𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫: 𝐌𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 I visited Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Abuja this week to chair the Board meeting, my first since becoming Finance Minister. Before the meeting, I toured the facility to see recent investments in technology and intelligence. I commended the... leadership and staff for notable progress on revenue generation and trade facilitation. But progress should not lead to complacency. Results are precisely what should propel us to do more. I therefore charged the Service to set world-class benchmarks, backed by measurable outcomes that strengthen our regional and global competitiveness. Nigeria must lead through performance, not rhetoric: • Port efficiency that eliminates bottlenecks • End-to-end transparency across all operations • Accelerated cargo clearance timelines • Uncompromising integrity in revenue collection The Federal Government remains committed to equipping Customs with the technology, tools, and policy support needed to do more. I urged every officer to see themselves not just as border administrators, but as frontline drivers of Nigeria's economic growth and global competitiveness.show more

Lando: "I hope it (winning the wdc) doesn’t change anything I do, the way I think, the way I do things. I believe I won the championship this year my way, by being a fair driver, by trying to be an honest driver. At times, could I have been more aggressive and got off the brakes and had a few people over? I certainly could have done, and maybe I would need to do more of that in the future. But did I need to do it this year? Is that the way I want to go racing? Is that me? It's not. And I'm sure if you compare me, if that’s what you wanna do, to all the champions: have I been as aggressive as them at times? No. Have I been as daring as them at times? No. But did I do just what I needed to do to win the world championship? Did I perform consistently? Did I perform when I needed to under the most pressure? Post Zandvoort, did I come back in the way I had to? Did I have three, four weekends of great results? I did. And I performed when I needed to perform to win the World Championship this season. And in the end, that’s what I needed to do. That’s all I needed to do." #AbuDhabiGP

My remaining in the APC should not be mistaken for aligning myself with the government in power. I do see greater possibilities for constructive engagement from within, and remaining in the party preserves the opportunity for that engagement. At the same time, I am yet to see a credible alternative that persuades me to take a different political path. But neither party membership nor access to government can become an end in itself. For me, there is a clear condition for becoming truly part of any government: I must retain the freedom to remain truthful to my conscience and to subordinate every political allegiance to God first. If that space does not exist, I would rather simply remain where I am - in the APC, but not of the APC. Watch the full interview here:

#WATCH | Washington, DC | On the situation in Iran, US President Donald Trump says, "... I have a plan for everything, but we will see what happens. They should have made the deal. I had a great deal for them. We talked about it for 60 days, and in the end, they decided not to do it, and now they wish they had. It's late to meet, but they want to, and they want to come to the White House. I may do that... Anything could happen... I have a meeting in the war room in a while. We are in the midst of something terrible. I hate to see so much death and destruction... I have ideas as to what I could do, but they are not final. I like to finalise one second before it's due. Things change. Especially with war..." Source: US Network Pool via Reuters

Earlier today, as the Special Adviser on Policy Communications, I was privileged to share that President Bola Tinubu's administration is committed to driving positive change in Nigeria. In my interview with Silverbird TV, I emphasized the President's dedication to transparency and fiscal responsibility. Asiwaju is making progress on his promise to reform Nigeria, and I'm confident that our worst days are behind us. The President has consistently settled debts, demonstrating his commitment to fiscal responsibility. We're on the path to recovery and growth, and there will be light at the end of the tunnel. President Tinubu has also shown remarkable tolerance for the opposition, even in the face of intense criticism. We'll continue to work towards a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria for all. As part of our efforts to engage with the public, we're launching a new approach to communicate government activities, using both conventional and unconventional methods to deliver the message of Mr. President's Renewed Hope to the people. #BwalaSpeaks

I see no reason why Nigeria should cut ties with Niger Republic simply because of a military coup. What does the coup have to do with us? Nigeria and Niger are closely connected peoples, and a military takeover should not be a reason to isolate Niger from ECOWAS. I will work to rebuild trust and understanding with Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali and support their return to ECOWAS. This will strengthen regional trade, economic cooperation and create more opportunities for our young people. — H.E. Atiku Abubakar Abubakar

“I am going to probably use $300M of Anthropic this year at Salesforce.” - Marc Benioff “ These coding agents are awesome. Anthropic is awesome. Coding, everything's going to be cheaper to make, it's more efficient. I can do things that I just could not do before. I can go faster than ever before. I can implement my software and sell it at the same time. I've never been able to do that before. Today, I have humans, agents, and headless platforms all interoperating, never before. So the opportunity for my own company and the efficiency that I have in my own company, in service and support, in distribution and marketing, across the board, is unprecedented. What I can do for our customers, unprecedented. And, to that point, my gosh, have you seen Anthropic? It is a rocket ship that will not stop.”

When people ask whether the Supreme Court will strike down President Trump’s ability to collect tariffs, my answer is simple: I don’t see it happening. The executive needs the authority to set trade policy, whoever is in office. You can debate the tariff levels themselves, but removing that power from the presidency is a dangerous precedent. It would create chaos in global trade and undermine our ability to respond to real economic threats. There are plenty of constitutional tools available if SCOTUS ever pushed back, but I don’t expect it will come to that. With issues like fentanyl, record border challenges, and global competition heating up, we need clarity and leadership in trade policy, not legal uncertainty.

Trump could absolutely win this election. Both candidates are neck and neck. But here's something I promise to you all, and I ask you to make the same commitment as Americans: No matter who wins in 16 days, I will respect the results and recognize that person as my President—whether it's Harris or not. I will not claim it's rigged, and I will not call for violence or chaos in response. I will stand by our democracy, win or lose. We owe it to this country, to each other, and to the generations before us to respect the will of the people. Can we all agree to that? As Americans, as patriots, let's show that no matter the outcome, we believe in the integrity of our system and the peaceful transfer of power.

