🔎✨ Wouter Burger 🇳🇱 People will know how in depth I went about Burger in the summer - and how happy I was to see him in England, I had little doubts that his skill set wouldn’t translate in to a different league. In a season where Stoke have struggled he’s always seemed to put in good to decent performances and I’m really happy he has. He has at times played in a double pivot with Pearson but also played as a box to box and I really like the role because he has attacking attributes that can benefit the offensive side for the team. However he’s a long legged midfielder, can carry the ball, his long strides give him the best chance at getting back at opponents which he does a lot - sometimes mistimes tackles which can definitely be improved because he always seems to be in the right position to make the tackle but sometimes gets it wrong. He can play as the first receiver and can withstand pressure to a high degree, again at times can be rash with his passing but you have to take the teams style into account. I see him playing at the top level very soon, he’s a managers dream, can stick to instructions, still performs in teams that are struggling and doesn’t stop and covers so much ground, with a decent passing range and a good ball striking ability. #potters

VIDEO | Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin questioned the national selectors over the omission of prolific domestic performers Auqib Nabi and Sarfaraz Khan from the Test side, saying players are losing faith in the value of domestic cricket if strong performances are not rewarded with opportunities at the highest level. "I feel very sad for Auqib Nabi. He has taken around 60 wickets this season and around 50 last year, but we still don't find him a place in the Test team. It is very disappointing and surprising. Everybody says players have to perform in domestic cricket, but what is the use of playing the domestic season if those performances are not being recognised? Auqib Nabi is a very good Test-match bowler and an excellent exponent of swing bowling," Azharuddin said. "He (Sarfaraz Khan) has been given a chance after the New Zealand series. I don't think they have played him in any matches. I think it is fine if he scored 100 in that game. I mean, you need to give consistent chances. If you don't give chances, it becomes very difficult. He has not been given a chance in Australia also and in England also. So, what does that mean? Or what does that augur? So, I think the selectors need to look into this performance. Shapiro: When you have a president who is focused on making money for himself, that corruption leaves us all worse off because it means he’s picking favorites not based on what benefits the American people, but on what benefits him and his children. He’s picking sides in battles that ultimately are un-American because he’s putting his own profiteering ahead of the needs of the American people. That’s point one: his corruption has a real cost to the American people. Point two, though, is that what he’s doing seemingly is totally protected because the Supreme Court of the United States made one of its worst decisions, really over the last century, to give this president absolute and total immunity. And so he feels like he can do anything. So while he sits in that gilded Oval Office, he’s not focused on solving your problems, getting you health care, putting a roof over your head, or driving down your costs. Instead, he’s focused on trying to figure out how he can make a buck for himself and his family. And that is at odds with meeting the needs of the American people. So the first thing is his corruption has a cost to you, and the second thing is his corruption has been enabled by this Supreme Court, which has given him absolute and total immunity. That’s why we need real reform. That’s why we need anti-corruption laws at the federal level. I could make an argument that we need a 28th Amendment to our Constitution to bake in some stricter guardrails to protect the American people from a president of the United States who lacks integrity, ethics, and honor the way this president does. I think everything needs to be on the table. We need real reform.

