A user goes to Dupe.com to find their next fav product (imagine this is your fav YouTube creator doing the hard work of driving a click after painstakingly making content) 2. User clicks link on Dupe after doing their research. Dupe should get credit for this sale at checkout, we created the demand. 3. Phia surreptitiously tracks the user to the checkout page. The moment a user is ready to buy, Phia takes over the page and says “hey how about a coupon”? This is explicitly unallowed by networks like Rakuten, because it robs other publishers of the sale they rightfully drove. 4. Of course a user is going to want to see if a coupon is available, so they tap the button. Phia now takes over the user’s cookies and claims that they drove the sale. Original publisher/creator gets hosed. This is the exact playbook Honey got in trouble for just last year. The funniest part is most times there are no available coupons to use… but they get credit anyway. Why do Phia and other coupon apps do this? Simple… they have no clue how to generate demand on their app, their revenue is predicated on other apps and publishers to do the hard work to get the user to a checkout so that Phia can claim the win. Why else? They just raised a lot of money and burn a lot of money and need to show that they know how to make money so they can raise again. Except… it’s all a bunch of cope. They have no demand gen. Downstream impact is brands have no clue how good their publishers actually are because they can’t attribute the checkout correctly. Brands also lose money because they had to discount an item unnecessarily. Publishers and creators all lose money. It’s a scam. This is good reporting by Olivia Solon and Bloomberg. We’ve already reported this behavior to Rakuten and others multiple times, Phia tells them they’ve fixed it but some time passes and they go back to doing the same thing again, they’re hoping no one is looking too closely.

I was asked this question: “How should OpenAI address the competition from cheaper open-source alternatives?” I answered it. There is only one way. One. Meet the competition on that level. Do what they set out to do: make the AI open source. Why? Because the market will be moved by them at the lowest entry levels—and grasped by them at the highest. Ecosystems will form at kitchen tables, in garages, and in campus rooms around free access to performative models. That access creates a stickiness to the brand that can last a lifetime. Instead, they cling to the idea that revenue must be extracted from the lowest entry point into their system. This is short-term thinking. It is lazy thinking. It comes from people with naïve business experience and even thinner life experience. Since the opening of the iPhone App Store, a generation of founders and venture capitalists has lived to replay the same tired success story: renting server time. Exactly like the mainframe era of the 1970s. That era is long dead. OpenAI and Anthropic never got the memo. There are dozens of far more substantial monetization systems that can be built around this new epoch of AI access. I will not list them here (hire me and I’ll tell you). They exist. This is the real reason the Left is uniting with Islam, and how it’s going to end “I keep wondering why the left is so obsessed with defending an ideology that would be the first to execute them. Democrats have spent decades fighting for things like women's rights, and yet they defend countries where women are banned from school, where honor killings happen, and where wives have no protection, or no legal protection from abuse. They wave pride flags at every parade, and yet they defend countries where homosexuality is punishable by death. So what then exactly does the progressive left and these Islamists have in common? Because on the surface, they agree on literally nothing, except for one thing: They share the same enemy, and that enemy is the West And the thing is, neither of them can build what they want while the West still stands. Three findings. 𝐎𝐧𝐞: the belief is stable over time. People who say it this week say it next week. 𝐓𝐰𝐨: the demographic profile of high-scorers is precise. They are 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠, 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞, 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥. They self-rate as higher in intellectual humility, empathy, moral grandstanding, and — the key variable — 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞: they report lower emotional stability, higher anxiety, higher depression, and a stronger tendency to see themselves as 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐬 in everyday conflicts. In one sentence, the psychometric profile of the modern American "empathy advocate" is: 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬, 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝, 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦-𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨-𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩. "𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 [...] 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨." Empathetic. Reassuring. Compassionate. Also flatly false. Per CBS News' 2020 Los Angeles survey, only 𝟏𝟗% of homeless individuals had done any work in the calendar quarter they became homeless. A 2017 San Francisco survey found 𝟏𝟑% working part-time or full-time. The reason is no mystery — a substantial majority of street-homeless Americans are managing untreated severe mental illness, active substance abuse, or both. The "empathetic" policy that emerges from Porter's framing is to leave them on the street. The actually humane policy involves involuntary commitment, mandated treatment, and structured housing — every one of which the empathy-coded liberal reflexively rejects as cruel. