derivative works for Fake. Come onโ€”now that my skills have matured enough, let me pour my heart and talent into them!" This is a fan work created together by torimomo-sensei and me, dedicated to Fate/strange Fake and to our beloved Richaya. Although it is likewise only "Fake," if this fan video can bring "True" emotions to friends who love Richayaโ€”then, for me, that would be an incomparable honor. Torimomo: From first receiving the storyboards and drawing a few pages on and off, to finally mustering all my energy and drawing in earnest from the beginning of Julyโ€”during this past month and a half, almost all of my thoughts, energy, and passion were poured into the illustrations for this PV. It was only partway through drawing that I realized, "Wait, it seems Mist's storyboards weren't meant to be fully colored after all..." (laughs). But since I had already come this far, and both the art style and rhythm had already become second nature, I decided to see it through to the end according to my own interpretation. I also changed quite a few of the storyboards along the way, and I am truly grateful to Mist for being so accepting of these modifications and creative liberties. To me, Richaya is a beam of light. I love the relationship between them, bound by the pull of fate; I love how they encourage and support each other; and I also love the perfect amount of negative space in Fate/strange Fake. It is precisely because of that negative space that different people can give rise to different imaginations and expectationsโ€”and that, in itself, is the greatest joy of derivative creation. I have so many imaginings of Richaya born from the wish that "they can be happy." Ever since I met Richaya this year, I have been drawing without pause. I don't hold back from pouring every image and story I can think of that suits them into my art. And it was precisely because of this that I was able to form a connection with Mistโ€”through exchange after exchange of inspiration, each of us went on to create even more wonderful works about Richaya. This animated PV is one of them. For me, simply being able to see it through to the end was already more than enough to make me happy. And after Mist-sensei's post-production polish and editing, it ultimately came together as such a complete video. I'm truly satisfied. Lastly, thank you to everyone who was willing to take the time to watch this video through to the end.

Soooo... if you haven't accidentally collided into them yet, lets talk about the GODDAMN CHAIN-LINK FENCES FROM HELL in our Grand Theft Auto 3 port to the Sega Dreamcast, which were not present in the PS2 original. We begin by examining these two side-by-side direct hardware captures. On the left is what will happen if you've been unfortunate enough to disturb one of these evil bastards.... The game becomes a slideshow until you move far enough away from them that they despawn. On the right is what it looks like after I FINALLY got that shit fixed, showing running the god-forsaken things over and sending them back to hell where they belong without a performance dip. This has been an issue we've known about since almost day 1, but we haven't been able to come up with a good solution for fixing it, because just ripping them out is totally not our style on this team... But no low-level SH4 math acceleration for the physics engine gained more than a couple FPS when we dipped into the single-digits. We honestly just hoped our haters and doubters wouldn't notice these damn things... So wtf was the deal? Why are these fences the last boss for the Dreamcast's 200Mhz SH4? Were they put there by bitter PS2 fans to spite us? Well, the story here is quite interesting. It turns out that by default, in the REGTA3 codebase, upon collision, every chain link within that fence immediately becomes a simulated rigid body. These bodies then are all interacting with and checking for collision against one-another, so that if you hit one link hard enough, it can cause a chain reaction that brings the entire fence down and destroys the performance while the physics engine contends with resolving all of the contacts... Then to make matters worse, the lower the framerate, the more steps the physics engine has to run during the contact resolution phase, since that means each object moves further per frame. This causes a feedback loop of shit performance leading to shittier performance. Okay, cool. So how'd they do it on the PS2? OH YEAH, THEY DIDN'T. There are no goddamn fences on the PS2 version. They were added to the PC version! Then to make matters more interesting, how does the REGTA3 port to the PLAYSTATION VITA perform upon hitting these fences? Like shit. Tanking to 14FPS! WTF!? ...Okay, so on the low-end, we got the PS2 featuring NO goddamn fences with a 300Mhz MIPS processor (plus a couple vector units that could've accelerated the math here), and on the high-end we have the PSVita choking and dying on them with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore... so... any other samples? Why, yes. What the hell does the original Xbox do in the middle-ground between the two, with its custom 733 MHz Intel Pentium III? OH, SOMETHING QUITE INTERESTING. There are fences present, but... They do NOT respond the same way to being disturbed. Like the REGTA3-based ports, and I believe the official PC port, the Xbox port does feature fences you can knock over by bashing into them; HOWEVER, unlike those two, the Xbox has settled on a compromise: chain links do not interact with one-another. They simply react to collisions with the player, so no domino effect from hell is produced through a collision response chain reaction. So right there, I knew what the best approach would be for us with a 200Mhz SH4: we're going with what the Xbox did! We get to still say "fuck da PS2," and flex with extra fences, but we don't also look stupid choking on them and dying tring to handle the extra physics and collision calculations.

