SS Dean Curley (Tennessee Baseball) is one of the top Sophomore-eligible prospects in this year's Draft. Earned the starting shortstop job as a Freshman and hit .285/.386/.502 with 10 2B, 12 HR, and 50 RBIs. After winning the National Title, Curley also enjoyed a productive stint with Team USA. Curley has a big league body at 6'3" and 212-lbs with length in his lower-half and strength and physicality throughout. Slightly crouched setup in the box with a medium-high handset. Small stride with a minimal load in which he deploys a slight barrel tip. Curley has big time hand speed and an engaged lower-1/2 - fan of the scissor action with his back leg. It's an under control operation/easy operation with minimal moving parts, and one in which he takes a short and direct path to contact. Head stays level. There's a really appealing compact explosiveness to it. Curley has a knack for finding the barrel to go along with plus bat-to-ball skills. Sported an overall IZ contact rate of 90% last season, including 93% against FB. Difficult to beat with the heater and handles velocity well. Hit .304/.515/.348 against 94+, including .500/.611/.571 against 95+ (albeit a smaller sample size). While there's some swing and miss against spin, Curley has a sound approach and his swing decisions are polished. Pitch recognition skills took a step forward with Team USA, curious to see if that carries over into the spring. Comfortable giving the hit tool a 50 right now, though it's closer to a 55. On top of his hitability, Curley has above-average raw power (plus to the pull side). His highest quality of contactโ€”and the vast majority of his HR powerโ€”is to the PS, but he has the strength to drive the baseball to all fields. Routinely impacts the baseball and is able to do so with relative ease. On top of his 90th-percentile EV of 107, Curley posted a Max EV of 110.8. Very enticing hit-power blend. Curley is a slam dunk to stick on the left side of the infield, it's just a matter of where. Started every day at SS last spring and is slated to do so again in 2025. He has an advanced baseball sense with a comfortably plus arm and some range to the arm side. There is a chance he eventually moves to 3B in pro ball where the arm and actions will both translate well. There's a lot to like with Curley from a tools standpoint on both sides of the baseball. He can impact the game in a myriad of ways and is on track to be a top-50 overall selection this July. (๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: Tennessee Baseball)

OF Jaden Gustafson (Wichita State Baseball) is an under the radar name to keep tabs on this spring. Hit .296/.367/.403 last spring with 15 XBH and followed with an outstanding summer in the Jayhawk League in which he posted a .391/.439/.626 slash line with 11 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 32 RBIs and 12 BB to just 2 Ks across 115 at-bats. Athletic frame at 6'3" and 215-lbs with particular strength in his lower-half. Stands upright in the box with a high handset and slightly open front side. Will drop/drift his hands a bit in his load, but Gustafson has plenty of hand speed. Small-strider. Compact operation in which he takes a relatively direct path to contact. Has shown the ability to adjust. Gustafson has double-plus bat-to-ball skills, and last season he posted an 87% overall contact rate and a 93% overall IZ contact rate (94% against FB). He also possesses advanced pitch recognition skills and swing decisions, and last year his overall chase rate was 24%. Very few swings outside of the shadow zone. Gustafson uses the entire field, but has a particular knack for going the opposite way. Barrel skills are also advanced. The most intriguing part about Gustafson in my eyes is his potential power upside. That might sound a little strange considering he has 0 collegiate HRs, but he's a strong kid with some present impact (90th EV of 103, Max of 104.3) and whose AirPull% last spring was a minuscule 7.7%. The bat and hand speed is there, and I'll be curious to see what will happen if he can get the ball up in the air more. Even if he can just start pulling the ball more. Gustafson is a great athlete who profiles best in a corner OF spot. Can go and get it, and he's got North-to-South range as well gap-to-gap range. Arm is fringy, but the athleticism certainly plays. Runs well underway. Could play his way into the 7th-10th round range. (๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: Wichita State Baseball)

OF Nolan Schubart (OSU Cowboy Baseball) has some of the most impressive raw power of any college hitter in this year's Draft class. Burst onto the scene as a true Freshman and hit .338/.451/.667 with 20 2B, 17 HRs and 74 RBIs. Schubart followed with an excellent Sophomore campaign to the tune of a .370/.513/.838 slash line with 10 2B, 23 HRs and 68 RBIs. Both his 23 HRs and 68 RBIs led the Big 12. Schubart was a Second Team All-American and earned an invitation to Team USA. Prior to departing for Cary, Schubart had a productive 9-game stint on the Cape in which he hit .300/.476/.667 with 2 2B and 3 HRs. Also showed well for Team USA. Schubart has a pro body at 6'5" and 223-lbs with strength throughout. Particular length in his lower-half. Stands tall in the box with a medium-high handset and his