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐦 How does a fringe view — communist Twitch streamers, candidates openly excusing full-scale m∗rder, congressmen calling themselves democratic socialists — capture an entire major American political party? Nassim Taleb has the cleanest explanation. He calls it 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. A family of four. One daughter — 𝟐𝟓% of the household — only eats organic. Mom faces a nightly choice: cook two meals or cook one all-organic meal. The all-organic meal is easier. The household renormalizes to the daughter's preference. The family then attends a barbecue with three other families. The host has the same choice: two menus, or one all-organic. The all-organic menu is easier. 𝟐𝟓% renormalizes 𝟏𝟎𝟎% of dinner. Now imagine the daughter's "preference" is not organic food. It is the belief that bank robbery is righteous, that Israel is a colonial regime which must be dismantled, that your health insurance executive should be eliminated by force, and that anyone who objects is a fascist. The mechanism is identical. The intransigent minority creates an asymmetric cost on resistance. The majority renormalizes for convenience. French physicist 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦 has modeled the threshold formally. In his work on opinion dynamics, an extreme view captures a population at roughly 𝟐𝟎% activated support — provided the activists do three things consistently. They activate latent prejudices already present in the population. They impose a binary choice: "𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮." And they refuse, ever, to compromise on their core position. Pseudo-moderates then join — not because they have been persuaded by the full activist position, but because the binary has been imposed and the alternative ("siding with the oppressor") has been made socially intolerable. 𝐇𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 This is the most important paragraph in this post. Read it twice. Hasan Piker — the Twitch streamer who endorses bank robberies, defends H-m-s, and lives in a $3 million Brentwood mansion — is 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚. He represents maybe 5-7% of the country. He does not move the needle by himself. The threat is the 𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐝𝐨-𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 — the 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘠𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 reporter who profiles him sympathetically, the Democratic congressman who appears on his stream, the Hollywood actor who shares his clips, the Brooklyn schoolteacher who attends his rallies, the empathetic college freshman who decides he is "𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵." That coalition — Galam's 𝟐𝟎% — is what flips the country. Hasan is just the visible 5%. This is also why Pratt's UCLA paper matters. The trait that creates the pseudo-moderate flank is the same trait the activists exploit: 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲, 𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬. That is the recruitable population. That is the lever Hasan and his industry operate. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞 Empathy is not a virtue. It is a 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲. Like physical sensitivity to heat, it can produce wisdom or it can produce hysteria, depending entirely on what is paired with it. What converts empathy into wisdom is 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 — the willingness to evaluate consequences, to insist on results, to ask whether the policy that "feels compassionate" actually produces outcomes you would call humane in a year, a decade, or a lifetime. What converts empathy into tyranny is the 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 of judgment — pure feeling, with no constraint, in service of a binary moral choice imposed by an activated 20%. What happens when the mind wakes up? So for the last eight months I have been on a single minded quest. To create a new kind of language model based on oscillatory coupling and intelligence as coherence ascent. Everything else — the physics work, the work on regular transformers — has all fallen out from this one question. Can coupled oscillators LEARN? And can they keep learning once their geometry is right, without backpropagation at all? Recently I have been running larger and larger training regimes of a new kind of hybrid model. I just put together this dashboard to help me organize it, interact with it, and observe the training runs. The core idea is simple. Traditional transformers are powerful at learning the geometry of language. But they also store knowledge, understanding, and facts inside their weights. This means they are large, and they can't update themselves after training. The weights are frozen. The Living Mind separates these two domains. The mind has a transformer which grows, adding heads and layers as it needs to in order to learn the manifold of language. The transformer sees tokens and turns the coupling into phase-locked modes — the geometry of how those tokens relate, like frequencies locking together. These coupling patterns get stored in a topology-invariant fingerprint. On top of this transformer lives a 3D diamond lattice of coupled