Nick Wright says there should be some real accountability within the media, for all the absolute atrocious LeBron James takes: “ There weren’t even hot takes, there was just the accepted conventional wisdom throughout the course of this year. Going into the season, LeBron contract sure is a Albatros for the Lakers even though if he would have taken the league minimum it wouldn’t have open up hardly any cap space. But set the cap part aside, they was just like no, he’s not worth max level player any more. If anybody out here said LeBron worth the max, they would be laughed at. Now the games matter does he look like he’s worth the max? All year long the conventional wisdom, listen LeBron still good, but you know at 41 and he’s older than the other old guys. Steph, Durant, Kawhi, like you know, those guys are still top 10 players in the league, All-NBA caliber players which by the way Steph and Kawhi were. LeBron is in a different place in his career. We Need To Talk About Michael Obafemi. Following the termination of his loan spell with VfL Bochum. The Irishman (25) signed on loan for Blackpool who are 20th in League 1 until the season end. A far cry from the expectation levels we’d come to expect from him a little over two seasons ago. Unlike some who are “overhyped” I don’t think that’s the case when it comes to Obafemi. You don’t play for the teams he did at Youth Level if you don’t have something! On reflection though, maybe that constant changing of environment in Academy Football… Tells its own story? But for the avoidance of any doubt Obafemi is a good player, with the talent to play for Ireland again as well as at a higher club level. Pace and Power in abundance, a good finisher and a really sought after profile. At Southampton he was their second youngest Premier League player aged 17 and 199 days in the 17/18 season vs Tottenham. After three further seasons he left for Swansea in 21/22 finishing that spell with a respectable 39 games, 5 goals and 4 assists from limited mins. This move proved to be inspired and we saw him at his best with Swansea scoring 12 times in 32 Championship games. While that was the best individual season of his career that’s where things begun to fall apart. Good Numbers always bring speculation of “bigger and better things” Burnley in his case. Things ended acrimoniously pushing for a move in January of the next season going on loan to Burnley (to be permanent). Hindsight is wonderful, on reflection was it a poor decision by him. Yes but the margins are razor thin at the elite level and it’s hard to comment on having never been in his situation. But he’s not the first, nor will he be the last to do so. Since, it’s fallen apart for Oba, Burnley didn’t work out and the less said about his loans to Milwall, Plymouth and Bochum the better.. I see questions over his professionalism and attitude. No smoke without fire, but it’s not that simple. Having read the reports, spoken to people and watched probably every interview. Oba is a top guy! The primary issue comes down to his decision making off-the-field and harshly his maturity. It’s down to him now.

Every season, it seems like we have to say goodbye to a big name. This year… well it looks to be at least 3 big losses - John Stones, Nathan Benjamin Aké and Bernardo Mota Veiga de Carvalho e Silva. Wow, what an insane amount this trio has done for the club. All starters in the treble season and they’ve won the lot. Let’s start with Nathan Ake, he came from Bournemouth in 2020 for a fee of £40.4m - I mean at the time that seemed a lot for a back up centre back. He was steady, he was comfortable with the ball, solid at the back, some top blocks and some great last ditch tackles. But in 22/23 he was played at left back… and what on earth did he become? An absolute monster. ELITE 1v1 against any right winger. Unbelievable positioning and reading of the game. Even at times, getting forwards and he chipped in with some important goals. The best left back in the league that season. Whenever called upon, between his injury-stricken City career, he’s been fantastic. Most recently in the Cup final against Arsenal where many thought he’d be a weak link… he was absolutely absurd. Wherever he goes… we wish him the best of luck. John Stones, well… if injury hadn’t been the main factor in his career, he’d not only have a statue alongside Vincent Kompany, he’d have one outside Wembley. The general, the most tactical defender the game has ever seen. Whilst over his decade at City, he’s grown as a player and ironed out mistakes and just become an absolute Rolls Royce of a footballer, we can only speak about the treble season. The ONE season Johnny Stones managed to stay fit we won it all. Moving into the midfield and just bossing the park in every metric. Same number of dribbles completed in a Champions League final as Lionel fricking Messi? Unreal. General John Stones, definitely a fan favourite and we will be GUTTED to see him go. Finally Bernardo, Pep’s little favourite, the one everyone picks on, now finally the senior figure, the captain, the DREAM for a Pep team… he’s the epitome of a utility player being able to do absolutely everything on a pitch with endless running and an undeterred passion for the club. He is a true City legend. A decade at the Blues, also a decade of thinking he’s leaving in the coming summer. Well this year it’s finally confirmed… Bernie will leave the Blues being the face, alongside Kevin De Bruyne, of Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. The way his game has evolved is unbelievable. Once the tricky little attacker we signed from Monaco ten years ago, now dropping between the centre backs and a tenacious little midfielder tirelessly fighting for the team all over the pitch. His availability sees him become the only player in the modern era to be in City’s top 10 for appearances made for the club. He had everything on the pitch, and for City he was a fantastic little shithouse. But off the pitch he’s always had our hearts. Serious and passionate yet funny and joyful… Bernardo, it hurts to see you go. Thank you for everything. Seeing all these players leave us will be a pain in the hearts of all Blues, three fantastic servants to the club.