hands in line with his back shoulder. Small stride, drops his hands and wraps his bat a bit in his load. Swing is tailored towards getting the ball up in the air and doing damage. No shortage of bat speed. Hips really fire. Key is keeping the operation direct and connected. Not to get too hyperbolic, but the biggest key to Schubart reaching his ceiling is how much he'll hit. More specifically, how much he'll make contact. Had an overall contact rate of just 63% and an overall IZ contact rate of 71%. Between the Cape and USA it was 68% and 78%, respectively. Particularly susceptible to spin in the bottom and outer-halves of the zone, and heaters in the top-1/2 of the zone. While there are swing-and-miss concerns, Schubart's swing decisions are pretty sound and he chased at an overall clip of 21% last spring. If he can do a better job of picking up spin out of the handโ€”which in turn would up his contact rateโ€”that will help him maximize his hit tool. Schubart's calling card is his thunderous raw power. His ability to cover the plate with authority is impressive, and he can hammer the baseball to all fields. It's legit HR power to all parts of the yard, the key is just making enough contact to tap into his immense power on a consistent basis in pro ball. Schubart's impact is real (to say the least) and last spring he posted a 90th-percentile EV of 111.6 and a Max EV of 115. Even in his brief stint on the Cape his Max EV was 105.6. It's 70 raw power. Defensively, Schubart has held down LF to this point but he seems destined for 1B/DH professionally. You're buying his power and hoping you can add a couple coats of polish to his hit tool. 2nd Round type for me this July. (๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: OSU Cowboy Baseball)

OF Ethan Conrad (Wake Forest Baseball) has seen his Draft stock rise considerably over the last calendar year. Following a productive Freshman season and summer, Conrad had an outstanding Sophomore year to the tune of a .389/.467/.704 slash line with 18 2B, a nation-leading 13 3B, 9 HR, 52 RBIs and 17 SB. His hot hitting didn't stop there, though, as on the Cape this summer he was both an All-Star (ASG MVP) and All-League selection after hitting .385/.433/.486 with 5 2B, 2 HR, 19 RBIs, and 19 SB. Conrad has an athletic, big league frame at 6'3" and 200-lbs. Simple setup in the box in which he stands fairly uprightโ€”albeit slightly hunched overโ€”with a medium-high handset and holds the bat flat over his back shoulder. Minimal load, leg lift leads into a small stride. Conrad takes a direct path to contact and his barrel accelerates through the zone. Hand speed is above-average. It's a very compact, repeatable and under control operation. He has plus bat-to-ball skills and is consistently on the barrel. Last spring he ran an overall IZ contact rate of 91%, including 90% against FB and 94% against both SL and CH. This summer was a similar story, as his overall IZ contact rate was also 91% (93% against FB/CH, 91% against SL). Conrad can get trigger happy with FB in the top and/or outer-1/3 and has the tendency to chase secondaries down, though it hasn't hindered his production to this point. Tightening up his swing decisions a bit will help. Would give his hit tool a 55. Conrad has shown the ability to spray line drives to all parts of the field and is capable of driving the baseball into either gap. While he uses the whole field, his highest quality of contact comes to the pull sideโ€”which is also where all of his HR power to this point has come. There's present impact, however, and this spring he posted a Max EV of 109.4 and this summer his Max EV was 105.4. If he's able to get the ball up in the air more, increased HR numbers should follow suit. Power is a 50 right now. Corner OF profile defensively where his speed and athleticism translate well. Good instincts, can go and get balls in the gap or down the line. Arm is average. Alluded to it, but Conrad is also a plus runner who has a knack for taking an extra base on a ball in the gap or down the line. Most importantly, he knows *how* to run which helps his speed play up on the bases where he's an effective base stealer and chaos-causer. There's a lot to like tools-wise with Conrad and he figures to be the centerpiece of Wake Forest's lineup in 2025. Definite day 1 type this July, top-40 overall upside. (๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ: Marist Baseball)

For the record, I am much more of a college basketball enthusiast than an NBA Draft expert. One thing that has stood out to me throughout this draft cycle, however, is how little Richie Saunders has been discussed relative to his production. Obviously, age, injury concerns, and a lack of elite physical tools have all limited his draft buzz. Those concerns are fair. Still, Saunders was nothing short of one of the most productive and efficient scorers in college basketball last season. Richie Saunders was one of only 10 Power Conference players last season to post a True Shooting Percentage of at least 63% while attempting 8.5 or more three-pointers per 40 minutes. Among that group, he ranked second in points per 40 minutes. Additionally, Saunders was one of only two players in that same group to also post a Free Throw Attempt Rate of at least 35%, highlighting not only his perimeter shooting ability but also his effectiveness at generating rim pressure. He also finished an impressive 67% of his attempts at the rim. The combination of high-volume shooting, elite efficiency, and consistent rim pressure provides a strong statistical foundation for his NBA projection. Saunders projects as a prototypical floor-spacing possession finisher at the NBA level. An overwhelming 90.5% of his field goal attempts last season came either at the rim or from beyond the three-point line, reflecting the type of shot profile NBA teams covet for his archetype. While Saunders was assisted on the majority of his made baskets, the numbers do not suggest a player who is completely dependent on others to create offense. 