What a beautiful, laid-back year. I worked and rested in equal measure, I laughed hard and loved hard. And I travelled! I ate croissants in Paris, ate too much cheese in Amsterdam, had amazing fish in Mozambique, swam at the edge of the Victoria Falls, had ice cream in Zambia, lunch in Botswana, coffee in Kenya and bitterballen in Den Haag. I fell in love with windmills and canals, trains and bicycles, and enjoyed European winter. Netherlands was a second home ๐Ÿ˜ And I finally explored Cape Town like a tourist and went home every chance I got. And I went to the gym, hiked Lionโ€™s Head religiously and went to church. And my career catapulted. I wouldnโ€™t even know where to begin expressing my gratitude because it wasnโ€™t just hard work, it was my seniors at work vouching for me, motivating for me and dropping my name in high places. It was my postgraduate students working hard and cooperating. It was my supervisor saying: โ€œI feel like I photocopied myself in you.โ€ And her pushing me in her footsteps -Guiding me on Funding, Ratings, Publications, Patents, Roping me into high-value projects and mentoring me like a mother. I got ALL the fundings I applied for. Like all of them said YES. Iโ€™m still speechless. I got NRF rated (Super huge for my career). I was granted a patent for the nanocomposite I produced during my PhD by South Africa, UK and USA, and the university poured funds into me moving to commercialisation (This happened after I wrote an email to the VC one 3 am. I woke up regretting how โ€˜harshโ€™ I had sounded and wanted to walk up to his office and ask him to delete the email before reading it - Long story ๐Ÿ’€ But turns out I had just been assertive and not rude, so yay! โ€œSign here, here and here.โ€) In all the cities I went to this year, I wrote the way I think - endlessly, deeply and utterly silly sometimes. I wrote my heart out and fought hard against impostor syndrome. I finally published my 6th novel, made progress on The y in your man is silent 3, finished my other novel (Lelani), finished my non-fiction book (about my childhood) and wrote my novel (The Praying Mantis) on my Facebook page. And I got the Outstanding Author award, making me a Multi-award winnerโ€ฆ It meant the world! I also finally stopped focusing on the next goal and slowed down. I savoured every moment as it happened and was present in real life. I looked out of airplane windows, went to spas regularly and drank a lot of tea. I also stopped trying to lose weight and ate my heart out. This year, I gave myself the love and kindness I give other people, and I was very gentle with myself. Through it all, God carried me and loved me as if I was His only creation. And I made many connections on and offline. And as always, I enjoyed Twitter a LOT. All that made the year so so beautiful ๐Ÿ˜ Also refurnished my house and renovated just nje for no reason at all ๐Ÿคญ Oh, and I LOVED and allowed myself to be LOVED ๐Ÿ˜ And I took many pictures of innuendos ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคฃ Chilling and working just enough has been fun, but resting is over. Next year, we go hard!๐Ÿ’ช The best is yet to come ๐Ÿคžโœจ

Francis Ford Coppolaโ€™s new film โ€œMegalopolisโ€ cost $120m and he self-financed it (including money from selling his winery). Coppola is a legend of โ€œgoing all inโ€ and โ€œputting skin in the gameโ€. The GOAT example is โ€œApocalypse Nowโ€, his classic 1979 war film with arguably the most insane production story ever. Letโ€™s rewind to 1975, the year Copolla turned 36: he is on top of Hollywood after directing โ€œThe Godfatherโ€ (1972) and โ€œThe Godfather IIโ€ (1974). What does Coppola choose to do next? Make a film about the Vietnam War. The script was based on Joseph Conradโ€™s โ€œHeart of Darknessโ€, the 1889 novel about the horrors of colonialism in the Belgian Congo. The major studios all said โ€œnoโ€ to Coppolaโ€™s pitch for three major reasons: 1๏ธโƒฃ He wanted full creative control 2๏ธโƒฃ He wanted to own all of the film rights 3๏ธโƒฃ The Fall of Saigon happened in April 1975 and the American audience wasnโ€™t exactly asking for a Vietnam War film (the studios wanted Coppola to make another Mafia flick) Coppola was undeterred and made a huge bet. โ€œThe Godfather IIโ€ cost $14m and the director estimated that โ€œApocalypse Nowโ€ would be the same budget. He put up $7m (mostly from those sweet Godfather checks) and raised another $7m from United Artists (which bought domestic distribution rights for ~7 years). But the project was a disaster from the start. Filming started in The Philippines in March 1976 and was supposed to last 3-4 monthsโ€ฆit would take 16 months: โ–ซ๏ธHarvey Keitel was the initial lead but Coppola fired him after one week. โ–ซ๏ธMartin Sheen (Captain Willard) took the lead role but drank so much on set that he gave himself a stress-induced heart attack and almost died. โ–ซ๏ธDennis Hopper was doing 3g of coke and 20+ drinks a day while on set (him and Marlon Brandon also hated each other). โ–ซ๏ธA typhoon destroyed 80% of the set and delayed filming for 2-3 months. โ–ซ๏ธActual dead bodies โ€” stolen from a local grave โ€” were used on set and the Filipino government and its strongman leader Ferdinand Marcos threatened to shut down production after finding out. โ–ซ๏ธMarlon Brando (Col. Kurtz) demanded a huge fee ($3m+ for 3 weeks of work and 10% of the filmโ€™s gross). He then showed up late, asked for rewrites, declined to read Conradโ€™s book and was so overweight that the costumes wouldnโ€™t fit (to obscure his heft, Copolla filmed Brando in the shadows and had him wear oversized dark clothing). The budget ballooned to over $30m. To maintain creative control and maintain all the film rights, Coppola mortgaged his home and borrowed money against his ownership in The Godfather. After the success of โ€œStar Warsโ€ (1977), Coppola even asked his friend and business partner George Lucas โ€” who was originally tapped to direct Apocalypse โ€” for some funds. I repeat: Coppola went ALL THE WAY IN and had SKIN IN THE GAME. His wife Eleanor took recorded video of all the insanity and the footage was turned into a 1991 documentary (โ€œHearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypseโ€). The total cost for the film โ€” including marketing spend โ€” reached $45m. Against all odds, Coppola finished the project and the film was released in August 1979. It grossed $105m and Coppola would make a fortune on future DVD, Home Video and other ancillary revenue streams (below is a trailer for a re-mastered cut from 2019). During the Cannes Festival in May 1979, Coppola famously said of the film: โ€œThe way we made it was very much like the way the Americans were in Vietnam. We were in the jungle, there were too many of us, we had access to too much money, too much equipment, and little by little, we went insane.โ€