Obama: I am not immune to anger or doubt. But I do know this when we lose faith in each other, when we stop believing that voting matters… we open the door to the most ruthless or the most careless, or the most fearful among us who see some groups and some people as more equal than others and see government as nothing more than a way to divvy up the spoils and punish enemies, and keep those who are different in their place. I do not believe that is the story of America that prevails in the end.

I continue to share my progress in my recovery after this massive stroke and the coma and pneumonia that kept me in the hospital for over three months in the beginning of the year I hope that by sharing my experience strength and hope, I can help others who’ve been through something similar. That you are not alone!!! I admit it is an absolute miracle that I am here with you. So I am smiling and willing to do whatever it takes to improve my health. And As in every day I have to thank you for the prayers and support that helped carry me through and this far.

Yesterday, on the floor of the House of Representatives, I stood alongside colleagues and fellow visionaries to formally announce our registration with the NDC. This decision was not taken lightly. Having served my people faithfully and delivered tangible results in Awka North and South, I realized that to deepen our progress and truly secure a better future, we must align with a movement that embodies fairness, accountability, and opportunity for all. That vision is what Mr. Peter Obi represents, and it is the vision I share. I am proud to announce that I will be contesting under the NDC to continue representing my people. Our journey has always been about service, and now it enters a new chapter, one that will strengthen our constituency and contribute to building the New Nigeria we all desire. To my friends, supporters, and campaign family: your trust, energy, and commitment have carried us this far. I ask you to stay with me as we take this bold step together. This is not the end; it is the beginning of something greater. A New Nigeria is POssible, and Awka North and Awka South are proudly leading the way. -POLO

Yesterday, at the Senate plenary, I voted NO to the proviso that has the capacity of whittling down the mandatory electronic transmission of election results from the polling units in Form EC8A. As I have explained severally, this proviso adds nothing to the law but has the capacity to be misused, misunderstood, and used to undermine electoral integrity and transparency. My view is that INEC has already explained that it has the capacity to transmit election results in over 90% of polling units. Therefore, I feel it is the duty of INEC, once we make it mandatory, to come up with guidelines and regulations that will stipulate strict conditions for the few cases where presiding officers may not be able to transmit electronically as a result of communication failure; and these, from the last INEC report, cannot be more than 7%. My view, therefore, is that we should leave it for INEC to handle through its regulations and guidelines. The law should only make provision for mandatory electronic transmission, which we have done, and we should stop there. Hence, I voted yesterday, galvanised opinions, and also joined in voting NO to the inclusion of the proviso. Unfortunately, as I have said, the majority is determined to utilise its numbers, and they did so effectively. In a democracy, the majority has its way, but the minority will have its say. I believe that the majority should be used for the national good and not otherwise. It is now left for INEC to stipulate strict conditions for the admission of election results not transmitted electronically. It is also for the courts to bear in mind the general good when interpreting this section to promote electoral integrity and transparency. As I have said, the citizens must not give up. They should organise and support candidates and parties that promote and respect democratic norms, and organise and mobilise against candidates and parties that do otherwise. We wish Nigeria well. —HSD.

Honored to hear the news that I have been conferred with an OON (Officer of the Order of Nigeria) by The Federal Government of Nigeria. I am grateful for this recognition and honour. It has always been my mission to use my platform to showcase our country - the passion, the resilience, the joy the culture and of course the struggles of our people. I do not take any of this for granted. We have one Nigeria and we will continue to do whatever we must to make it better! Thank you all for being on this journey with me. So help us God. 001 - OON.

#Watch The left thinks the State should be everyone’s parent. The right wants to provide the tools to empower people - and thinks parents should be responsible for their own children. As a 17 year old from a tough background, I decided to vote in support of a National Government after reading through the election manifestos of the various political parties in New Zealand’s first MMP election. Why? Limited Government. I knew from experience that the state didn’t really help poor people. Lower taxes. I was working my butt off to improve my lot in life and every cent counted as I didn’t have many of them, and I needed every cent I could to lift myself up, not think the government would do it for me. Self-responsibility. I knew I had to take responsibility for myself to change my own reality, not expect the government to do it for me because I knew that would not realistically happen. Reward for achievement. If I worked harder and did more I wanted to get rewarded for it.

I don’t think people have paid attention at all to the growth commercially in terms of revenue generation as to why we are more than capable in terms of liquidity of finances, the room in our scr ratio and strong financial position to get this deal over the line because they were to busy calling us “the bottlers” for consistent 2nd place finishes and deep ucl competition runs that further boosted our revenue streams but I put this video and thread together to give you an idea of how possible it is. Be sure to check the revenue figures and scr ratio position I have included in the comment section of this post. Arsenal are not here to take part. We are here to TAKEOVER 🤷🏽‍♂️

Last week, the Government's version of the Occupied Territories passed through the Seanad, and will soon be law. I want to sincerely thank all the campaigners who pushed the Govt so hard, but to also be very clear that this is not enough. It is not the OTB I first tabled in 2018, and by exempting services from the Bill we have failed to show the ambition required. But this is not the end. I used my speech last week to set the record straight on services, and make clear that we will keep going. "I urge the Government to be brave, to accept these amendments, and ban trade in services as international law requires. We cannot just wait on an EU ban that may never come. If we are not successful today, I will be back in this House in September to move legislation to extend the ban to include services. We will keep going as long as we need to – until both our moral and legal obligations are met."