34.1% of his made two-point field goals were assisted (64th percentile) and 92.2% of his made three-pointers were assisted (65th percentile), reinforcing his projection as a high-level off-ball floor spacer. Saunders also converted 44.1% of his corner three-point attempts, another indicator that his shooting should translate well to an NBA role. Defense is unlikely to be Saunders' calling card at the next level, but there are indicators that suggest he can hold his own. While steal percentage can sometimes be misleading, Saunders posted a strong 3.1% STL%, which, when paired with his reported +5-inch wingspan, points toward solid anticipation and the ability to disrupt passing lanes on the perimeter. Additionally, his 0.93x Personal Foul Efficiency (90th percentile) is noteworthy. Saunders consistently avoided unnecessary fouls while remaining engaged defensively, a valuable trait for role players expected to stay on the floor. When projecting Saunders' offensive role, players such as Cameron Johnson, AJ Green, Max Strus, and Will Richard come to mind. This comparison is not necessarily about overall talent level, but rather the archetype: floor-spacing wings who thrive playing alongside higher-usage creators, make quick decisions, punish defensive mistakes, and provide offensive value without requiring heavy on-ball responsibility. With Saunders on the floor, BYU was better in nearly every meaningful offensive category. Most notably the following listed below. On/Off ORTG: 125.3/114.3 TS%: 59.6%/56.9% A:T Ratio: 1.39/1.06 The offensive improvements are significant, but what may be even more impressive is Saunders' ability to elevate the players around him. There may be no better example than fellow BYU star and potential No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa. Dybantsa saw increases in TS%, 2P%, 3P%, and FTAr when sharing the floor with Saunders, illustrating the value of Saunders' spacing, gravity, and willingness to play within a complementary role. Elite complementary players are difficult to find, and Saunders consistently demonstrated an ability to make life easier for those around him. Saunders' floor-spacing ability is amplified by the speed of his release and his willingness to fire immediately off the catch. His ability to quickly get into his shot forces defenses to close out aggressively, creating additional opportunities for him to attack off the bounce. When defenders run him off the line, Saunders does an excellent job leveraging his shooting gravity to create straight-line drives to the rim. While he may not possess elite burst, he consistently capitalizes on defensive overreactions and attacks open space effectively. As someone who primarily evaluates college basketball rather than NBA draft boards, Richie Saunders has been one of the more surprising cases of this draft cycle. The concerns are understandable. He's older than the typical prospect, suffered a significant injury, and doesn't possess the type of elite physical tools that usually drive draft buzz. At the same time, it's difficult to ignore what Saunders actually produced on the court. He was one of the most efficient high-volume scorers in college basketball, combining elite shooting volume, strong rim finishing, and an ability to generate free throws at a level rarely seen from players who occupy a similar offensive role. His shot profile, floor-spacing ability, and offensive efficiency all align with the types of complementary wings that continue to carve out long NBA careers. Saunders may never be a primary creator or a player offenses are built around, but the NBA has consistently found value in wings who can space the floor, attack closeouts, make quick decisions, and fit seamlessly alongside stars. Whether he ultimately hears his name called in the late first round, second round, or enters the league through a two-way contract, Saunders feels like the type of prospect whose production and NBA-ready skill set could allow him to outperform his draft slot.