A woman died and her husband was severely injured after a speeding car rammed their scooter at Mamledar Wadi Junction in Mumbai's Malad West on Sunday night, police said. According to Malad police, the car, allegedly being driven rashly by 65-year-old Krishna Chamankar, rammed into the coupleโ€™s Activa. The accident took place around 8pm, when Mayank Shah, 35, and his wife, Priyanka, who was a lawyer, had stopped at a traffic signal while returning home through Malad Subway, police said. According to Malad police, the car, an MG Windsor allegedly being driven rashly by Chamankar, rammed into the coupleโ€™s Activa. Mayank suffered serious injuries, while Priyanka was critically injured and later died during treatment at a hospital. The impact did not end with the coupleโ€™s scooter. Police said the car went on to hit three autorickshaws, injuring five passengers. Some of the injured suffered serious injuries, while others sustained minor injuries. A complaint was lodged by Mayankโ€™s brother, Manthan Devji Shah, 35, following which Malad police registered a case against Chamankar under Sections 106(1), 281 and 125(A)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Police said Chamankar was medically examined before being arrested. According to police sources, Chamankarโ€™s name has also figured in a high-profile legal case. He is one of the developers who, along with his brother Prasanna Chamankar, was named in the alleged Maharashtra Sadan scam case linked to former Maharashtra PWD minister and NCP veteran Chhagan Bhujbal, police sources said. In September 2025, the Bombay High Court quashed the money-laundering case registered against the brothers and their firm, K S Chamankar Enterprises, by the Enforcement Directorate. Meanwhile, Priyankaโ€™s cousin, Pravin Cheda, has raised questions over the treatment allegedly given to Chamankar at Malad police station following the accident. In a letter to senior police officers, Cheda alleged that Chamankar was allowed to use his mobile phone inside the lock-up and was given preferential treatment. Cheda further alleged that around 1.20am, a woman police officer from Versova arrived at the station and, citing a medical check-up, took Chamankar out of the lock-up and seated him in an air-conditioned room at the rear of the station. He has sought an independent inquiry into the conduct of the police personnel allegedly involved and demanded suspension and departmental action against those found responsible. He has also sought strict prosecution of Chamankar in accordance with the gravity of the offence.

Killer said by any Chance if he manage to come out of Jail, he will kill the Sugar Daddy. He said to reporters, he is very happy now, no regret, or remorse for what he has done. Drugs, an illicit affair, and a brutal murder Cutting off his wifeโ€™s fingers one by one, beheading her, killing her brutally, and then stuffing the severed head into the fridge. Police recovered Riya Talukdarโ€™s mutilated body inside the room. The husband had first cut off the head, wrapped it in polythene and kept it in the fridge. The rest of the body was lying next to the bed in the bedroom. Several packets of incense were recovered right beside the fridge. Police also seized a dao and several liquor bottles from the room. Killing his wife was not enough for Ramanuj Goswami. He sat beside the body and drank. On Saturday, during the day, he cooked rice and ate it next to his wifeโ€™s blood soaked body. He spent an entire day beside the beheaded corpse. The police investigation has also revealed that he had even planned to feed pieces of the body to dogs. Ramanuj has admitted to police that he smashed and destroyed both his own mobile phone and his wifeโ€™s. It has also emerged that on the day of the incident he got his hair cut and coloured at a salon. Ramanuj was also a drug addict. He had earlier spent nearly three months at a rehabilitation centre. This was not his first arrest. In 2019, during the lockdown, Ramanuj Goswami was arrested in an ATM theft case in Gauripur. His mother has been unable to accept what her son has done. She said it was unbelievable, that he shows respect even to strangers on the street, and that her son could never commit such a monstrous act. Riya Talukdar has an elder brother. According to Ramanujโ€™s mother, the brother does not live in Assam. The couple had not even completed a year of marriage. Riya, from Noonmati, and Ramanuj, from Gauripur, had begun their new life together this year. Before the wedding Ramanuj worked at a private firm. After marriage they moved into โ€œAnjali Grihaโ€ in Bashishtapur, Beltola. Riya worked at a boutique in Fancy Bazar. Ramanuj had bought a new car and started driving for Uber and Rapido in Guwahati. Neighbours say there were violent quarrels between the two. Disagreements were frequent. On Saturday, neighbours heard the sounds of a terrible commotion. Cries drifted out from inside the house that day. The only voice the neighbours could hear was Ramanuj Goswamiโ€™s. Once the body began to smell, Ramanuj abandoned the house and fled. When police arrived, the flat door had not been latched. He had left it pressed shut with a sock wedged in place. He had already surrendered to Dispur police at Ganeshguri on Sunday night, and Hatigaon police have since taken custody and are continuing the interrogation. Parts of Riyaโ€™s body, in two polythene bundles, were sent to GMCH and the necessary procedures were completed. Under police questioning, he has cited an illicit affair as the reason behind taking this course.

Video shows Palestinian driver plowing into British tourists in Crete A car driven by a 29-year-old Palestinian man spreads panic on a crowded street in Malia, Crete, as video footage captures the moment it hits tourists. The video, which became public on Saturday, records the seconds leading up to the hit that took place in Malia in the early hours of 19 July. Published by Creta Live, it shows the carโ€™s dangerous path through a busy street packed with people at the height of summer, culminating in a collision with tourists. Crowds were out on the street and in the bars when the vehicle appears amid the throng. The driver โ€” the 29-year-old Palestinian โ€” is seen making dangerous maneuvers. As he drives along the road, he first swerves sharply to the right. People scramble and run to get out of the way. He then turns left and collides with a British couple who were standing talking, unaware. The 41-year-old British woman suffered a broken leg. Her partner is more fortunate and sustains less serious injuries. The vehicleโ€™s wild path angers some people in the crowd. Once they realize what has happened, they react with shouts and gestures of disapproval, and one person kicks the car involved. After several days of investigation, the authorities identified the owner of the car as a 29-year-old Palestinian resident of Heraklion. He faces a felony criminal charge. During the preliminary investigation, he had confessed that he was the driver and that he had been under the influence of alcohol. However, when he appeared before the examining magistrate in Heraklion, he claimed he was not the person driving. He said the vehicle only came into his possession 23 days before his arrest โ€” that is, after the incident. He attributed his earlier confession to a misunderstanding caused by a language barrier. The 29-year-old was released under restrictive conditions, including the surrender of his driving license and the vehicleโ€™s registration documents.