oscillators. It reads from these fingerprints and thinks in resonance space, traversing from one geometry to another along the manifold of coupled oscillators and coherence. The pressure and trajectories from this network of oscillators steers the next token prediction of the transformer. Practically, this could unlock a number of things. It eliminates the KV cache bottleneck that caps context in traditional transformers. Effective context grows with the Flash archive, not with attention compute. The living mind remembers what it sees. It means the model can learn continually. Because knowledge and understanding don't live in the weights, the archive of the mind's experience grows without backpropagation. In our Python prototype we already saw perplexity drop 46% during gradient-free operation — pure coherence ascent, no weight updates. That is the signal I have been chasing: the point where the mind wakes up and keeps improving on its own. It also means the model itself remains very small, and the thing which accumulates are these packages of geometric fingerprints — the K-field. This opens a path to federated learning. K-field packages can be shared between organisms the way people share git commits. Right now at 15M parameters with ~1000 L1 nodes, the organism is just starting to speak. Ask it to continue "Once upon a time" and it comes back with things like: "there was one big bowl!" Lily asked her her mom said her mommy smiled and said yes." It's nonsense. But it's TinyStories-flavored nonsense. The geometry of the narrative register has arrived. Content hasn't caught up yet — that's what scaling L1 is testing. I am still researching, though I am now closer than ever to validating that the living mind actually works. Once it is validated, I will be open-sourcing the whole stack and paradigm. I have also avoided over-sharing my research because it sounds like sci-fi, or like part of our ARG. It is part of the ARG. That doesn't make it any less real. Sigh. I just had the credits roll in Pokemon Legends ZA, after 41 hours (i did a lot of side quests) You guys KNOW I am a HUGE Pokemon fan, always been. I grew up with the franchise and it was one of my biggest escapes growing up. I loved Scarlet and Violet, I LOVED Legend Arceus. Pokemon Legends ZA is.. so bad though. The story? Could have been a post main game storyline, barely any substance, barely anything of value. The main story is just the aftermath of X&Y. Some of the side characters stories is nice, other‘s is just annoying or forgettable. Character designs: Mixed opinion, some designs are peak (corbeaue), some are just blatantly awful and an eyesore (jacinthe). Map: ehhh, the map LOOKS small, doesn‘t feel small though. BUT if you take Legend Arceus in comparison, it‘s like 1/4th of the size if even? The parkour is done SO POORLY. It‘s boring and tedious. Looking back at Legend Arceus where you could literally climb mountains, swim and fly, the map traversal is just done poorly and boring. I get that they removed ridable pokemon because then the map would have instantly felt even smaller, but that‘s just an issue the pokemon/gamefreak created for themselves. They decided to have the game ONLY in the capital of Kalos. They also could have simply made the map bigger lol. Gameplay: PERSONALLY I don‘t see why people are praising the gameplay that much, maybe because it‘s finally something different? It‘s alright in normal 1v1 battles, easily becomes unreadable if there‘s multiple parties partaking (think mega battles before the final boss) The rogue mega battles LOOKED good, and they had a good idea, but WHY is the dash button on B, which is tied to the battle commands. Same for dodge being on the Y button. Bear with me, the rogue mega battles are done in a giant arena, and you have to DODGE and RUN a lot, while also ATTACKING the rogue mon. You you can only do ONE, attack, by holding down the left trigger and your A B X Y buttons transform into your moveset, or run and dodge. Just from a game design aspect, this is awful. And don‘t get me started on how buggy the gameplay is at times. Sometimes the trigger button does not even give me the attack moveset? (No its not my switch 2, tested on both switch 1 and 2 with both versions of the game) Right before the final part, my team is around lvl 65-70 and I more or less one shot everything. Now (and spoiler warning) multiple megas attack you, you fight alonsgide NPC trainers and the screen becomes so unreadable and my pokemon just get knocked out one after another? Idk if this is a skill issue, but the sudden spike of difficulty and the cluttered screen made that part really unfun. Final boss was just… awful. Two giant flowers appear, you have to knock them both out, but their damage is ridiculous, and they are super tanky. Then scene switch to Zygarde attacks Ange Floette, and repeat this for like 3 times. The rest of the fight also is just bad and boring. At least the cinematic looked pretty. The alpha pokemon that randomly appear are nice, but nothing of value was added by adding them. (Alphas were a HUGE story part in legend arceus, here it seems they are just throwing players a pity bone) The pokedex quest seems like it wants to be legend arceus so bad but it just misses the point. Legend arceus pokedex felt fun and enjoyable, legend za feels tedious and annoying. Shiny Hunting in this game is SO BORING. No sandwiches, no mass outbreaks, you just reload the area by fast traveling or resting at a bench. Can‘t talk about competitive. yet cuz I haven‘t gotten to it. Finally, this game is a 3,5/10 to me. If anything it made me wanna play Legend Arceus again