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ Chinese EVs have been taking the world by storm, whether you like it or not When I look around here on the street in China I try recognize the car brands and I see so many brands I don't know One brand I see a lot is LI, but also BYD, Zeekr and XPeng Apparently there's now 129 (!) EV brands in China producing cars, which kinda shows the massive scale of the EV boom here There's a real historical parallel here with the US a hundred years ago, where there were about 2,000 new American car companies in America. Of course most failed, and only a few remained The same is predicted for China, where only 15 EV brands are predicted to survive in a decade, so a real battle is going down here now to see who will win One interesting thing is that there is one American brand that is remarkably present here, and that's Tesla, you see Teslas everywhere, the Tesla Y often holds the top spot for most cars sold in China, and you see Tesla superchargers here a lot What's also interesting is that where Elon Musk gets so much hatred in the West (not from me), in China he's revered as a hero. Elon is a high IQ engineer and successful entrepreneur. And it's a real artefact of the culture that Chinese respect that kind of person while in the West if you're rich, successful and smart you're seen as a bad person by at least half of society. I think that says a lot about our society and how we educate people in the West and we should really reconsider that. Engineering and entrepreneurship are the key stones of a functioning society. Engineering invents new things and entrepreneurs turn those inventions into businesses that bring them to people. Without both, you don't have jobs, money, and well, prosperity! Chinese culture seems to understand this well, which is why they like Elon Musk and still drive Teslas as one of the few Western cars here. Anyway to continue, in this video I visited the Huawei store and I have to add a correction, because due to new Chinese regulation that requires car brands to fully own their manufacturing, Huawei has "officially" separated their car business, but in fact they still fully design the car, sell the car, and get most of the profit from it. They just can't call it a Huawei car anymore Huawei is interesting because they produce everything, phones, tablets, watches, laptops, and, well indirectly, EV cars too A similar brand is Xiaomi, who actually do own the manufacturing of their EV, and their EV is one of the fastest growing in sales in China It's a real slap in the face for the West I feel that Apple, the creator of the iPhone, wasn't able to produce a car and cancelled their car project, when many of the Chinese phone companies are producing their own cars now with relative ease Of course the iPhone is produced in China, and manufacturing is in China, so being closer to the manufacturing physically, it must have been easier to design a car, than try to do it remotely from Apple's office in Cupertino But it does seem significant that we couldn't do this While I'm writing this the news comes in that Germany's car and greater manufacturing industry is tanking, their energy costs have gone up 2-3x due cutting off the Russian gas, and they've simply become too expensive overnight Germany's car industry, the historical center of car production in the world with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen, has started laying off 100,000+ employees and scaling down their production due to declining sales, which are a direct result of the competition from China offering cheaper, more advanced EVs with better software than the Germans And I mean you can feel it, I walk around in EV car stores here and the cars look great, the interior looks modern, the software is miles ahead of the clunky interfaces of German cars, most EVs here have a little cute robot on the dashboard that you talk to, so you never have to touch the screen anymore to do anything, like "switch on the wipers" or "route me to my hotel" etc. The EVs here honestly do not feel cheap, they're well built and comfortable Europe has tried to stop the rise of the Chinese EVs in the European market with a 45% tariff, but even with that tariffs, many Europeans still prefer to buy Chinese EVs over others, and they're still cheaper than the German cars! The US went further with a 100% tarrif, and that stopped them from being sold mostly in the US because it's not profitable anymore for the Chinese One thing I have to add which you probably know is that the Chinese government does heavily subsidize their EV industry (with about $230B+ in the last decade), it's not a secret and their subsidies do not compare to the ones the US and EU provide for their industries, which gives Chinese EV companies the (unfair) advantage to produce them at a discount and sell them abroad cheaper, which is exactly why the EU and US put tariffs on them Even with the subsidies, the engineering and production and software is impressive and feels very modern, I'm a Tesla fan, own a 2025 Tesla Y, but the Chinese EVs feel and look more modern to me. They usually have more screens, more features etc. There's real innovation happening here it feels like And that's kinda the conclusion you get being in China with every industry, they've already by far departed from being cheap clones of Western products, they're now at the next stage of adding their own features and ideas, which is what we always criticize Chinese on "they're not creative", well they are creative, they just start from the point where Western products are now, and then start innovating from there (instead of starting from scratch fully, I mean, why would they?) If you ask Grok how does the future of the Western car industry look like, especially the European/German ones, it's pessimistic. The only