INDIAN ARMY CONDUCTS EXPEDITION TO TOLOLING TOP AS A RUN UP TO 26TH ANNIVERSARY OF KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS In a solemn tribute to the gallant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the historic Battle of Tololing in the Kargil War of 1999, the Indian Army's ‘Forever in Operations Division’ conducted a commemorative expedition to Tololing Peak on 11th June 2025. The expedition, flagged off from the revered Kargil War Memorial in Dras, paid homage to the unwavering spirit and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers who recaptured strategic heights from enemy force, marking a crucial turning point in the conflict. A team of 30 brave soldiers from various units that actively participated in the Battle of Tololing climbed the Tololing Peak and hoisted the Tricolour, paying tribute to bravehearts of Operation VIJAY. The Indian Air Force also extended its support to this endeavour and fielded Officers and Airmen for the said expedition, exemplifying the spirit of synergy and jointmanship that defines the Indian Armed Forces. Inaugurated the ‘Krantikari Khajyaji Naik Memorial’ — a stirring tribute to the indomitable courage, sacrifice, and resilience of our tribal heroes who played a pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle. This memorial recounts the extraordinary saga of Khajyaji Naik, who in 1857, raised a valiant force of 30,000 Bhil warriors, shook the very foundations of British rule, and became so formidable that the British Empire announced a bounty of ₹2,000 on his head. Fearing the fire his story could spark in the hearts of India’s tribal communities, the British deliberately erased his name from our history books. Yet, the Battle of Ambapani remains etched in memory as a symbol of unmatched collective bravery, where tribal men and women fought side by side for the nation’s freedom. Even after Khajyaji Naik’s martyrdom, the flame of defiance continued to burn bright through fearless generations that followed. This memorial is more than stone and structure — it is a space of identity, pride, and awakening. An ashram school already stands here, and soon, skill development centres, women’s entrepreneurship hubs, and cultural conservation initiatives will come alive to empower the community and nurture its future. Under PM Narendra Modi Ji's visionary ‘Dharti Aaba Abhiyan’, 90% of Maharashtra’s tribal villages are being connected to 17 welfare schemes. With ₹80,000 crore allocated by the Central Government, focused initiatives in housing, employment, healthcare, nutrition, education, and infrastructure are transforming lives with a firm commitment — that within the next five years, no tribal family in Maharashtra will remain without a home.