positive it can find is that maybe European brands can focus on premium and exclusivity. Like they do with Hermes hand bags, but then do the same with cars. BMW and Mercedes-Benz are of course luxury brands and they could survive by remaining premium and make money that way. But the regular middle and low end of car production in Europe (and America?) will most probably be wiped out and replaced by the Chinese I think That is if the Americans and Europeans will keep allowing them into their markets But even if they don't, the Chinese are happily going to the rest of the world like South America, the Middle East or the rest of Asia where you see BYDs literally everywhere As a European this does feel bittersweet, but then again we've all been shouting from the roof tops for years that this would happen if you didn't create a pro-business climate where startups would sprout, so now it's kinda "I told you so"

Xiao Zhan has always been known for his striking looks, but his intelligence, resilience, and ability to navigate even the most difficult situations may be even more remarkable. When artists in the Chinese entertainment industry terminate their contracts, they can rarely avoid drawn-out disputes and messy fallout. But what Xiao Zhan faced back then was an exceptionally rare and complicated contractual situation. His management contract, commercial contracts, and ownership of his studio were divided among different parties. It was essentially like having four bosses at once. Authority and responsibilities were divided, with all sides holding each other in check. When he became caught up in a major public controversy, none of them was willing to step in, take responsibility, and stabilize the situation. Everyone just watched, passed the buck, and waited for someone else to act. During the years when his career was at its peak and the attacks against him were at their most intense, opportunities were snatched away from him, public opinion was manipulated against him, and powerful industry players waited for chances to pressure and control him. He was trapped in a desperate situation, under pressure from all sides and forced onto the defensive. But no one expected that Xiao Zhan would withstand it all on his own and find a way out of what everyone else saw as an impossible deadlock. Without public confrontations or making a scene, he quietly reclaimed all of his contractual rights over the course of several years, completely taking back control of his career. He established a studio that he fully owns and independently controls. It was only when people later looked back at the entire process that they began to realize just how much they had underestimated Xiao Zhan. His abilities, mental strength, and breadth of vision were even more formidable than his fame and looks. One netizen put it perfectly: other people come out of contract terminations battered and bruised, while Xiao Zhan's went by like a gentle breeze. Back then, he quietly changed the long prefix on his Weibo name, removing the title of the organization he had been affiliated with. That same day, the topic dominated the trending searches, with views surpassing one billion. Fans celebrated, and posts flooded the internet. Even an official media livestream mentioned it, and the buzz swept across the internet. Yet the person at the center of it all stayed offline the entire time. No marketing, no hype. It was only a few days later that he calmly posted two ordinary updates. Some people said that this is what real mature confidence looks like: calm and restrained, in control of the bigger picture, never panicking when problems arise, and making each move calmly and deliberately. He is a genius who hides his brilliance behind an unassuming exterior, and a pure-hearted person who sees the world clearly and understands how it works. Many people suddenly realized that Xiao Zhan was never an artist simply being carried along by powerful industry interests. In a game involving multiple competing sides, he was the player who kept the board steady and turned the tables to take control of the game himself. One industry insider put it bluntly: he is the only top star in the Chinese entertainment industry to have been targeted by powerful industry interests, attacked from all sides, and suppressed for years, yet still rise to the top against the odds while remaining clean and dignified. What is even more remarkable is that during those two hardest years, when overwhelming attacks against him swept across the internet, not a single member of his staff, business partner, or former team member came forward with even the slightest bit of damaging information about him. With nothing they could use against him personally, all the attacks could only be directed at his fans. That alone says a great deal about the integrity of his character and how sincerely he treats others. As netizens put it, hardship creates heroes. And fortunately, he emerged from it all tempered into steel. His striking looks are matched by exceptionally high intelligence and emotional intelligence. He is the perfect example of someone who has far more than just good looks. Beyond top-tier looks, he also has top-tier intelligence, emotional intelligence, the ability to get things done, and strong personal principles.
